Bailey Plaza Liquors

Came in to donate to the 1.5 billion dollar powerball drawing this past Wednesday and the line was already out the door. Not a huge feat, considering how short the distance is from the registers to the door.
One man came wandering in and pretended to be looking at things before creating a second line with his buddy behind the person at the second register (the one farther away from the door). When it was his turn, the lady very emphatically told him that there is only one line and told him to go back. I wasn’t even sure if she was paying attention, since it was so busy. Anyways, wanted to give applause to this Korean lady (who I think is the older of the two ladies that work there, but she still looks young) for keeping her eye on the line and sending that scumbag to the back of the now longer line.
Ran horrible in the powerball and everything here is still more expensive than other liquor shops, so no upgrade. Still, good to see somebody putting her foot down and laying down the law to an unethical straggler. Kudos for that!

Family owned, some good micros, and that kind of place where they will chase you into the parking lot to give you your change. I’m a loyal and grateful customer.

A bit on the high price end for the high end spirits.

This plaza is interesting in that they have two liquor stores. This is the small of the two and has a decent selection of all things convenience. The strange thing is you can pay bills here? Folks were friendly enough. 3.5 stars

Wines, liquor, spirits, beer, soda, chips… would you like to pay your PG&E bill while you’re at it? …well of course and while I’m here I’ll take a super lotto ticket too. Thank you very much.
Maybe next time I’ll buy that $ 25 nylon Giants jacket. Luv this licka sto… somewhat like the cona licka stos I’m used in North Oakland but his place don’t got the ghetto fabulous edge, but that’s auight… they got it all plus the cheap a$$ wears… jackets, tshirts, caps, beanies, key-​chains, trinkets, and so forth.

LOVE this place — they have the lotto ticket check if you won machine right by the front door. it is my fav place for lotto purchases… and cashing in my winner tickets.
This liquor store is WELL stocked with all the things you would think it should have.
PS: In Safeway next door, they have a touch screen lotto machine BUT the ticket checker on it HAS NEVER WORKED.

Do not buy loose Drum or American Spirit tobacco here! I bought a pack of each, and then promptly went to return them because the tobacco was bone dry. Obviously the packs had been lying around the store for quite some time.
No big deal, I thought, I’ll just run over and exchange them for some Bali Shag, and see how that is. No such luck, though…
When I got to the store, the clerk advised me to talk to the owner, who then made a HUGE deal about it (he was thinking and frowning as if this is a really complicated problem), finally said that they couldn’t exchange tobacco due to anti-​counterfeit measures (?!).
I explained that I should get a refund because the product was not up to standard. It wasn’t that I had somehow changed my mind or something. Instead of just giving me some fresh tobacco, and getting on with it, he whined about how he would lose money (yeah, never mind that I, the customer, had lost money!), until I had enough, and just left.
The hell with it, I’ll find another liquor store; one with quality products and friendly service!

Mountain View NATIVES vs. NEWBIES:
Mountain View newbies use their cell phone GPS systems to find Safeway on Shoreline Blvd. There, they buy WAY overpriced ciggies & alcohol in long, long lines.
Mountain View natives know their way cold to the Liquor store next door, pick up their beer & pay their bills in less than 5 minutes flat.
I used to work at Bailey Liquors, and watched all the newbies in Hybrids going to Safeway to buy cigarettes for $ 6 /​pack, a handle of Absolut for $ 23.99, a 12-​pk of Corona for 15.64… PUNKED!
Meanwhile, the locals would come into Bailey’s next door, we’d ring up their purchases before they even plunked them onto the counter. Pack o’ Camels: $ 3.79. Handle of Absolut: $ 22.99. 12-​pack Corona: $ 13.99.
Then they’d pay their bills here. Here’s the Public Service Announcement portion, for all the MV newbies– you can PAY YOUR BILLS at Bailey Liquors! This includes:

Cingular, and more.
Some of the companies charge $ 1 – 2 service fees, but PG&E, Comcast, AT&T are always free. Bailey Liquors is one of the only authorized payment centers on the Peninsula. Remember this, next time you are overdue on your payment. But, bring your bill stub with you and avoid rush hour (5−6pm) or else all you’ll get will be some Asian girl with dreadlocks shaking her head sympathetically at you. Try to pick up sumthin extra, like a 40oz. while you’re there, cuz the store makes zilch off your bill (it’s just a way to get folks thru the door).
MORAL OF THE STORY: Mountain View Natives know how to save money, save time, and are down with their local business owners. Don’t be a newbie; Be a Mountain View Native. Shop at Bailey Liquors.

You can pay your bills here and save on the cost of postage (ok, you’re paying for gas, but you have to go to the Safeway nearby for groceries eventually, right?). I pay my PG&E bill here with a check, which I know takes 6 days to clear. You can pay your Comcrap/​Crapcast bill here too, as well as others. Run by friendly Koreans.
