Gaver Tree Farm & Pumpkin Patch

Our family loves Gaver. We’ve purchased our Christmas tree from here and have attended their fall festival many times. Their products for sale are great quality. Well worth the visit.

Fun for little kids but grandma’s who don’t go on any of the rides still have to pay full price (which is EXPENSIVE) a real money maker

The kids love gaver farm. They have thee best apple cider donuts around. The corn maze is a bit challenging in the beginning of the season before people trample it. Wouldn’t recommend going through it close to dark or closing. My kids love the slides and animals.

We went for the fall festival and it was the best time we’ve ever had. My son was almost two, and he had a blast going down the huge slides and petting all the farm animals. The donuts were incredible and the food was really good.

I chose Gaver Farm for my very first tree cutting experience ever and was not disappointed. The farm was beautiful and the selection was great, even for a little late in the season. We loved the little market too (Homemade fudge and cider? Yes, please!) What really stood out was the incredibly nice and helpful staff — as soon as we said it was our first time, they were full of advice and helped us where we needed it. I can’t wait to visit again next year!

Rating just as a tree farm. Probably the nicest tree farm I’ve ever visited. Easy access off Rt. 70, plenty of parking, thousands of large and well-​pruned trees of many varieties, pretty location with no crazy hills, lots of carts to haul our tree, helpful and friendly staff. My boys and I cut our own trees here in 2015 and it was a great experience. We showed up early to avoid crowds, and we didn’t wait in any lines at all. We will be back next year for sure!

We’ve been getting trees from here for years. The service is good but the selection of trees seems to be diminished from years past. They’ve replanted several areas but they look to be a few years away from ideal size. We had to go much deeper into the fields this year than in years past. That’s to be expected at times but it seems to be more pronounced this year. They also seem to be more focused on providing an «experience» for people than just being a tree farm. So if that’s what you’re looking for I’d say it’s a good choice. Overall I’d still recommend this place.

Great place for kiddos big and small. The «café» leaves a lot to be desired but bringing a packed lunch on a fall day isn’t too complicated and they have lots of tables inside and out.
The hay ride was easy and quick. The games and slides are awesome for the little and not so little kids. If you like to be over prepared bring your own burlap for the slides as they don’t have quite enough for the kids in line. We will make this a yearly tradition!

We went here for their pumpkin fest and it was awesome!!! So much to do and not as expensive as other farms! Highly recommend!

This farm is amazing. Their fall festival is huge, and designed for big crowds. They have over 50 different attractions– but many are designed for small kids, and there are multiples of the same idea– like two or three different sections with large lincoln logs, probably fifteen different slides of varying lengths and speeds, a big spider web and six or seven mazes… plus the giant pillow for jumping.
They also have a nice large farm store, with all sorts of home goods and crafts and freshly made food items. Not so much actual produce, which was a little disappointing, but it was well-​laid out and I got my cider donut very easily :)
The price of admission is a little steep– $ 10 per person… but we spent several hours there on a Sunday morning, and could have easily spent a full day if we had gone with friends.
Can’t wait to go back and do a hayride out to the pumpkin patch!

Such a wonderful place for my daughter!!! She is only 1 ½ but still had such a wonderful time playing in the corn kennels, going down the big slides and picking out her very own pumpkin. So far I’ve been here twice this fall and plan on coming back again before the seasons over!

Went here on a Saturday to pick apples and eat donuts with cider! I was not disappointed. The place was very crowded (’tis the season) but we didn’t have to wait in long lines and were fairly secluded in the orchard as everyone was busy picking pumpkins. The hay ride to the orchard is free, which was a nice added bonus. We’ve been eating apples all week and they are delicious!
The only downside to Gaver Farms is that it is packed with families with kids. Everywhere. We were the only people there without children. Not exactly a romantic place.

Nice fun place, BUT NOT DOG FRIENDLY, which I understand, I just read a review that it says that they are and they are not! They even have an attitude if you ask them about dog policy
They do have a lot of fun activities for the kids, enough parking and of course beautiful fall mums, and pumpkins
So take the kids and enjoy the fall fun and leave your dog home (easy to write, hard to do)

My family came here for the first time this weekend. Honestly, we had a lot of fun. There were a lot of kid friendly activities available (long slides, balls to toss into holes, tricycles, feeding goats, hay rides, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, and just general fun stuff for kids). My kids were busy playing for a few hours, and probably could have stayed a little longer if it wasn’t getting close to dinner time. There is also a nice large barn where there is sitting areas to eat and buy items from their bakery. They have samples for different fudges which was nice to try. Their bakery has pies, cookies, and of course apple cider donuts. The items i tried were very good. The donuts we ate were not fresh, but they were still tasty. We did order in the late afternoon which may explain it. Admission on the weekend is a little pricier than i expected, but not entirely unreasonable. As of September 2015, it was $ 9.50 per person above 2 years old on weekends, and ~$ 7.50 on weekdays.
In any event, we were happy with the experience here and would come again. On this trip, I did not notice any unfriendly staff. However, after reading some reviews from 2014 though, i’ll be a little more observant.

The Great Pumpkin would approve.
I have only been during the Fall season, but definitely a great local pumpkin option! Lots of activities for the kids to do and lots and lots of pumpkins to pick from! They also have house made fudge which is delish! Totally considering having my daughters nexy birthday party here.
The only negative is that if you are looking for a Fall trip for pumpkins and apples, this is not the place to go. Aside from that it is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon!

We are semi-​new to the area so we had only been to two other farms before going to Gaver. They just have so much going on and the scenery is great so we were initially very impressed. We went for a field trip so there were lots of families there but since they have so much space and so many activities, it did not even seem very busy. Our 3 year old ran himself ragged the entire time we were there and I am not even sure we hit everything.
The only real draw back to this place is the bathroom situation. Those porta-​potties were very, very gross. That makes things pretty difficult when you have a particular little one. Perhaps if they were better maintained it wouldn’t be as big of an issue but they were definitely in bad shape. If you are going to force patrons to use porta-​potties at least trying to make sure they are emptied regularly and are not completely disgusting and dark; it’s intimidating for kids. It’s really too bad that this is the part that stands out the most from our trip.
All in all, I would say Gaver is a fun trip but the jury is still out on which farm will be our family favorite.

Best pumpkin patch I’ve been too. They had a good selection of animals, the pumpkins were huge, the bathrooms were clean and there was a lot of activities too! We will be going back next year!

Today had such promise. Like literally five minutes would’ve made the difference between a stunningly awesome day and a sour taste in my mouth. In fact it cost Gaver farm lots of future dinero that I will not be sending their way. I am a part of and run two large groups that I’d hoped would benefit, visit, enjoy the farm for years to come, however they’ve ruined it for me, my friends and my family.
It was rainy but due to the large size of our group (70!) we decided to forge ahead anyway. We were there to celebrate a very special event that had lots of meaning and was set up for our kids. We were told that the slides would be closed until the rain stopped for at least 15min then they’d be squeegeed & wiped by staff, signaling their opening. This totally happened.
Then, it became misty about 15 min later so we called our kids off the slides all on our own, as there was zero supervision from farm staff. When the rain finally stopped again-​and it stayed dry the rest of the time– they went back on and played for quite awhile, about 2hrs, without any sign of farm staff to tell us otherwise.
In fact, the kids were told by farm staff they were in the clear for White Lightning particularly. At no point did anyone come out onto the property to inform us that anything had changed.
So WHY? Why oh why did we have 15min left before leaving the farm with another great memory under our belts when the owner tore up the property toward where we were, complaining that we were in the wrong for using the slides? I headed toward the car, my desire to stay evaporated, and saw my friend with tears streaming down her face as she was pulling out of the lot because the owner had gotten in her face, leaving her sobbing. Some kids were very upset that they’d been spoken to in a very mean way and told to get off the slides; they were naturally very upset that they had been spoken to this way when farm staff had previously told them they were good to go.
My friend is a kind mother of three well-​behaved kids (2 under 3) who took a risk and brought them to spend a fun day out– I know from experience that it’s more than just a notion to accomplish such a feat. All day long her kids were off the slides and very near her, as always, doing what they were supposed to do. They were on their way out, and assuming from what we’d been told earlier that they were okay to slide once the rain stopped, stopped briefly to let the kids slide before leaving for good; It was a long walk to the car for little legs. It hadn’t rained for hours. No mist, no drizzle, no drops. So why did the owner get within inches of her face and begin yelling at her and continue yelling despite my friend attempting to de-​escalate by saying «okay, sorry, no problem we’re leaving»?
I also later learned that the guy who ran a part of our hayride was very harsh when speaking to the kids and moms on their «tour» (which is hardly that, but I digress). I can’t help but wonder if we were not of the right background to suit their preferences and somehow they got the spectacularly false impression that we would stand this sort of treatment. It was clear they felt brave enough to behave this way toward us without any fear of complaint.
We are part of a large community, well-​connected and well versed in solidarity. Business owners and staff should think twice before persisting in old ways of thinking when it comes to dealing with paying customers.

We were referred to Gaver Tree Farm’s Fall Festival by some friends. I was a little concerned that the drive wouldn’t be worth it (from Anne Arundel County) but it exceeded our expectations! We were surprised to find activity after activity, animals, and lots of photo ops (all inclusive in the fall festival price) before we even made it to the (free) hay ride and pumpkin patch.
Our group consisted of my husband, myself, our 10 month old and my parents. EVERYONE had fun going down slides, having duck races, taking photos at the cute photo props and feeding/​interacting with the animals. What we thought would have been an hour pushing around a stroller and taking a few pictures turned into a fun-​filled day that even our little one could participate in. But don’t let that fool you, it could also just be a quick trip to pick a pumpkin, if you prefer. And when I say «pick a pumpkin», I mean you really pick your pumpkin off of the vine. That was pretty neat and something I had never done before. I can’t wait to bring our son back and «watch him grow» each year. We may even come back to cut down our own Christmas tree.

For the last couple of years we have gone to a different tree farm, but this year we thought we’d give this one a try and were definitely glad we did!
1.Trees are priced similarly to other cut your own tree farms.
2. There is a fabulous variety of trees and the farm is well labeled with tree type and price so that you actually know what you’re getting before you cut it down!
3. There’s a playground and a feeder machine to feed the goats, which works as a great bribe to keep the kids focused on the tree hunting.
4. There’s a barn full of greenery, wreaths and yummy treats including hot cider and cider donuts to end out the afternoon.
