Specialties
The Rosehill Community Center is a beautiful 29,000 sq/ft building with sweeping views of Possession Sound, the Mukilteo Ferry, and Lighthouse Park. The Community Center is available for rentals and is home to the Mukilteo Recreation Department.
The Mukilteo Recreation Department offers a variety of programs to the community including dance, fitness, art, music, and enrichment for all ages. Programs offered take place in its classrooms, dance room, art room and large multi-purpose room.
History
Established in 1947.
In its early years, Mukilteo was a fishing village, trading post, and a port-of-entry. Surrounding wooded hills filled with Douglas fir, cedar and hemlock supported a lumber mill and the town also had a cannery, a brewery, and a gunpowder plant. Traces of the powder mill remain in the name of Powder Mill Gulch, a ravine that is located about one mile (1.6 km) into the city limits of Everett. Japanese Gulch provides rail access from the Mukilteo waterfront to the Boeing’s Boeing Everett Factory at Paine Field.
In 1900, the population was only 350. The next year, the federal Lighthouse Board decided to put a light and fog signal at the point in Mukilteo. The lighthouse, which still stands today, was completed in 1906.
Even at incorporation in 1947, almost a century after the Point Elliott Treaty, Mukilteo’s population stood at only 775. But by 1947, there was ferry service to Whidbey Island, a fuel storage facility for the Air Force on the waterfront, and a major rail line for the Grea

Manager
Jennifer Gregerson is serving her first term as Mayor after having been a member of the City Council since 2004.
Gregerson, a graduate of Kamiak High School, has a Bachelor’s Degree in French from New York University. She has established an expertise in community planning, earning her Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Washington.
Gregerson is a national leader on issues of municipal information technology and communications issues, through her service as a steering committee member for the National League of Cities. She believes in the principles of open government and frequent communication with citizens.
Mayor Gregerson learned the values of hard work and responsibility growing up in a family-owned business. Watching her parents fight to preserve trees and wetlands in Harbour Pointe, she says taught her the importance of getting involved, speaking out and defending your community.
