Established in 2002.

Founded by Ted Ray, L. Ac, Peninsula Acupuncture has grown organically over the years serving the communities surrounding Mountain View including Los Altos, Sunnvyale, & Cupertino.

Ted’s background as long-​distance runner first led him to acupuncture. Fascinated by it’ effective and lasting results, Ted dedicated himself to learning more about Chinese Medicine and it’s many facets. Now Ted uses a combination of nutrition, herbal medicine and acupuncture to get his patients better as quickly as possible, while laying the foundation for good health.

Ted received his Masters in TCM from San Francisco’s American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is Board-​certified in Acupuncture Orthopedics (a designation held by fewer than 1% of acupuncturists in the U.S.). He has an undergraduate degree from Cal Poly, SLO (’94).

He is married with two children and has a passion for health, fitness, and in supporting his patients to feel great and get the most out of life.

I swear by Ted’s acupuncture. I was 5 days past my pregancy due date and was anxious to deliever. I saw Ted at 4pm and by midnight, I had contractions. I didnt need an epidural and pushed for 15 minutes. By 3am, my baby was born. Ted is truly amazing!

Dr. Ted is awesome! He is super friendly, down to earth, and makes the whole experience stress-​free.
I really like the fact that he can explain the science behind acupuncture and pulse reading. He is able to list out imbalances that he senses and and clearly explain to you health issues that you are experiencing. He is very knowledgeable in his craft and makes the needles part painless.
The customized herbal tincture that he provides really does help to improve your health. Even though it’s nasty tasting in the beginning, but you eventually get acclimated to it. Also, it’s pretty handy when you’re on the go like me and don’t have the time or energy to cook up a batch of raw herbs.
His treatment rooms are also quite calming and relaxing. It’s always a nice break in the day when I go see him because it’s a chance for me to relax and take a small nap.

I saw Ted for some pain I was having in my lower back. From the moment I walked in I felt at ease. His warmth, humor and attentiveness all helped me feel comfortable and secure in his care. He also offered an herbal balm that was WONderful and a great alternative to «Icy/​Hot».
I felt listened to and that he really took the time to ponder, trouble shoot and address my specific symptoms.
A great experience and one that I would highly recommend.
The hot tea offered during the visit was a lovely touch as well.

As a chiropractic physician I’m very picky when it comes to choosing a practitioner. Ted is is not only an amazing acupuncturist, but he also seamlessly incorporates functional medicine, such as blood chemistry and hormone panels into his practice. Furthermore, I’m not one for needles of any kind, but Ted makes the experience a breeze and he’s so gentle and quick, you won’t even feel a thing!
If you’re ready to take your health to the next level and are looking for an amazing acupuncturist that’s gentle and precise — Ted Ray Lac is your man!

Silicon Valley
I’ve been seeing Ted since this January (2008), he is my first acupuncturist. My main reason for seeing him were for pains from my rear-​end car accident last year, I was referred to him through a friend, and the general practice of acupuncture was recommended by my physical therapists and family doctor. For my first appointment, Ted walked me through what was going on to ease my worries — it was reassuring.
He uses only single-​use acupuncture needles; they come out of individually wrapped packaging and when they are pulled out — they go into an appropriate biohazard sharps disposal container.
Besides acupuncture, I’ve received cupping and electrical stimulation (through the needles). My body has received all three techniques very well. I have been in less pain and definitely not as stiff as I was prior to seeing Ted.
He also does herbal treatments; I have not needed these but I’ve seen other patients get some. I would totally recommend his services to anyone who needs or wants to try acupuncture.
