Bay Court at Harbour Pointe

We recently moved in and it was a mistake.
Our family recently moved back to take a job in Seattle. Because we were relocating from CA to WA and had a short time to find a place, so we chose the Bay Court because we lived here in ²⁰⁰⁹⁄₂₀₁₀ and enjoyed it. We did not have children at that time. Price of rent was $ 1265.
Issues we have had in the week we have been here. The online signing of the lease is not efficient and we had many issues with it.
There is a lack of communication between office staff. I was not sent the link to sign the paperwork on time before we cancelled our internet. The I told Nicole we would sign it once we arrived since we did not have internet and Joel (I believe) did not understand what I was saying.
I am a polite person and prefer to wait until I am called in the office. There is a blonde woman (I believe) who overlooks us in the office and never helped. I usually had to wait until one of the men were available. I usually dealt with Nicole over the the phone, so I am not sure if she is the one who keeps overlooking us when we go into the office.
On to the apartment. It is not worth $ 1938 a month plus what they charge for trash, sewer, and water. It was poorly updated. The apartment was full of black dog hair that maintenance or their painting crew just painted over. You have fresh paint with dog hair underneath. I have all sorts of whole at the base of the walls in every room, which allows all sorts of bugs and insects to enter the apartment. I am waiting on their exterminator. I was told we have bugs, ants, and other insects because it is a wooded area. Oh, when the weather is hot, prepare to have flying bugs surround your entrance door.
The apartment never warms, even with running the heat all day, which quickly can add up. By the time we wake in the morning, it is just as cold inside as it is outside. I also have vents that blow cold air into the kitchen and bathrooms, which could be why the place never heats. I have told the office and nothing has been done. The base board heater warmers the wall it is on, but that it it.
The floors are laminate, but has the look of hardwood. They are scratched and seem to bubbles or have dents.
There is black stuff around the windows and I am not sure if it was mold or not. I have listed that along with other discrepancies and no one has gotten back to us.
There is not enough parking. Most places will offer 1 parking spot free, but they charge. In 2010 it was $ 35, but I am not sure how much it is now. Parking is really tight on the weekend as most people are home.
Poop on the grass and prepare to hear your neighbors dog yapping. Our neighbors upstairs get up at 4 and we can hear them running, walking, and washing clothes. We can also hear them in the bathroom. You want a ground floor for convenience, but have to deal with neighbors. (I know it a art of apartment living)
This is all stuff we did not experience when we lived here previously and our neighbors then had children we never really heard. Maybe walls have thinned.
I do not think we will be here the full term of our lease. Now that we are in area, we can physically look at places.

Rent is rising rapidly everywhere and Bay Court did not negotiate our lease. I was told by the office that the owners want more money out of the tenants and they are not joking. So far we’ve lived here 2 years and each year the have raised the rent 100.00. They reassure that your a valued tenant but at the same time its kind of a kick in the teeth. I have other friends that live here that have had their rent offers evaluated and had no problem getting it lowered. The office tells me that occupancy is 97% and that’s the reason for the increases.
The office people are great and so are the maintenance people. But the cost of rent is out of control and from what I hear its not going to get better anytime soon,

We, a family of three, lived at Bay Court for three years when our daughter went to Kamiak HS. We liked Bay Court for its location. Kamiak is across the street. The apartment complex is in a nice and flat area of Mukilteo. If you like walking, this is IT. The library and the YMCA are within walking distance. We greatly appreciated both the maintenance team and the ground team, who worked hard to keep the place well maintained and clean. The two teams were quite stable. I only saw one new face in our three years there. Unlike the maintenance and ground teams, the office staff kept changing. I believe nobody in the current office has been there longer than three years. As a result, the chances to bump into someone in the office who cannot give you a straight answer are quite high. Over the years, we received obnoxious phone calls, notices posted on the door, and emails delivering unnecessary warnings all because someone in the office was not proficient or careful enough. We also didn’t like the layout, which made it very difficult to arrange furniture. What we disliked the most was the charge. Besides the rent, water, and electricity, we paid, each month, $ 2.45 administrative service fee; $ 16.00 trash rebill; $ 35 sewer base fee; $ 6.72 stormwater fee; $ 70.00 parking (2 car port spaces, optional). And, when we moved out, we were charged $ 70 for carpet cleaning, although we cleaned the place thoroughly according to the move-​out instruction provided by the office and our carpet was stainless.

P. S. Not everyone in the office was clueless and obnoxious. In fact, we were very lucky to work with Stephanie when we moved in and Nicole when we moved out. Both ladies were very helpful.

I lived here about 9 – 10 months. When we first moved in, it was a pretty good price for a 2 bedroom with everything updated. Upon moving in, we learned some of the electrical outlets are turned on/​off with the light switch. The fan in the bathroom did not do anything. We called for a maintenance person. The guy said he was Italian and couldn’t really explain himself well… ummm ok. He puts a piece of paper up to the vent and shows it slowly pulling in indicating the vent is working. It works, but reeeeally slow and bad. He said there was nothing he could do.
Second time I called for our garbage disposal. Response was immediate and fixed within minutes by a female maintenance person.
Third time, I come home from work and walk down the hallway to my feet squishing in the carpet. The toilet completely flooded ½ our apartment. It came from the back bowl, but we had to get emergency maintenance out. He cut up all of our carpet in my room, my roommates room, my walk-​in closet, the hallway, and the closet in the hallway. The had to put huge fans underneath the carpet for like a week to dry the floor and the carpet. Making it practically impossible to do anything or sleep. After all was said and done, they actually refunded part of our water bill we had that month because it was twice as much as we ever used. But then laid back down the ripped carpet.
We moved out Feb 2014, over a year ago. I get a call mid August (6 months after move out) saying we have a past due balance. I’m like wtf? I moved into the same address I lived at before movi g therr, and put my address down when signing the move-​out papers. I did NOT receive ANY communication regarding an additional cleaning balance. I ask if they can look into it and call me back, because of the carpet and the flood. They said it was dirty, which it was (hair bleaching party gone wrong) and balance was $ 700+ after our $ 200 deposit. Two weeks go by, no response. I call THEM and they say so-​and-​so will get back to you. Nope. I call again, finally reach the person. They said they were reaching out to maintenance to figure out what happened. I gave them exact days for the flood because I had pics of the soggy carpet on my phone. No call back.
I forgot and called a few months later. She said because it came from the back of the bowl, the charges for the carpet were still valid. How is that valid when your maintenance CUT the carpet and it would have had to been replaced anyways? Finally ended up just paying it. Drop off the check late at night when I’m off work, and the office is being remodeled. I put it in a drop box anyways. Called NINE times different days, and no one answered the phone. Finally someone did and said they saw the check (like 2 weeks later) and were taking it to the bank the following day.
Crappy parking, couldn’t even buy a reserved spot, they’re super close together and my car was scratched. A Mukilteo Police Officer of 20 years said the complex was infamous for car break ins. Low and behold, my roommate’s car gets broken into. Sometimes there was no parking to the point where I had to park on a complete opposite end of the property! Great when I had groceries.
People swim past posted times and are obnoxious, yet when I wanted to relax quietly in the hot tub with a book, I was kicked out 5 minutes before pool closing.
They like to mow the lawn at the crack of dawn. And tons of spiders in the storage on the patio. Seriously bad. Do not store anything in there.
So glad I’m done with them.

As a 3+ year resident here, I finally decided I’ve had enough and I am moving. Dog poop everywhere, people speed through the parking lot and there is garbage on the «trails» (not to mention a bicycle in the pond/​wetland area for months now).
After having my rent raised, I decided to move to a place where, for the same amount of rent, I get twice the space and an attached garage.
In three words: Dog Poop Everywhere

After looking at dozen of apartment complexes, we decided to settle here. The reasons are:
— reasonable price
— very nice, clean, and new apartment
— NO PET RENT! Yea, you heard that right!
— nice surrounding with a little bit of forest touch
— easy access to freeway with lots of restaurants + markets around! (Albertsons, QFC,.)
— nice neighborhood
— the people at the office is very nice and they go out of their way to help us find the best apt in their complex that would fit out need and budget.
— Free hot chocolate everyday at the office… hell yea!
One thing we learned when we come in to get a quote is it varies everyday! and the 2 bed, 1 bath was only $ 30 more expensive than then 1 bed 1 bath. The 2 bed 2 bath was $ 150 more. So we chose 2 bed, 1 bath to let our guest stay over sometimes and doesn’t have to pay way too much more. We also learned that your move in date determine your quote so ask the people at the office about all the options and they will help you find the best price!

I don’t know who paid for the reviews saying the staff was nice/helpful…they’ve obviously never dealt with Brenna. She was the first person I dealt with moving in over two years ago and she is still here today. Keep in mind this person actually had the nerve to tell me to move my U-​haul truck (which was only taking up a single spot out of the way) about 4 hours after I arrived! Really?!? Would you like me to «miracle» my stuff into the unit? Idiot. Then she actually said, «Can’t you just suck it up and get it done tonight?» Well yes, yes I can. But that’s not the point is it? I was working alone.
She also has no time to deal with requests outside the norm. She will not work with you on any matter. Also, make sure when you renew your lease, you completely go over it again. THEY WILL REMOVE ITEMS YOU SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED IN YOUR FORMER LEASE WITHOUT NOTIFYING YOU. They’re shady.
All that aside, Bay Court seems reasonably safe. During our time here, there have been a few mailbox break-​ins and a few vehicles vandalized, but nothing severe I’m aware of. Walls are thin and you can hear people snoring upstairs, but that’s apartment living, I guess. Maintainence is fantastic. They work hard and are knowledgeable. Quick repairs in our experience.
If you wish to install a pet gate or anything that requires straight angles and plumb walls, forget it. At least in our unit. You can tell the contractors went through it without regard to overall quality, just a fake façade of upgraded finishes. Once, we even had a light fixture in the hallway FILL UP WITH WATER! We didn’t actually notice this until we had turned the light on. Picture the fixture filled with water and the lightbulb underwater and still lit up. How does this happen? Oh, that’s right, a contractor left the water running upstairs while «testing the plumbing.» Ugh. Maybe we can get into the contractors hired to tear apart the sidewalk literally inches from my vehicle at 6am on a Saturday with a jackhammer. Or maybe the fact that those contractors decided to drape plastic over my car and hold it down with heavy tools to «protect it» from flying chunks of concrete… yeah helpful guys, thanks for the body damage. What did Baycourt do about it? Here’s a voucher for a car wash. Sorry.
I could go on, but I think you get the point. I pay the high rent here for a service as well as a unit. I could move to Everett and get a far nicer place and just as unfriendly staff. Pass on this place.

This is your typical apartment complex. People can’t park, your neighbors are most likely jerks, at least mine are, and people don’t know what it means to pick up after their dogs. But people suck and this review isn’t about them.
The apartments are expensive, but nice. I assume the price is due to the prime location. I’ve only had to call maintenance twice. The first time they showed up right on time, the second time they didn’t show up at their appointment time, nor did we hear from them for almost a week. Finally had to call back and request again that our garbage disposal get fixed. On the positive side the maintenance man was very nice and worked quickly.
The office staff seems to change often, but are generally nice and helpful. Melissa is an absolute doll and takes her job very seriously. I know if I go to her with a problem or a concern, it will get addressed ASAP.
Overall it’s a pretty nice place except for the inconsiderate jerks that tend to live here. But hey, that’s apartment life, right?
