Arborist Ray Morneau

We have a neighbor with a large pine tree that looks kind of unhealthy, and if it falls, it could land on our house. We had used Ray in the past (a number of years ago), so when I saw his listing on Unilocal,I decided to give him a call. I explained the problem with the tree and that we had the neighbor’s permission to look at it with an arborist. Ray came over almost exactly on time and was ready to educate us about the two kinds of beetles that were attacking the local Monterey pines. He showed us where they burrow into the bark and overall was extremely helpful and thorough.
His charges were reasonable and he gave us a full hour of his time to advise us on some other trees we have that are having problems. He also reassured us that even though the pine tree has some bark beetles, the infestation is not deadly and that the tree has plenty of roots to keep it up in a storm. As you can imagine, we were very relieved about that. He also made a few suggestions about trimming the dead branches from the pine tree and adding additional bracing to help it weather severe «El Nino» storms.

Ray is an expert. Any reputable Arborist you talk to will know of Ray. He has been our Arborist consultant for two years now for a construction project. We have a coast live oak on the property only a few feet from the existing house. Due to the size of our lot, it is impossible not to build near protected trees unless we build a bowling alley. Ray has been reasonable, professional, thoughtful, and above all, had lots of suggestions for us to make this happen without impacting the tree in a significant way. We are grateful to have him on our team. I really enjoy working with someone who cares about trees so much.

Over the past year, I did quite a bit of online checking, trying to learn what was ailing one of our trees (a large spruce). But I learned more about appropriate care for the spruce & our other trees in 60 minutes of discussion with Arborist Ray Morneau than in all the earlier searching & reading I’d done.
Ray is clear about which information is substantiated, and what is just assumed helpful, but where there isn’t real evidence.
Great to get expert advice from someone who isn’t trying to sell anything beyond his knowledge.

Very thoughtful and knowledgeable. Was kind enough to reduce his minimum fee for me, knowing that the consultation I needed was not going to take 2 hours. He came back around to check on the root trimming work being done before our driveway was fixed.
