Felix’s Auto Service Inc.

I’m really glad that I found Felix’s. My vehicle is 15+ years old, and I’ve had a few issues with it, but Felix’s has always been able to get me fixed up. Pete does a nice job of explaining your options, and lets you know what must be done, and what’s «nice to have». When I take my car here, I feel confident that that high quality work is being done, and that the mechanics are treating my vehicle like they would treat their own.
My only minor complaint is that sometimes I wish they were a little faster with repairs, but I don’t mind too much since: (1) they are busy because they are good, and (2) I’d rather have them take a bit of time and do the job right than rush through it and screw things up.
Your vehicle is is in good hands here.

To the old Caucasian guy that kicked me out of the parking lot. You’re a jerk! I parked there for a couple minutes just to find directions home on my phone. I didn’t know my way around Mountain View. I’m trying to be a responsible driver and not use my phone while driving. I dropped off family at the VTA station and there was no parking there you’re shop was the closest place I saw so I could stop for a couple mins to use my phone. My mistake didn’t know a jerk works there

I stopped by here once for an oil change, servicing, and to get my tires checked because I thought there might be a leak. The mechanic was very nice and explained to me what he was doing (I was curious and asked a couple questions). Overall very happy with the place.

I needed to change out my tires and get an alignment done and fast. My car had been handling terribly. I took it to Pete and he advised me as to what tires I should change and also helped me confirm how off my alignment was by showing me the specs. He was affordable, quick and my car is driving straight and running like a champ. I’d recommend his services to anyone. He is a man of his word and I’ll be coming back.

A couple of days ago I stopped at the location to inquire about doing some simple body work. I quickly spoke with the young man at the desk and then Peter swooped in asking for more details. I needed one fog light to be replaced on my car and he told me that it could be done. He quoted me for removal of the front bumper, bulb installation and labor and told me it would cost about $ 70. He was busy so he asked me to bring the car back two days later in the morning so I dropped off the car shortly after 8AM today, had breakfast in the downtown area while his crew worked on my car. I came back shortly after 9AM, the job was done, it took about half an hour and the bill came up to $ 61.96. My experience with Peter was positive so I give his business 5 stars.

Will never use felix again had a horrible experience here. STAYAWAY.

Highly recommended. Honest, quick and very professional. The way I found them was when I was working for AAA I found out where the guy who evaluated auto repair shops got his own car fixed and this was it.

I had a very unfortunate experience with Felix’s Auto Service. In short: Peter was just not a professional. He slow-​played me on the quote, didn’t fix the problem, never apologized for anything, and was not easy to work with after all of this had happened. I forked up the money and left — will get the issue fixed elsewhere.
More specifically, I found Peter’s quoting of service to be deceiving and his quality of work to be very poor and unprofessional. He quoted the work I asked for (oxygen intake sensor replacement) at a solid $ 210 in the door — lower quote than anyone else. However, this was upped to $ 450 upon Peter’s closer analysis of the situation. A fairer quote would have done research on the possible range and said it could be X or it could be Y, or that he would need to check it out before quoting. If you don’t know, say so! Additionally, and unfortunately, the $ 450 of work did not even fix my issue — Peter did not do due diligence before doing the work. It turns out, the oxygen intake sensors I thought I needed replacing were not the problem, and Peter did nary a test to even see if my hunch/​memory was correct. Never apologized. Poor form.

I’ve been coming here for a few years now, and haven’t gone anywhere else since. Pete and his staff are professional and efficient. They always call me if they find issues that need to be addressed on my car and would require my authorization to move forward with the work. Reasonably priced, and great turn around times. Highly recommended!

So I went to Felix auto to get my front breaks replaced, since the sensor light just came on. I knew I could change the breaks myself, but ran into the situation of not having the proper equipment, tools, jack etc. So I decided to take the chance with this place.
Granted my car was a Mercedes, I went ahead and requested a quote to get a ball park figure of what I was going to pay for. I didn’t just want to drop off my car and get a surprise bill, like a lot of people do. I like to know where my money is being spent and parts vs. labor, etc.
So we began talking about parts, Pete insisted my car was a sport, and was pretty much trying up sell the hell of changing 2 break pads and 2 rotors for $ 532.00 + tax and what ever fees may come along the way. Pete insisted in changing my car break pads that Mercedes only does a ONE TIME use for rotors, with 65,000 miles. And that i needed to replace the rotors when I change my pads. I definitely agree, when you change your break pads, it would be good practice to change your rotors, but come on now buddy I wasn’t born yesterday. Let me make the decision and dont fill me with that crap.
And the end of the day, I purchased the parts (front rotors, front beak pads) TOP of the line and had $ 300 + left over. I went ahead and watched a couple of youtube videos and with my buddy tools and his assistance, I was good to go.
Moral of the story: Do a little research before you go off and get repairs to your vehicle. Mechanics job is to up-​sell the hell out of the parts and charge a ridiculous amount for labor. Get comparables from different auto shops and have a general idea of what the repair will cost. A few minutes will save you a few hundred dollars.
Luckily, I did some automotive work in the past, and I knew he was a full of it. If they are truly there to help or retain a long term customer, they will work with you.
I stick by this motto. Honest people will get more business and repeat customers versus someone who is dishonest.

This place knows how to get money.
I brought my car here when it broke down on my commute down from the city. They told me it was the radiator and I would need to replace that. I was a little strapped for cash at the time, so I wanted to make sure this was necessary. «Yeah, absolutely. This will fix it right up!» They told me.
A large sum of money later, the car still has problems. They told me it was something else but they couldn’t have known that until they replaced the radiator. I got a bad vibe so I took it next door for a second opinion.
It wasn’t what they said the second or first time at all. Turns out it was a blown head gasket or lead gasket. Still an expensive fix but at least I wasn’t wasting money on problems that weren’t even real problems.
After my visit to the neighboring shop, everything has been running smoothly. Do your research. Don’t go to the first place that pops up on your search!

I started using Felix Auto through my Dad who took all our cars here since I think the late 1970’s early 1980’s. I got my license in 1986 and have taken every car I have owned every time I need service. I live in South San Jose and drive (some cases have my cars towed) all the way to Mt. View because I trust Felix Auto and Peter. When it comes to your car, you need to build a relationship with mechanics you can TRUST. This is the place. Friendly and fair.

I’ve been coming here for years and they are awesome. I’ve always felt comfortable with their work and quotes.

I’ve only had good experiences with Felix’s. I use them to align my truck and my Rx-​8. I would not trust anyone else with my cars. I drove in without an appointment, walked down to the coffee shop in downtown Mnt. View which is very close, by the time I got back my truck was ready to go. Great customer service and great work. These guys know what their doing!

I have experienced many auto mechanic services in the past 8 years as I have owned my 96 toyota tacoma. I must say that overall, Felix’s Auto Service has proved to offer the best service including reasonable prices, customer service, and great communication with the ability of answering all of my questions.
Also I do appreciate the fact that they do install/​order factory OE Parts for your vehicle which has benefited my truck to lasting longer on parts versus other shops that install aftermarket parts as I have had to replace more frequently. Pete is very friendly, honest, accommodating and straight forward as there mechanics have been providing top service as well. They do tend to stay busy as I recommend to give them a call to ask any questions and or schedule an appointment.
My truck has a new home as long as I decide to keep it and is need of maintenance as I would definitely recommend this place for everyone.

No matter where I go, I always come back to Felix Auto Service. I like how he coaches you after he fixes your car, and how he explains things when there’s a service that needs to be done.
I just feel very comfortable here, so I go here even though I live in Daly City now.

The commute from Outer Sunset (SF) to Mountain View on 280 at Germanic speeds has been taking its toll on my old deathtrap. Fortunately, this place is near my office.
Honest, friendly, and patient. Pete (does Felix exist?) explains why you may or may not need something done to your car in clear detail, so I feel like I get a free auto repair lesson whenever I take my poor old car in for a diagnostic or repair.
I usually leave the office after they close, but they’re accommodating to those who might not be able to get there exactly at closing, so I’m able to actually pick up my car and get home easily.
I’ve had an oil/​air/​gas filter change and my brakes replaced there, and everything has been great so far (I was able to write this review).

I hate writing bad reviews for mom and pop shops, but my experience left me a little peeved…
My fiancé highly highly highly recommended this place — saying how great the service was and how excellent the prices were. He was normally able to drop his car off and have repairs done by COB. Plus it’s so close to where we live… so when my brakes crapped out on me, I asked him to schedule an appointment for me.
Tuesday 8AM, dropped my car off and handed over the keys. Pete was very nice and friendly. I can see why people like him.
Tuesday 3PM — haven’t heard from them all day. Would I be able to pick up my car today? Is it broken? What’s the diagnosis doc? Nothing? Fiancé called and said he would get a call back in 30 minutes.
(30 minutes later no call)
4:15PM — Fiancé calls again. They will call back.
4:45PM — Call back. They are still evaluating it. Fiancé says I need my car by noon tomorrow (which I do since I have to drive to Newark to teach yoga right after work.) They will call at 10AM Wednesday for update. At this point, I’m thinking maybe my car is on the verge of exploding if the issue was taking so long to resolve.
Wednesday 11AM — Fiancé calls. They are busy. Will call back in 30 minutes.
11 something AM — They call back. Brakes are busted and need to change my pads and rotors. I’m a little surprised that my rotors are dead, but sure, why not. They say they will have my car ready by 2PM… (which means I will have to sit at home with my fiancé since driving to work and back will eat up too much.)
1:50PM — Car is ready. Come pick up. Thanks. (I think they were about to give us the stink eye at this point.)
Let me clarify by saying that I don’t mind if my car needs to be held longer. I just like SOME transparency. If they were so busy on Tuesday, I wouldn’t mind waiting another day before I dropped it off. I just had no idea what was going on and I dislike having to constantly call to find out what is going on. Just let me know!
The work itself seems good — they checked everything I asked and brakes are happy again… and when Pete did see us, he did give us a much better explanation.
I understand that business’ are busy and what not — but some sort of update would be nice. Especially since all of the reviews here talk about how they get excellent repairs in a timely manner… it sets the expectation too high for me.

2^nd time here was just like the first time.
Got me in the next day, repaired when expected, at the agreed-​upon price. I’ll keep recommending them to my coworkers (we’re literally across the street) until I hear of someone having an issue.
