History

Established in 1930.

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) for Health Care, Research and Education is a not-​for-​profit health care organization that is a pioneer in the multispecialty group practice of medicine. Founded in 1930, PAMF is part of the Peninsula Coastal Region of Sutter Health, one of the nation’s leading not-​for-​profit networks of community-​based health care providers. Sutter Health’s Peninsula Coastal Region also includes Mills-​Peninsula Health Services. Quite frankly one of the worst patient care experiences I’ve ever had. Rude and inattentive receptionists, it is quite clear this office does not care about their patients. Receptionists and nurses seem more concerned with gossiping than taking care of the customers (from the waiting room, we can clearly hear «why doesn’t your boyfriend take you to Singapore».) Frankly, I’ve had better service at McDonalds. We arrived here at 11 and were told it would take 1 hour to see the doctor. It is 2:08 and we are still waiting. no one has apologized or expressed the slightest concern about this extensive, unacceptable and unprofessional delay. special shout out to Nancy rodrigez who is plainly unconcerned with patient care and rude. This is the most pathetic, unprofessional and apathetic patient service I’ve ever had the misfortune to come into contact with. Going to call up the insurance carrier and switch to a different hospital!

I was under terrible pain due to gallstones and I came to PAMF emergency. I had to wait for a while but then I was given a shot to ease the pain. One star less because of the wait time in emergency I had to face inspite of the pain.
Very good front desk staff. Always with a smile.
Doctors are amazing as were the nurses. So kind and caring!

I drove all the way over here bc im sick of talking to psrs in utah that make u an appointment 4 weeks later. I was able to schedule and appointment. but i told the lady it was private… she kept insisiting that inhabe to tell her. i said no i dont. i said its private and uq have to respect that. as soon as i asked for the manager all of a sudden it wasnt a problem anymore. i asked how
Come they have no more privacy signs up which is a violation of hippa and they said it was administrations decision to take them down bc they didnt want people standing in lines… so i guqess its better that the next patietnt behiNd u can hear and see what is going on. what the??? Stupid! The nurses agreed and even said they were on a comitee to fight it. but they lost. wait till they get sued. then they will put it back up. horrible horrible. health care at PAMF sutter is going down the tube!

I had to go to PAMF Mountain View today to get my ankle checked out (be careful in those wedge heels, folks). Checking in was incredibly easy and the gentleman behind the desk who helped me explained everything in detail. It was my first time there and because of some timing issues with my insurance, I was paying out of pocket. He made sure I was comfortable with all of the costs and it was much more reasonable than I expected.
Yes, there was a long wait to be seen, but there were people who were in pain or bleeding who needed to be seen immediately. I can wait in the waiting area and read my book until it’s my turn. No problem. And one day if I’m one of those folks who needs to be seen immediately, I hope those around me will understand as well.
The nurses and doctor (Dr. Putz) who took care of me were incredibly kind and empathetic. They asked lots of questions and addressed all of my concerns. They were extremely knowledgeable and I felt very comfortable in their care and with their counsel.
I will definitely go back to PAMF Mountain View for any urgent care needs I have in the future and until then, will be investing in some new flat sandals.

The worst service I have ever got. My daughter’s pediatric referred her to see the eye doctor due to the medical reason. I was told it would be covered under medical insurance. But now, they billed the insurance company with routine eye exam. Cigna said routine eye exam is not covered. PAMF ask me to pay more than $ 400. I called many times and spend hours and hours on the phone. This morning, their supervisor talked to me on the phone, I asked her if the bill indicate this is for lazy eyes. She told me yes. I even asked her if the bill shows «lazy eyes», she said yes. Then I called the insurance company, they told me they don’t see «Lazy eyes» at all, instead they use the different word to lead to refraction. The right term they should use is «Amblyopia». I called back PAMF, the lady is rude, just said no, they can’t change it. They do use the right words. She doesn’t want to try to help at all, just tell me it’s my responsibility to pay it.

Palo Alto Medical Foundation staff and physicians without exception have been competent, friendly and helpful. My primary care physician, Dr. Elizabeth Williams is absolutely awesome — knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. She is a rock star! In the 7 years that I have used PAMF, I have never had to wait more that 20 minutes for any appointment or for lab work. (I have not used Urgent Care.)

Urgent care tend to take HELLLAA long and this place is just ridiculously occupied. I have no words for it. One star for someone who said that it’ll only take 45 minutes for the results but ended up an hour and a half. I’d rather have someone say a time thats advanced but for someone to say a time thats overly due is just annoying.

I’ve been to PAMF Mountain View, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale campuses for several different medical visits and treatments and I’ve always experienced sweet and helpful front desk staff, knowledgeable and kind providers who see me on time, and beautiful, state of the art clinics with sophisticated equipment.
I recommend using the «My Health Online» to access your appointments, health records, reminders, clinic schedules, and other important information. Thank you for your services!

This review is for urgent care.
After three visits to this urgent care facility, I have decided that anything else — El Camino ER, doing nothing — is better. The last three times I came here, I was given incorrect assessments, the wrong medication, and flat out wrong follow up advice. The result of one of these visits is I now have to have surgery on my ankles. When I went to urgent care for bad sprains to both ankles, I was told nothing wrong, go home. No ice, no splint, no assessment, just a silly x-​ray, which was useless given the injuries. And apparently the ER doctor had no concept of bilateral sprains because she said, «but the swelling is the same in both of your ankles, is this normal? No, I normally don’t have grapefruit size swelling in my ankles. So yes, there was something wrong that had it been assessed and treated properly, I wouldn’t be facing surgery.
I would describe their method as CYA medicine — if a body part ain’t falling off, and they can send you away without getting sued, that’s what they’ll do.

Annual, preventative exam that was supposed to be free turned to $ 315.00 bill after 5 min discussion about a mole on my skin. No warning from the doctor that my preventative visit suddenly turned to a normal office visit.

If you want individualized healthcare then this is NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. I’ve had terrible experiences trying to book appointments here. The people who schedule appointments over the phone are just awful. They act like you’re asking them to really go out of their way to help you out at all. They’re rude and no help at all. The nurses are wonderful and I’ve had good experiences with the doctors, but it’s extremely hard to get appointments in a timely fashion and they’re unwillingly to be flexible with your needs. The two stars are only for the quality of the doctors and nurses.

This review is for PAMF (Mt View Location), Urgent Care Dept, Dr. Katherine Putz, MD
.
Dr. Putz treated my family member on Dec 21, 2015 Monday (2 occasions, 9am & 1pm) and another follow-​up appt on Tuesday 3pm. She also called herself on a followed up phone call on Wednesday 330pm to inform us the testing results.

Throughout those 3 days, she carefully examined, provided us with detailed explanation and offered us couple treatment options. Due to patient’s age concern, the reasonable treatment option was aggressive enough so that we don’t loose ‘TIME’.
Overall, we are very happy to have Dr. Katherine Putz, MD treated us

You will never be treated better by any doctor anywhere! Dr. Jean Wong is the BEST! I tend to self diagnose and she sets me straight every time!
My husband loves Dr. Daniel Shin he treated a wound that nobody (4) doctors at VMC never detected! It wasn’t until Dr. Wong (internal medicine) detected it and referred him to Dr. Shin (infectious disease dept.)that he was healed! Best doctors ever!

In Short: Yes, come here for one appointment and you’ll be hooked with the convenience of all specialties under one roof, including a pharmacy, imaging area, and various specialty doctors. AND free parking.
All types of primary care and specialists, all in one building and with other convenient locations. I really love this location and am so happy with how classy and clean the interior public areas are. The check-​in nurses are generally friendly and will help you right away, and the waiting areas are clean and not filled with loud TV soap opera dramas blaring.
When I moved to the area, I had no idea where to find good doctors in various specialities (primary care, orthopedic, women’s services, etc.) but have found many of them as part of this group. It’s easier to have them all at one place so that they can easily see test results in your online medical records.
The doctors know what they are doing, and they’ll do everything they can to give you the best treatment possible. One time I went to Urgent Care and waited 2 hours because it was busy, at which time a doctor came and moved me to corresponding department within the building to help with the overflow (and to get me out faster). It was great not having to wait another hour for treatment. They actually CARE.
3 Tips:
1) Once you have one doctor here, it’s easy to just move them all here so they can easily access records.
2) Parking is FREE
3) Imaging, ultrasound, and pharmacy are all available here.

Urgent care or wait 3 hours care? If you don’t feel like you’re suffering too bad, you’d have to wait a pretty long time.
It’s just a convenient way to get medicine while because of the 24⁄7 Walgreens across the street.
The doctors and assistances are really nice though, they provide great information. The wait is just terrible.

A medical institution that showcase Chihuly’s glass sculptures deserves 5 stars only for that. I was so happily surprised when I went for the first time and thought I might be in the wrong place and that actually I was at a luxurious hotel instead! I liked a lot the service provided by the pool of volunteers. These folks, mostly retired people do an awesome job of both public relations, helpers and always smiling and polite. Also the staff working there was efficient and I felt very welcomed and everything was very smooth. So far I am very happy using them as health providers.

I guess I can’t really say one way or the other about PAMF. This is where I go, these are my doctors, and this is what I feel like I am stuck with. It’s not so bad and IMO the doctors here care more about you than Kaiser. Having experiences with various folks whom I know who have Kaiser and gone to appointments at Kaiser with them, I can’t say I subscribe to the whole «I don’t really care about you much because I get paid either way, so here’s a treatment, I think» part.
I like that generally speaking, many PAMF doctors do care. They take your view into consideration even though they don’t have to because you clearly don’t have an MD. They give reasonable advice and work with you on things you’d like to see or not see happen.
On the flip side — costs an arm and a leg. Thanks PAMF, health insurance and Obama!
