Let’s just say this place is amazing! I went on my birthday and the owner was SO nice! He gave us some free champagne and a free shot for my birthday. Really great place to try some scotch and hang out and chat with friends. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone. HAPPY NEW YEARS!

The food (wedge salad, steak pie, a couple drinks) was good but the one star is the result of the service. It was friendly enough when they got to us… we have waited for everything. We didn’t get to order our food till we had been there almost an hour — and that was after I flagged someone down and begged. We’ve been waiting for the check for 39 minutes. Someone brought our food and literally no one has checked on us since. It is absolutely abysmal. We’ve been forgotten and are wondering if we should just skip the check. I’m 51, go out often, and have never had worse service in my entire life.

We found this place on Unilocal after an event nearby. It’s tucked in the neighborhood, but worth looking for it. The food is amazing, so is the scotch selection. The owner personally greets every patron making the environment really friendly. We visited on a Friday with live music, however we could still have a reasonable conversation.

Very disappointed. Early Friday night. Ambience not bad. Middle age crowd. Small place that sits less than 20. Could be so much better. Service slow, not enough people working. Finished my lemonade in a matter of minutes– got the next one 30 min later. Food OK but tasteless. Put some garlic, vegetables… a cooking base! Something! Price was great. Place has a lot of potential.

We checked this place out due to the 4-​star Unilocal rating but was disappointed. When we first arrived, we were the only patron inside the restaurant; there were several seated outside. We ordered the bacon-​wrapped dates which were delicious. I then ordered the Scottish Meat Pie with sweet potato fries and my daughter got the Chicken Stilton Salad. Be warned that the meat pie was about 3 inches in diameter so don’t expect something filling. The salad was somewhat plain with chicken, spinach, candied walnuts, onions, and cranberries. They forgot the stilton cheese so we had to flag down our waitress to let her know. The chicken was seasoned but it was still bland (no salt and pepper on the table). Our server never checked on us until we were done. Overall, it’s an ok neighborhood restaurant but the average food, limited menu items, and lackluster service will not bring us back.

Confused Menu. Lots of different items not from Scotland. Many of the items seemed to be store bought and reimagined. Food tasted good. Great patio dining. I think we would try again and see how it went.

I’ve been a few times with friends, great ambiance and I enjoy sitting on the patio. I wish they had a moscato, but the Reislings they offer are alright. It’s nice to have a local spot where we can walk or bike to, when we get a sitter. We love that they offer live music on specific nights, as well. Not kid-​friendly. Small setting, a few tables.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for almost a year now. My wife and I finally had the opportunity to dine here on Friday.
Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment.
The décor is small, quaint and clean. There is one large TV mounted on the wall. Outdoor seating is also available.
Happy Hour is available from 3pm-​7pm. There were several appetizers listed on the happy hour menu to choose from. Draft brews were $ 1 off during happy hour. House wine pours were $ 6 during happy hour.
My wife ordered her first Manny’s for $ 4 (hh) and her second Manny’s for $ 5. I ordered my first glass of house red wine for $ 6 and my second glass for $ 7.
For our meals we chose:
Scottish Meat Pie for $ 10: Cameron’s own blend of ground beef & seasonings. Served with HP Sauce (Brown Sauce). The sauce tasted like a blend of A-​1 and Worcestershire. For my side I chose the Heinz beans. I enjoyed my meal but loved my wife’s meal choice.
My wife chose the:
Gran’s Steak Pie for $ 12: Tender chunks of steak sautéed with red onions simmered in its own juices until tender, topped with a flaky Puff Pastry. We added mushrooms for an additional $ 1. She chose the green salad as her side. The steak (roast) was so tender and flavorful. The sauce so rich and comforting. The puff pastry so light and flaky. The side salad was a blend on nice greens, sliced red onions and fresh diced tomato.
The staff were welcoming and it was fun listening to the Scottish accent of other patrons.
I am so glad we were finally able to dine here. We look forward to many future gatherings here.

We’ve known about this neighborhood locale for quite a while but never tried it as I thought it was just a watering hole as was the prior establishment in this location, Wine 101. Their prime function was wines with a few snacks thrown in. Make no mistake, the Scotsman has a large selection of liquor and wine. Since we don’t imbibe, I will leave that review to someone else. We did have a wedge salad, half caesar, garlic prawns and pork shanks. All were exceptional and very reasonably priced. Because there was an issue with the wedge, not the fault of the Scotsman, rather the purveyor of the wedges, they comped the entire meal! We insisted on paying for the rest of the meal but would not let us. This is unusual in any circumstance. I’m not suggesting anyone go in, complain and try to get a free meal however.
The owner was on site and cleaning glasses behind the bar. How many places have I been in where the owner or general manager isn’t pitching in and helping? Too many to mention. I should also comment that he was a really nice and very personable.

If you like scotch then get your *** in here. Even if you don’t, they have a full bar and delicious food. The owners are awesome and very accommodating. Indoor or outdoor seating. If I lived closer, I’d be here every other night.

An adorable tiny place with great atmosphere. The wine and food was delicious too. I had the artichoke dip, Gran’s Steak Pie, and the chocolate ganache. The Gran’s Steak Pie It is not really a pie, but a warm broth soup and the steak is so tender I could cut it with my spoon. Great portions on the meals too.

Let me just start by saying, we got there at 6:00pm, got our order taken around 6:15 for appetizers and drinks (the apps and drinks came out at a reasonable time, then our food order was taken around 6:30. Our food however is a very different story. Our food didn’t come out until around 8:00pm. The waitress didn’t seem that apologetic about the wait either, which was surprising. The service was fairly minimal during this time. They did comp us the two beers we ordered in the end, but that was only maybe 10% of our bill. This seemed quite ridiculous for how long we waited. Very disappointed on the service. They seemed very understaffed. 1 waiter, and two cooks for about 20 people in the restaurant.
The food was okay, nothing bad, but nothing that blew me away and the menu was pretty random in my opinion.

The owner, George, served us and sat with us for part of our meal. He was delightful!
The food was good, too, and reasonably priced. We had the house red wine, also good.
We did it — we tried the haggus! George assured us that if we ever were to try it, the Scotsman Bistro makes the best. It was very good.
The Bacon Wrapped Dates and Jumbo Prawns were also very good. Pretty eclectic mix of choices, but so tasty.
We had a super time, went home full, enjoyed the wine, and are excited to go back the next time we’re in the area. That’s a 5-​star date night dinner in my book.
Next time, we’ll go on a Friday night to have George’s Ginger Chicken Curry (Fridays Only).

I absolutely love this place! I live about two blocks from this little gem, so I regularly frequent the Scotsman. George and Marvella, the owners are super friendly and are always very attentive. The food is really good, and there’s something for everybody on the menu. From traditional Scottish pub food, to Mexican, to Italian food it’s all really good! I highly recommend you check out the Scotsman!

I love this place. But be warned, if you’re looking for an «Applebees» experience please don’t waste your time. You won’t find teenage’ hair-​twirling waitresses popping bubblegum and wearing pieces of flair. What you’ll get at the Scotsman is a genuine, neighborhood pub experience with a lively owner and a wait staff that makes you feel like you’re visiting a friend for dinner. George is happy to greet you and then sit down and chat about anything. If you want to learn about Scotch whiskey, then this is the right place. George gives you the feeling that he’s a close uncle.
The food is great. I love the steak pie. All the food is made in-​house. You won’t find these menu items in the freezer section of the QFC down the road. The mini-​sliders are delicious and the flatbreads are fantastic. But as good as the food is, it’s merely an accessory to the headline act.
There is enough Scotch here to make you dizzy just looking at it. There’s low-​end «gettin’ drunk» Scotch all the way up to the high-​end stuff that you’ll not find in your local liquor store. And George is there to help you navigate the selections whether you’re an expert or a novice. You get a «Scotch sommelier» in George, and he’s happy to do it because he loves where he is and what he does.

Came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon after shopping with my mom to simply to check out the menu for lunch.
There is an interesting array of dishes you’d find at most bistros (like sliders and flat breads), scottish influenced dishes (steak pie), and interesting fusions of both (like the black and white flatbread featuring black and white pudding).
I was feeling less adventurous that day and settled on the bbq chicken flatbread, and my mom ordered the vegan flatbread. Both were quite delicious and served rather quickly.
The place is small, I can’t imagine how packed it can get on a night with live music (where do they even play? I wondered) but it’s quaint and cozy and there is the laid-​back charm of a family business quite present.
They also have both a wine and a scotch club! With my love of scotch and the added bonus of being within walking distance of my place, there is more than enough reason to come by again.
If you ever find yourself lost among the maze of developments and condominiums and end up stumbling along this little patch of commercial businesses, stop in at The Scotsman and try it for yourself!

They’re better than they really need to be, and you should get in here before they get completely discovered and start having space problems they need to solve. This is a cool spot with a clear idea of what they want to do, and they’re doing it really, really well.
You’re just trundling down residential byways forever to get here, it’s one freeway after another on down to the long boulevard that runs by the golf course. They’re across the boulevard from the golf course, in the strip mall between the miles of apartment complexes. You start to feel conditioned to things being generic, driving by all that stuff that looks like it all got built one afternoon when the next neighborhood was at the movies. But there’s parking, and there’s even a little sidewalk on the other side where you can sit and watch the Acuras cavorting on the boulevard.
They seem to be courting the 19^th hole contingent to some extent, offering a variety of snacks that seem to bleed into full meals if you turn the page or just keep ordering. But more than that they offer whisky and wine. The beer list is pretty meaningless, aimed squarely at people who have just learned this evening that they don’t need to drink fizzy yellow water when they order a beer. No Budweiser products, but nothing special (they do have a couple of European brews in bottles, but they’re supermarket-​variety beers).
The whisky and wine, though, holy crap. Not messing around at all. Especially the whisky. They have at least 50 different ones, and they offer about 30 of them in 3-​glass flights for about $ 15. You can try stuff you’ve never even heard of, a little under an ounce at a time. They bring out a card with prepared tasting notes, and they choose nice stuff. There are a bunch of other whiskys available by the glass as well, many of them being fairly unusual – but virtually all of them are quite approachable. There appear to be about 40 – 50 wines as well, largely organized by flavor profile, which is a really nice touch. Their whole approach makes it clear that they want to get to know your tastes when you order. That’s even if you haven’t started sorting out your tastes yet.
The space is small. There are a dozen highboys and I think a couple stools at the bar. It won’t be long before they need a bigger space, even if it means abandoning the golfer demographic that’s across the street. I hope they move closer to my house. The staff are super nice, and the owner appears to do all jobs – waiting, bussing, bartending, and cooking, in concert with his staff. He’s passionate about his Scottish heritage, still has a bit of a burr to his accent, and brags in the menu about how some dishes are family recipes.
We split the Scotsman Sampler, which offers black and white sausages, mustard, and a scotch egg. The scotch egg was fantastic, with tons of flavor and a perfect light breading. It did not seem like bar food aimed at drunks daring each other to eat one, which is the perception I’ve had for a while of scotch eggs. This was a tasty hard-​boiled snack. The sausages were amazing; not sure where they got them but they had great texture and flavor.
We each got a steak pie for dinner and that is a spectacular dish. They say it’s topped with a puff pastry, with struck me as an awkward phrasing. But it comes out with a dish of braised steak on a plate… and a light, airy puff pastry balanced on top. You destroy the pastry with your knife and fork, where upon it settles into the pie and soaks up the remaining braising liquid. It’s still a pie, but they add the crust right before it goes out to the table, so it doesn’t get all soggy. Genius. GENIUS. Tastes wonderful, too.
They have haggis, they have sliders, they have flatbreads, they have meat and cheese plates that must be explored. They have the wonders of the whisky world on display. They also have live music on Saturday nights, which packed the place a bit, but pleasantly so. You should come in here and eat and drink. They actually have some personality and a sense of doing something not quite like what others are doing, which is all too rare these days.
