Delicious food and very friendly staff… Good energy all around. The vegan mac and cheese is the best in the area, and so are the cakes, cookies, etc. I work down the street and I may have to keep this job until I retire, just so I can have daily access to Sweet and Natural!

Great place, the area is so lucky to have a place like this. Easily rivals Woodlands!

I Really want to Like this Place but after going about 10 times so far I’m just done with it. The Protein is always so over cooked it’s completely inedible ! Sides tastes really good though, it’s almost like you should just get your Main Protein some where else then come in for the sides and pastries. Maybe one day they can get away from Cafeteria Style food!

This place is so not in a convenient location, but if you are into vegan food, please visit them. They are, as everyone notes, so nice. Let me start by saying that if you pay by credit card, there’s no way to tip, so bring cash for a tip, if you like to tip your servers. With that said, when you walk into Sweet & Natural, you’ll be greeted by a staff member and the sounds and smells of vegan baking. You will also hear and see them chopping veggies and mixing up delicious baked goods if you peek into the back kitchen area. The counter is filled with cake to go, the hot bar overflowing with cooked vegan food and the refrigerator chock full of, yes, more cake, along with sandwiches and beverages. They also make some salad sides, so if you are there at the right time you can find ‘em in the fridge. As others have noted there is no menu! However, they do list the suspected items to be prepared and served that day on the wall… So there is an idea of what you have in store. While it may irk you A-type people, don’t worry– there will be something here that is delicious. Pot pie? Quiche? Mac n cheese? Vegan seitan beef steak with veggies? Not into gluten– collard greens that taste like real collards and not just salt and oil? Sweet potatoes with a generous spiced flavor, not just mushy sweet? Braised broccoli and other veggies(zucchini? Brussels sprouts?!) to fiber-up your meal? Tofu teriyaki? Black beans(or chick peas) with rice? Fried ‘fish’ or ‘chicken’? Burritos? Sandwiches? When you order, you have 3 choices: 1) a small side of some item, 2) a large side of some item or 3) a plate/to go box with items. It seems like that latter is $ 8-$ 10 or so and you can pick an entrée with 2 or 3 sides… Or just pick all sides… Which I prefer. It depends on lunch or dinner that the price differs. I think? You vegan brunch fanatics will appreciate their offerings of couscous sausage, potatoes, grits, tofu scramble and the like. Go on weekends for it! The food had a lot of spice and flavor without over salting or oiling. I actually feel that this place is better than Woodlands in every way but the menu and lack of choices(i.e. beverages, appetizers and raw food). This place feels cleaner, fresher and healthier for lunch, brunch or dinner. They have plenty of seating, and there is even a pair of tables outside on the very uncrowded side walk. You might know them for their vegan baking, and you might even try out a new flavor here, but nothing extraordinarily different than you have seen around the area at local markets(cake, cupcakes, cookies, muffins). If you go here, it’s really to have the fresher cake(FYI: gluten free is half the cake case) and have a decent priced compostable plate full of tasty cooked vegan food. If someone asks to go to Mt. Ranier for anything, I am definitely going to be here.

I really enjoyed the food at Sweet Natural! Mr. Victor was very curtious, respectful and kind. He made recommendations to me and allowed me to ask a billion questions while keeping his smile on the whole time! I live a little over 45 minutes a way but since my parents are in the vicinity, I’ll definitely be back! I had the chicken, sweet potatoes, greens and mac and cheese. I enjoyed them all! The Cookies and Cream cake was scrumdiddly-umptious! Check it out!

They have grown to be my favorite vegan spot. It has only been a week and I’ve been 3 times. Lol… It’s the cakes that keep calling my name.

I have been a fan of the vegan cake that I pick up from whole foods for years now! I had this place on my list for a while! I was so excited that we were greeted with the same happiness and excitement! I was told that the Mac and cheese was amazing and yes it was! I had the vegan fried«chicken», kale and Mac n cheese! Of course I picked up some cake as well! They have many flavors you can’t find at whole foods! Thanks for the great food and great customer service!

From the moment you enter the business you are greeted by some of the best people ever!!! To start the food is so appetizing and to think it is all done without any animal products. I am giving a million shout outs. The menu changes often so you will always have a variety to try. I have been a client since the beginning of summer 2015 and I am so excited about this establishment. With all they have to offer, just wish there was more than one. Maybe you could add one in the Silver Spring area.(SMILE) You are an inspiration to the food industry whose main concern is money over health. You choose healthier alternatives for your clients. Thanks.

I love the place. Sometimes the foods is amazing and others when I order it has been under seasoned. I continue business there as I love the food, just try it before you buy it. I’ve been disappointed before.

I really enjoy Sweet & Natural desserts, but I couldn’t leave out of there without picking up a platter of vegan soul food for dinner. Everything was well seasoned and tasty.

I wish I had read Eric’s review before driving out to Maryland specifically to try this place. It was AWFUL — the food, service, lack of water, and cleanliness were all appalling. The terrible service started things off on a bad note. The large black lady behind the counter was extremely rude to my partner and me, when we had gone out of our way to be friendly to her(though didn’t call her babe — I wonder if that would have made a difference?!) We couldn’t tell what any of the food was in the glass case, but when we inquired she was dismissive, rude, and didn’t speak directly to us(we couldn’t hear her answers even though she was 4 feet away) and didn’t answer all of questions on what food was there. After we received our food, she walked away immediately so we weren’t able to check out or order the dessert we wanted. Another man came out(on the phone) to check us out. The food was disgusting! I have been vegan for nearly 10 years and this is some of the absolute worst food I have had in those 10 years. The yams were FAR to sweet — no flavor but sugar. The meatloaf(that did not resemble meatloaf at all) was cold, dry, and crumbly(it looked like the fake ground meat you can buy at the grocery store just poured on the plate) — and was about ¼ of the portion of the Mac and cheese. The only reason the Mac and cheese was edible was due to the large amount of pepper used, which was all we could taste — oh, and it was also cold. This place is not worth the drive when you can buy their baked goods(which are not nearly as good as sticky fingers) at many locations in the city.

I go there on the regular. I’ve tried just about everything. The greens, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes and chicken nuggets was my very first meal. I was smitten. Generous portions. Skip the drinks too sweet. The food is good, the cakes are good, the employees are good although sometimes slow because they give you alot of attention. Carry on…

Sweet and Natural was the reason I moved to this neighborhood. OK, that’s not really true, but it might as well be. Every weekend, I stop by around noon for vegan fried chicken(don’t forget to ask for BBQ sauce), mac and cheese(my favorite in the world), and a mix of tofu scramble and sweet potatoes. Plus cornbread and a raspberry drop cookie with a cup of sorrel and ginger lemonade mixed together. Other good dishes: mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, waffles and pancakes(only available on weekends but hey! You can have a vegan version of chicken and waffles! I can barely contain my exclamation points!), rice and beans, succotash(s&n making an okra lover out of me, those sneaky magicians), lasagna, meatloaf, collards. They have a two-week rotating menu so you should go every day for two weeks to see what you like best. Oh, and the dudes who work here are cool as hell. It takes a while to order sometimes, but chill out and stare at the crazy ceiling and art. Where do you really have to be anyway? Have I written songs about this place? It’s none of your business. What of it? TL;DR: this all-vegan soul food restaurant is AMAZING, but it’s closed on Mondays so don’t you dare get your hopes up on that worst of all days. I’ve been crushed before.

Sweet and natural is anything BUT sweet. The lady apparently is only sweet to you if you flirt with her and call her babe. So because i failed to call her babe and asked her questions about brunch I got a very disdain look towards me. Then… they didn’t have any water. After repeated inquiry about my water I was told it was coming but never did. Then they also almost gave my change to another couple that look nothing like my friend and I. But mostly the secret to this place is to call the big black lady serving the food babe.

This place isn’t fancy, but it has great vegan comfort food, and you get your food quickly because its a hot bar. I’ve been here twice, and had different food each time(except for the sweet potato casserole which I just had to get again!) The guy behind the counter let us have samples before we made our selections, and it really helped us decide what to get. They have cakes and cookies. I had the sweet potato cake which I split with my boyfriend, because it’s a generous size. Oh yeah, one thing I wish they’d change is to have the utensils and napkins on a counter, so I could grab as many napkins instead of making do with the one small square paper napkin that they gave me with my plate. All the food was delicious. I will return again and again!

When I strolled into Sweet and Natural on a Sunday afternoon, the stellar man behind the counter warned me that people have withdrawals from the mac and cheese. Lo and behold, nearly two weeks have passed, and I still dream of the tangy, savory perfection of their mac and cheese. As a veggie about to hit her ten-year mark, I’ve had an absurd amount of vegan mac and cheese in this lifetime… and absolutely nothing can beat the dish at Sweet and Natural. With all the food that my partner and I blew through, there was a solid mix of amazing dishes and so-so dishes. The mac and cheese, fried chicken, blueberry waffles, and cornbread were all fantastic. I highly recommend any of these — not simply because they approximate their dairy– and meat-laden originals, but because they taste BETTER than the«originals.» However, there were a few things that we’d deem as «not bad, but nothing special,» namely the tofu scramble, creamed spinach, and hot, syrupy apples. And seriously, do your life a favor and get the ginger lemonade. They nail it here! The service was spectacular! The man behind the counter was funny, helpful, and honest. The food came out quickly and at the perfect temperature. The décor was great, but the seating could use a bit of an update. Still, the whole experience was a positive one that I am eager to replicate!
