Sundance Energy staff are well trained — they know what they are doing and I don’t have to worry about after they service. Sundance Energy is my trusted advisor for my heating and cooling needs. I love the Mitsubishi ductless they installed for our house too! They are in Bothell as well.

We had a great experience with Doug @ Sundance. We were in the market for a gas insert fireplace. Everyone representing company was very professional. Doug sat with us and talk through all our options. He was patient and helpful. Understanding that we were working on a limited budget he recommended a slightly blemished (it had a barely noticable scratch — totally cosmetic) unit their had on hand for a discount. I took one star out because when the service crew came out they used a standard size pipe instead of the larger one we discussed (for we had future plans). However, I truly believe when the time comes for more improvements, they’ll get us as repeat customers.
We’ve actually also used their plumbing services a year before we installed our gas insert. It was all due to the failure of the first company our home warranty had sent out to us multiple times. Finally the home warranty relented and gave us a second company (Sundance) to fix the leak. They came out without any delay, and checked out the leak in the wall. They gave us a totally different reason for the drip drip drip sounds we were hearing in the walls and fixed the hot water output so we weren’t scalding ourselves in the tub. All was remedied quickly.

I just purchased a new home and saw that the heater was installed in 2013 was very pleased to see this.
This weekend moved in and realized the heater was not working. This heater was installed by Sundance had been serviced by Sundance so naturally figured it made sense to call them. Could not get through over the weekend even though they claim 24 hour service.
Called first thing Monday morning and explained the situation. Promised to have someone out between 12−6pm, had my wife rearrange her schedule. I get a phone call at 4 to tell me they can’t come out that day, even though this is my only heat source, I am told they have lots of people without heat and that they are taking care of the old first. They don’t know me, my age, my health issues or those of my spouse.
I explain that I can get the company that takes care of the heating and A/​C for my company instead and they could care less. For a company to not try to take care of their customers and new products and assume (instead of ask) is beyond poor business practices, if I ran my companies this way I would be out of business.
This is only the second review I have ever written (other about a doctor) but customer service and lack of care is something I just feel others should know when looking for a company. We all work hard and it costs us more than just money to change our schedules for these places and just to be blown off like they’re the most important and only game in town.
FYI I called my other company, they will be out today, rearranged their schedule to accommodate me. They only do commercial is the reason I don’t promote them.
If you try this company I hope you have a better experience. Hope this helps you make a decision one way or another

Extremely poor communication on the installation location for our new system. They installed it on a different wall that originally described and Sundance wanted an additional $ 1400 to move it. This should be common practice to document the installation locations which was not done on my sales contract. Outside of that a unit upstairs from mine was also done, unfortunately with that install the condensation leaks down the side of the building and drips on to piping, very annoying but they did eventually correct that.

We came home the second week in November to a cold house. I asked around and got a recommendation for Sundance from a friend who’s used them in the past. They came out promptly and «red-​tagged» our furnace, saying that the heat exchanger was cracked and could be leaking carbon monoxide. The actual fault was almost certainly in the wiring between the thermostat and the furnace: the cracked heat exchanger wasn’t why it wasn’t working. Red tagging means disabling the furnace. The homeowner can put it back together if s/​he wants, but clearly not advised in this case. We do have CO detectors, and neither was registering abnormal CO. We got on the schedule four cold days later. They sold us an 80% efficient furnace and a ductless heat pump, which will also work as A/​C, and upsold us on a new water heater to replace the 20 year old unit that was working perfectly well. The installation took four days instead of the two days promised due to some incorrect measurements by them that resulted in them having to bring in a second water heater and getting the wrong ducting the first time. Everything was working by the time they left, but the heat pump installation was incomplete in that they didn’t bolt down the exterior unit or finish sealing the outside of the house where the heat pump piping went through the wall, and the electrician left a mess of cut off wiring ends, brackets and stuff. They also stained the carpet in the basement next to the furnace. The good news is everything works and the house is warm.
A month later, my wife filled out an email survey Sundance sent, in which they asked for feedback on the job. It turned out that the foreman on our job never completed the paperwork closing out the job, so they didn’t realize it was still in progress until they got the survey back. At least, that was their story. J.D. called my wife and attempted to intimidate and browbeat her into saying the job was done and pay the bill. She asked me to intervene, so I identified Curtis Dahl as one of the owners of Sundance by going to the state website on business registrations and called him directly. Mr. Dahl was tactful and polite, heard my feedback, and scheduled a time to come to the house and get things squared away. Mr. Dahl saw to it that our carpet was cleaned, and the rest of the installation was taken care of and cleaned up. That was in December.
Then it was March, and we received another bill for the balance. I told Mr. Dahl back in December that the payment would be forthcoming when the installation passed inspection by the city. We still hadn’t seen inspectors, nor do we have copies of the building permits, so I called Sundance and told Theresa, who answered the phone, that we’d pay when it passed inspection. At the end of last week, Theresa called to say the permits were in the mail and the inspection was scheduled for yesterday (Tuesday, April 28). We received the permits, and yesterday two City inspectors showed up, one for «mechanical» and one for «electrical.» They asked who did the installations, and when my wife told them Sundance they both said great, they’re good. After a cursory inspection they signed off. Sundance will get paid in full next week.
I give Sundance three stars, an A-​OK rating, because everything works and it passed City inspection. I don’t give them four or five stars because J.D. is rude and overbearing, because this took too long, with too many appointments and phone calls, and because of the worry that ensued. One of the permits wasn’t pulled until April 22! The worry, which turned out to be unfounded, was that the installation was not up to code and that’s why this was taking so long.

Run don’t walk away from this business. I had a zero clearance fireplace installed in an existing chimney by this company. They did a shoddy job of the framing but we had the contractor already here to rectify. What was not obvious was the chimney cap installation as located around 40 feet above the ground level. They placed a new flue over 30 year old sheet metal and poorly performed. Prior to the warranty expiration, we developed a leak that extended from the top of a second story chimney to the first floor kitchen. We called, they couldn’t come. We got someone else to tarp the leak, they still couldn’t come. We contacted them through an attorney to declare whether they intended to honor the warranty and repair the chimney and cover the thousands it cost to repair the damage, they failed to respond. These people only want to make a sale and from J.D. the salesman who recommended an overpriced contractor for finish work, to the partial owner who explained they were too busy to stop our leak, come out and inspect the damage, they have no business ethics. We have obtained three opinions for the insurance company that state the work performed was substandard and did not meet the criteria for water exclusion. Stay away from this company unless you like correcting self induced problems. After this posting the company has purportedly made a partial restitution. I will amend the review further once total restitution is made. Heidi has been the one ray of sunshine in that she sincerely wants to help and has been very professional.

I had to wait almost 2 months to get an appointment (the end of Dec). Unfortunately, Sundance is the only company that works on my type of fireplace. I know this because I called 9 other heating repair businesses! I was hoping to get someone in here sooner, as my gas fireplace is my main source of heat. My house was freezing on those cold November & December days, so much so that I would come home from work and then leave again because it was so unbearable! I am so relieved to have my fireplace back in working order!
The price, in my opinion, was pretty steep just to replace the thermo coupler, $ 348. I do realize that a portion of the price is the service call, even though that is to be waived if you have the repair done. As a single mom, that’s a lot of dough to slap on the table at one time. I try to do my own repairs around the house and even on my car, but obviously, I wasn’t going to mess with a gas appliance and feel comfortable doing so.
It was nice to have someone in my house that I felt I could trust (Dwight: owner). He was very professional, thorough and clean. Thank you for doing a great job. Our home is now warm again.

We were in the market for an expensive 4-​zone heat pump mini split system and called Sundance because they had been advertising a special offer on New Day northwest. When the sales technician came to our house to look things over and prepare a quote– he made it abundantly clear that he wanted us to sign on the dotted line before he left the house. He left disgruntled when we wouldn’t agree to the $ 15K plus system right there on the spot. Subsequently, we requested an itemized cost break down, as this was a very big purchase for us and we wanted to know exactly what we were paying for rather than just a lump sum amount. This request was met with a «well, I could do that but that would be a lot of homework for me, and well… I don’t really have time for homework right now». The next request was for confirmation that the offer/​discount had been applied, to which the sales associate responded «well, just trust me, you are getting the best price, a better price than what you would get with the discount». Give me a break– could this process be any more ambiguous and frustrating? We called up Rossoe the next day and their sales technician have us a detailed, itemized proposal without us having to ask for it, and the process was as clear and pressure-​free as it could have been. Very happy with our decision and feel sorry for anyone who falls victim to one of Sundance’s greedy salesmen.

I love the guys at Sundance. Every time I have a catastrophe, they are here within 30 minutes. They never say, «I told you so» — even though they did. Today, it’s my hot water heather. By the looks of things, it’s been leaking for a long time. I’m lucky there is no major damage. So, I told them they told me so. :) What I really like about their customer service is that they not only give high-​level cost estimates over the phone so that I can compare options (tank v. tankless), they explain to me why one option is more costly than the other. So, if you’re a single mom who has no idea how to deal with furnaces, hot water heaters and air systems, this the company for you.

Woke up to no hot water and found the water heater leaking all over the garage. Unfortunately it was snowing outside, so that was going to slow things down. They came out and inspected it and gave me the estimate. Not really sure how their pricing compares because I didn’t check anywhere else. I was just happy to have some out the same day on a snow day. They installed the new water heater the same day even though I needed a fairly rare gas version with electric exhaust fan and pilot.

The pilot light on our tankless water heater kept randomly failing to ignite, leaving us with no hot water and no heat whenever it decided to turn itself off. The repairman sent to my house was right on time and very polite and conversational. He diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes which was great, and overall I was happy with the service as a whole. I’m deducting a star because the person with whom I made the appointment told me they charged $ 99 plus tax to send someone out to diagnose, but that was waived if the repair is completed. When he told me the total was $ 140, citing the $ 99 diagnosis fee but saying this kind of repair costs a bit more, I asked why I was told the diagnosis fee would be waived if the repair was completed. He scrunched up his face and said, wellllllll, that’s not exactly true, they need to mention how this costs a little more. Having worked in customer support for many years, I knew that airing my frustration with him would only make him feel bad for something that wasn’t in his power, so I paid and sent him on his way. However, I can’t help feeling a little duped, especially since a big reason I hired this company was due to the fact they didn’t charge an arm and a leg just to have someone show up.

The young man that came to service my furnace today was not only punctual, but also very professional, courteous, upbeat, and knowledgeable. He made sure to explain to me what he was doing and looking at, and what condition the components were in as he was doing his inspection and testing them. He introduced me to additional services that Sundance provides and I may need in the future if I choose, in a very conversationally-​relevant, helpful, and non-​pushy way. He exemplifies the kind of customer service that every company would hope to have in their employees when they are out representing the company. I give my highest praise for him, as well as for your company for recognizing and employing his talent. As a result, I will highly recommend you to everyone that may need your service, and I will certainly do business with you again.

Wow, It took Sundance over 24 hours to respond to my sales appointment request to give them my business. I will give my money to a company that doesn’t laugh on the phone when I mentioned it takes why it took so long to contact me! Steer Clear of Sundance! In the time it took for them to call me back via online inquiry I had already moved on to another company.

It took forever and they had to come out and reinstall the unit. The salesman kept saying it was fine but the manager came out and had them reinstall and fix multiple problems. The end result was good but the idea that they may or may not install a gas unit correctly and may or may not fix it is not good. Thanks to the manager everything appears to be working correctly and safely.

Once they were good, on-​time to service my furnace. So, I called them for a water heater problem and got my water heater replaced by them. Two months later furnace started leaking water. When I called again, they gave me a big estimate to fix the furnace. Upon investigation, I find that the furnace issue originated because these people did not deal correctly with a «T» vent pipe that was shared by furnace and water heater. They let the condensation to occur in the pipe. They have very poor technical expertise. They lost my trust. I do not recommend these people.

Run away! I’d give these guys a negative rating if I could. These guys (specifically JD Davis) sold my 73 year old mother who lives alone a $ 4100+ top of the line tankless hot water heater that she did not need. There was nothing wrong with her current hot water heater other than age. She didn’t need a tankless hot water heater and dear God she didn’t need to spend this much on ANY hot water heater. These predatory selling practices make me so angry and the only warning I can post to others is on Unilocal.Why not a hybrid electric heat pump hot water heater? These cost a fraction of the price and the yearly cost is just as much. They had to convert her to gas for this stupid thing and there is no longer any cost advantage for gas appliances. Beware of this company, they will sell you things you do not need but will be sure to install them really quickly before you can make a more informed choice.

We decided to go through Sundance because of their great sales pitch. During the warranty period, we had several visits from the techs as our flame kept going out. We also had a problem with the ‘glass doors’ that were an optional attachment for the outside of our fireplace windows. They broke twice and the last time when we tried to get them installed we were told that they had to be paid for, and we were still under warranty. We ended up being out $ 200+ as we never paid for the replacement as we paid for them up front. Now we need the fireplace serviced to get it going as we use it every winter. Never were satisfied with the fireplace they said would be the best one for us. Won’t go to them again.

Exactly what I needed, at exactly the right time.
To make a long story short, the main control board on my furnace went out just before the forecast biggest blast of our series of winter storms here. (Hint: As I write this, the outside temperature is 26 °F.) After a few telephone calls to see who locally might have this control board in stock, I found Kevin at Sundance, who walked me through the process of getting a new one. Again making a long story short, I was able to retrieve the new control board from an associate of Kevin and install it, all within five hours of when the problem was first noticed.
I’m thinking that the next time I need service on my furnace, Sundance is who I’ll call, because they’re local (both geographically and for parts), and are very responsive.

They showed up the same day I called because my primary source of heat, the gas fireplace, was not working. Thanks to the Sundance dispatcher for feeling my pain, or in this case, my painfully cold fingers.
Adam, the technician, showed up right on time. He put booties on his shoes to protect my carpeting. Really. Who does that anymore? He cleaned, rewired and fixed my fireplace in under an hour and for under $ 300. He also explained what was going on (too much load on the old, rotting wires thanks to my new programmable thermostat).
The fireplace looks like brand new and best of all it’s toasty-​woasty in here.

When my husband and I decided to add a gas insert to our fireplace, I called a friend who always refers excellent home services companies. She sent us to Sundance as they’d done a great job on her insert which gets used daily.
Curtis came out to my house in Seattle and was super helpful assisting with the decision on which unit to purchase. I had some work done to the face of the fireplace first, and he also helped with referring a mason (artist, really).
When install day came, the team was courteous and communicative on each step. They struggled to insert the tubing down my extra tall 3 story + brick chimney and determined there must be a blockage. Curtis quickly arranged for someone to come out to snake a camera down the chimney; low and behold someone had dumped bricks and cement down it years ago likely to block air and water flow. The quick thinking on Curtis’s part to get someone with a camera, and the information we were able to obtain by seeing the blockage, helped me to find someone else to open my chimney up from the outside (terrifying) and clear it the next day. Sundance worked us into the schedule, and the day after that finished the insert and measured for the custom back plate. The back plate and permit review were done within a week.
Everyone I’ve dealt with at this company from the office staff to the technicians has been kind, courteous and professional. And the work looks great. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. In fact, I will now be using them for my furnace servicing, too — replacing the local company that’s getting my next (negative) review.
