Licensed and insured, we have in house design capabilities for your home renovations and additions and work closely with with a wide variety of subcontracting specialists. We will work on small and large projects. In our Custom Cabinet Shop we provide everything from minor furniture repair to complete custom cabinetry and design. We also design and build custom furniture. Our team is a diverse group of craftsman with a wide and varied skillset that not only are carpenters and cabinet and furniture makers but include a glassblower and a woodturner. We try to recycle as much as possible and turn all of our cabinet shop scaps into custom cutting boards.

Michael Meyer Fine Woodworking was founded in 1988 to offer general contracting and custom cabinetry expertise to discriminating homeowners in the Palo Alto and greater Bay Area, providing high quality craftsmanship in harmony with the environment.
The company, which has grown to more than 20 employees, works with a network of local subcontractors to provide a seamless project experience, from design through completion, all under one roof. Our team takes pride in exceptional standards of excellence, attention to detail and personalized service. Our commitment to the environment means choosing materials and processes designed to minimize ecological impact without sacrificing the beauty or quality of the end result.

Business Owner
Michael has been living and building on the Peninsula for the last 35 years. Some notable projects among the hundreds of remodels, custom cabinet and furniture pieces he has completed include the renovation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hanna Honeycomb house at Stanford and the construction of the Voussier Arch Bridge on display at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. His wife, Rachel, is the director of the Coyote Point Museum for Environmental Education where she is leading a revitalization effort. He has two sons, Kyle and Dylan, who work for the company part-time while attending local colleges, and a daughter, Devan, who attends high school.
