Mt Lemmon Cookie Cabin

This is ONE of three/​four places to check out. Cookies over-​priced and pizza. Cute place. Clean. But just «okay».

SO there are THREE places to buy a meal in My Lemmon. This is one of the choices — it only serves pizza and cookies. And the cookies could count as a meal in itself (they are about $ 6−7/per) and the size of your head. What would a petite gal do if she just wanted a normal human-​sized cookie do?
As it was there were 4 of us and we spilt the combo cookie (about 7 cookies all made and baked together in a flower shape. None of them blew me away, but I can see the appeal. Free refills on huge sodas. The hot cocoa was also huge.

We were really looking forward to a big, warm, gooey, chocolate chip filled cookie after a day of hiking long trails on Mt Lemmon.
For 6.50, we got a gigantic chocolate chip cookie. Problem was, it was severely lacking in chocolate chips. Then entire half inch circumference had nary a chip, and even the center had very few chips. The cookie itself was not much to write home about either.
Eh, for the cost of the cookie, it’s not a good buy.

One of the best parts of traveling up Mt Lemmon is reaching the Cookie Cabin, hands down!
I’ve had everything from the giant cookies, to the berry cobblers, the hot cocoa, root beer floats, hot dogs, and even their chili. Everything is pretty good.
When trying the cookies, go for the sampler. Nothing’s better than trying a little bit of every flavor, in one! Also, the berry cobbler is a favorite of mine. Slightly sweet, but the melted ice cream helps balance it out into a heavenly delight. For anyone who is a fan of chili, I recommend that they do try the one they have here. It’s delicious, especially during the winter time.
This is definitely the type of place to bring first timers to town, the family (both furry and human), or even just a mini getaway out of the city! They have indoor and outdoor seating, so it easily accommodates anyone with pets or large families.
During the summer time it’s a nice view driving up the mountain and taking pictures, while slowly escaping the summer heat, as the temperature tends to drop the further up you go. (so even if the city is in the 90’s, the mountain may reach the higher 60/70’s in the afternoon) As for the fall/​winter time, it’s a beautiful time and place to enjoy the color turning of leaves and to bundle up with your loved ones to a hot cup of cocoa and maybe even share one of their large bowls of chili.

Fun place to take the kids and put your face into a huge pizza pie or ala mode cookie! Great service and fun environment.

This review is only for the giant cookies.
I’ve had the oatmeal: it was too much sweetness I felt sick.
And the brownie cookie: it was heaven. So crusty on the crust and the soft chewy inside. It ate half of it on the car ride down the mountain. That’s a LOT of cookie to eat within 20 min. Maybe it’s a preference for chocolate but I thought the brownie cookie was exactly what it sounds like. A brownie that was made into a cookie!

Enormous cookies to satisfy cold people and empty bellies. Some cookie flavored sell out fast. Had the standard chocolate chip and some chili on a cold day. It hit the spot. The pizza also seems popular.

I would leave zero stars, but the one can go for friendly staff.
Pizza seriously tastes like frozen tombstone pizza… No wait, tombstone tastes better. Zero flavor.
And way overpriced. I guess they feel like they don’t have to try too hard since they sell pizza.
Cookies are okay. Nothing magical.
I will not come back.

Nope, still awesome! Maybe I’m just lucky. Every time we come up here, the staff (mostly kids) are funny and super helpful, the pizza is very good (having found Rocco’s in Tucson I am willing to concede it may not rival a deep dish Kitchen Sink, you need to keep this place in the context it was meant to be enjoyed in — but «so bad we spit it out»? Not even remotely close in our experience!). Is it possible I come only on days when they are on their A game? I guess. But it’s not likely. I love it for what it is. A cute «mom and pops» type place serving simple but good food in a gorgeous location. It’s not trying to be gimmicky or gourmet. Mad love for the cookie cabin.

Knowing touristy places are always more expensive, my husband and I were joking about sharing a $ 5 cookie and wondering what the offerings would be. Having been to many places that cater to tourists, we expected higher prices. but we really weren’t expecting the reality of the Cookie Cabin. (Foolishly, we didn’t take time to read Unilocal reviews first.) Well, the joke was on us! The cookie wasn’t $ 5.which we agreed would be a rediculous price, but hey… day trip. only cookie on the hill. that sort of reasoning. we could handle. No. this week the cookies are $ 6.50, unless you get the ‘sampler’ for $ 7.50. Now I have been known to purchase expensive cookies before, even giant ones, but I’m pretty sure I never paid that much for one cookie. one that, I have to confess, I was complaining about the entire time I was stuffing it in my mouth :/​ (In my defense, I was very hungry!) FYI, my complaining wasn’t about the cost. which is totally stupid since I know how much cookies cost to make. No, it was about the totally horrible flavor of that mountain masterpiece. It looked good, smelled ok, but truly, no flavor. Ugh! Probably only the second cookie I’ve ever gagged on. Tasted like they use cheap shortening, instead of butter, or something with flavor. I could supply a dozen excellent cookie recipes, if they want them!
As for the staff… the young lady sweeping up was very friendly and offered to help the girl at the register, if she was too busy. She didn’t look busy to us. She, too, was reasonably friendly until we paid. We left no tip on that $ 6.50 gack cookie, since all she did was slide it onto a paperplate and ring it up. When she realized there was no tip, her attitude became quite frosty.
In summary, ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ regarding decent service, but we would neverrrrr buy their cookies again. Life is way too short to waste it on bad cookies.

I took my daughter and dog up for some hiking. We stopped in for some pizza and cookie and ice cream after.
The cookie was good with ice cream on top! They pull them fresh out of the warmer and scoop it on. It was prepackaged cookie dough. No mamas cooking here.
The pizza oh the pizza… I honestly debated the amount of stars given. This «pizza» would make someone have wet dreams over crapy little cesars pizza… It was so bad my 5 year old, who is under the impression pizza is a food group wouldn’t eat it… My hungry dog spit it out… I have never seen that fatty spit anything out! At 5.50 for a slice of burnt cardboard covered in oil and salt. What a deal!

Extremely dog friendly… Give us water for our 2 Danes. Patio is nice. Lots of tables and have umbrella’s at each table. Pizza was so fresh. Hubby loves their fresh baked large cookies. I think it is the only dog friendly place in town.

This cute little place was the perfect stop following our beautiful drive up Mt. Lemmon. The chocolate chip cookie was so soft and delicious and I had the perfect cup of coffee. I wish we would have tried more food, everything being brought out looked great just couldn’t justify the prices so –1 star.

Nasty, the pizza was horrible, we ordered the pepperoni pizza. I could have microwaved a better pizza. It even smelled odd, it was bland and gross. Decided to try the cookie since it looked delicious, it was okay nothing great either just cookie dough you buy from the store. Ended up sick after eating here. I will not be returning.

Came up here for the famous «cookie w/​ice cream» and I’m sad to say it was a disappointment. The cookie was not warm whatsoever and it was quite pricey to be honest. Probably won’t bother ordering that again next time I visit…

Cutest little place! I love pizza and chocolate, so this place was perfect for me. Not much searing available on busy days it seems a bit tight, but besides that, perfectly relaxing place to grab a bite to eat!

Let me say first, I am currently eating one of their chocolate chip cookies that we got this morning and it’s STILL soft, chewy, and amazing.
Now. I do not understand these low star reviews. You people must be extremely impatient, impolite, and picky.
I have been up to Mt. Lemmon and their cookie cabin hundreds of times in the many years I’ve lived here and the only horrors I’ve witnessed are long lines and above mentioned people. But never have I received terrible or rude service and have never gotten the feeling that we were unwelcome. I have been on extremely busy Sundays and during the mid-​week when no one comes up.
They have taken down all these «terrible» signs I’ve read of, I’ve never actually seen them, but they are no longer there. They only have 3 that I saw, which were completely understandable.
One, no running or yelling. Understandable because this is a restaurant, not a playground. Plus who wants to hear children screaming/​yelling in a serene, peaceful environment? No running? Duh. Who wants a booboo? Not me.
Two, no rowdy dogs. Same deal, no one wants a dog constantly barking and causing ruckus in this beautiful, peaceful environment.
Three, no climbing on the paved rocks that now surround their NEWLY built seating area to accommodate more people. Seems welcoming to me, also it seems the new seating is for dog owners as it’s gravel ground so it would be easier to pick up «accidents».
These do not seem unwelcoming at all people. Common sense here. Now don’t get me wrong, I am all for children and pets. I’m an extreme lover and care giver for both, but there is nothing wrong with a well behaved child or dog. Like I stated, it is a restaurant and a business. Not a playground or a dog park. As stated earlier, they’ve completely re-​done their outdoor seating. They’ve expanded it and have added umbrellas to every table which was a very cute and welcoming add on.
Now on to the food, bear with me people. My husband and I always get a pizza with sausage, onion, and green peppers. It’s cooked perfectly each time and I have loved their pizza forever. We have never received a bad pizza and I’m not being a generous reviewer! We all have our different pizza styles and I’ve always loved this one. I haven’t had any other food going here so I can’t comment on those but the chili has always enticed me.
Their cookies now, I have received a few cookies that have let me down but most of the time I’m sitting in heaven with chewy, gooey, warm cookie. My favorites are the choco chip and the brownie.
As for beverages, we always get the Arnold Palmer which is a lemonade/​iced tea combo of amazingness. We have had hot choco before but it’s just the packet stuff and not worth it. They have an array of beverages for all the likings.
Well people, this concludes my review. Y’all really need to take in what Mt. Lemmon is. To me, it’s a sanctuary high above the noise and confusion. I miss my Texas forests and this is as close as I can get; makes me feel right at home.

Okay okayyy, I know this place is called the Cookie Cabin, but I’m gonna talk about their pizza. It is SO GOOD! The very first time my bf and I went to Mt. Lemmon we ate here and got a pizza (pepperoni, sausage & olive)… and every trip back to Mt. Lemmon means a stop here for some pizza. I honestly didn’t expect such a superb pie the first time we came but that’s what we got and the flavor has been consistent every trip back.
This place gets reeeeeally packed on the weekends, but grab a hot chocolate & frolic around while you wait. It’s worth it! And one day I’ll try one of their cookies… :)
