Pita Pit

I ordered two gyro salads with Feta and Tzatziki, and got two gyro salads… Without Feta or Tzatziki. Not only half the calories were missing, but half the flavor. Wasn’t that big of deal at first (assuming they’d fix it). I promptly called to let them know. On the phone they said they’d fix it and was going send out replacements… As I write this it’s been 2 hours since I placed my order. They never did. Don’t waste your time ordering delivery from this place, you never know what you’ll get or when you’ll get it.

Ingredients are fresh and customer is service is good, but prices are definitely on the high end for what you get.

This little sandwich-​like joint is a solid 4 to 4.5.
An extended stay at IU Ball Memorial had us in town daily for nearly 3 weeks and my nephew #1 suggested we try this place in the village and nearby.

We ate here 3 times in 5 days and it was awesome each time.
The much better half got the Chicken Souvlaki schmered w/​Tzatziki and heated mushrooms and onions. Me, I opted for the Falafel jammed up with all the veggies less pepperocinis, mayo and tons of hot sauce (think Buffalo Falafel — yes, it should be a thing). Falafel is a little different here — they chop up the falafel into mince and heat through on the flattop.
She said mine weighed 5 lbs — actually closer to 2. Hers was delicious and she thought so as well — you bet I tasted hers!
Best advice when you think of this place: you know how the Subway guys give you the stinkeye when you ask you more than the skimpy 5 pieces of spinach; yeah, you don’t get that here. They’ll load you up with everything! And when you want sandwich toppings not loaded down with bread.

THE BOMB. Loved this place. Usually I’m a jimmy johns fan on Friday nights, but I decided to try this healthier option and it’s now my favorite. I got the Dagwood pita… 3 different meats grilled up and stuffed into a pita. I then had them add lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, carrots, & provolone cheese… The (very sweet) employee wrapped it up and I downed that thing! I cannot emphasize how yummy it was. Perfect dinner option. If you’re a dessert person, their cookies are also delightful. Can’t wait to go again! This first timer was impressed.

A little expensive. But a build-​your-​own place like Subway. Its also messier but I still liked it. And they have one of those fancy soda machines!

Decent food really. Don’t expect some authentic Mediterranean dish from this place but the food is good. The prices are comparable and the menu has plenty of options. Don’t even try to order delivery, the staff can’t seem to handle taking an order over the phone. Tried delivery once and it was a giant cluster.

I tried the Pita Pit for the first time last month. They had a lot more variety than I thought they would.
It was neat to see how they wrapped up the pita like a burrito and it was really, really yummy.
I have had Mediterranean food before and I didn’t see Pita Pit as a Mediterranean food place, it’s like a Subway, but with Pitas. They aren’t trying to be fancy or splendorous, they are just making yummy pitas that you can make as healthy or unhealthy as you want.
They are a good option near campus and I will definitely be going back soon!

When anyone says let’s get lunch somewhere I always mention Pita Pit.
It’s one of my favorite places to eat because it’s healthy, it tastes amazing, it’s fresh and it’s inexpensive! What more could you ask for?! I hadn’t tried the Pita Pit until my junior year of college and after I did I was completely hooked.
I loved that it’s open all the time so at 3am when you are up studying for exams and you get hungry you can order Pita Pit and they will deliver it to you. The price is around $ 6 and the pitas are so filling but since it’s healthy you don’t feel bad afterwards.
I read previous reviews from people that commented about how friendly the staff is and I have to agree! The employees are always so nice and happy even when you walk in at 2 in the morning! :) My advice for the BSU freshman– ordering Pita Pit instead of Jimmy Johns will help you not succumb to the freshman 15!

Awesome! The Pita Pit, tucked innocently between Scotty’s and a laundromat/​tanning salon offers a great option on the BSU campus. They have everything from hummus and falafel to buffalo chicken. You also have the choice of white or wheat pita to make your own healthy choice.
The staff are always extremely friendly and it offers a great alternative to some of the other options you would normally choose. I would never compare it to JJ’s across the street, but I think it might be a better choice than Jared’s favorite.

I don’t know what happened — but this place has become a great place to eat — lots of specials and choices — love it. Eat here at least once a week

Yeah, I can’t believe there was a point in my life when I thought a nuked falafel from Pita Pit was okay. This place blows, and I remember it always being packed with annoying 30-​somethings on break from the hospital. So not only are you faced with a long wait for a big expensive terd of a pita, you are forced to eavesdrop on REALLY boring conversations (usually centered around reality tv shows).

I get wraps. I get cold cuts. I get catering to students and late night drunks. I don’t, however, get Pita Pit. How can a place with even the slightest Greek pretension serve such wack gyros and falafel? Both are reheated on a flat top, in diametric opposition to a rotisserie and deep frier, respectively. This is the further reeducation of the American palate. Toppings are free, right? Well, hummus isn’t, and they don’t tell you until you’ve check out. Thanks for the upsell, cock. Oh, and the pitas suck too. I understand the breadth of pita varieties out there, but I prefer the smaller round Greek-​style ones, whereas the Pit uses what I’d call a fucking tortilla. Geh. I won’t waste my time again on their faux Mediterranean, and if I were to want a standard sandwich, I’d go to Jimmy John’s.
