Specialties
The Game Portal is the Twin Lakes areas premier gaming destination. Our goal is to provide area gamers with a place to call «home». Whether you play video/PC or tabletop games (incl. RPG), we carry the supplies you need and provide a place to interact with others that share your gaming interests.
We carry all the latest Collectible Card Games, including Magic: the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, World of Warcraft, Pokemon and Naruto.
We hold weekly tournaments for Magic (including FNM) and monthly tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh! and Warhammer. Our sale and rental video game collection includes everything from Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Playstation 1, 2 and 3 to XBox, 360, Game Cube and Wii. We also have a selection of handheld consoles and games, including Nintendo DS, Game Boy and Sony PSP.
We carry award-winning board games, including the Settlers of Catan series, Talisman, Small World and Steve Jackson’s Munchkin games, to name a few! And we can special order just about anything for you!
History
Established in 2009.
We moved from California to the Mountain Home area in 2005 and quickly realized there were not many places for kids, teens and the young-at-heart to hang out. Having a large family with growing kids, we knew the importance of a safe, fun place to interact with others that have the same gaming interests, and decided it was time to open The Game Portal! In August of 2009 we opened in a little shop on the West end of Mountain Home but quickly outgrew that location. Just 6 months later we moved the store to the strip mall across from the Ramada Inn, near Sun Valley Cinema. We are currently in the process of moving from around the side of the mall to one of the front suites and hope to be moved up there by April 2012. We will probably keep one of the side suites to use for larger tournaments and events and for private parties.

Business Owner
Chris and Vikki moved with their then 3 (now 5!) children to the Twin Lakes area in July 2005. Chris was an avid gamer back in the day, and enjoyed everything from RPG’s to card games to PC/video games. Upon moving to the area and realizing there was not a place for local gamers to come together, his wheels started spinning. In the summer of 2009 his dreams became reality when they opened The Game Portal. Vikki, well, she’s along for the ride! But she does have a pretty mean human MTG deck and just ask her how her Warhammer High Elf army is coming along! =)
