The worst customer service I’ve ever had in my life. While I was shopping no one showed a willingness to help and when I got to the cash register, the two ladies made me feel dumb and made me feel like what I had choosen for my project was ugly to the point where I started to cry. After declining the purchase I offered to put back the fabric I had pulled and the employees didn’t stop me or even say thank you.

This JoAnn is in a busy shopping center. Best time to go is during the week in the morning. They have a decent selection of yarn but not great. Wish they had more. They have a good selection of seasonal items and kid crafts though.

It’s true, large corporations like JoAnn tend to get int the way of their employees doing a good job. I’ve also noticed that most complaints are either about the CUSTOMERS ruining a trip or someone that’s too ignorant to understand how merchandising in retail stores works in tandem with demand as well as how you can’t bend space-​time and make more room for ONE type of fabric for ONE customer, especially when there are several suppliers in the area.
JoAnn in Murfreesboro acts as a one-​stop shop for a college community, not a complete resource outlet for experienced crafters. Keep this in mind while shopping.
Firstly, at this location, there are several experienced seamstresses and one VERY capable male manager who turns out INCREDIBLE pieces on a WEEKLY basis. Also, if you’re a «seamstress», then that implies you don’t need someone with a retail job telling you how to do yours. Most every employee has some skill at JoAnn, however this is a CRAFT store, so the person cutting your fabric (while being completely adept at it) may be more inclined to give advice on knitting or crochet. Keep this in mind or read the actual pattern, as it gives you all the info you need.
Secondly, their queuing lines keep people with «one piece of fabric» from getting thrown to the side for more favorable, larger, profitable bundles. As a former fabric store employee, I can absolutely appreciate this. People who complain about the take-​a-​ticket system only hate it because they have a quantifiable number in their head and they can’t stand knowing how long they’ll have to wait.
Finally, yes, this store is severely understaffed. Just keep in mind that these people live real lives, work part-​time retail jobs, and are subject to the entropy and eventual decay caused by the human mind. Their district managers are more worried about their bonuses and payroll numbers. Stop expecting a personal shopper to manifest the perfect fabric right in front of your eyes, it’s not going to happen. With what little resources it has, this store does an amazing job,

Thank Goodness I never have to go back in this place! Went there for fabric to cover the bottom of my bouquets with. Although it was the only place where I found the perfect fabric I dont think I will ever be back.
I walked in and went straight to the fabric department grabbed my fabric and went to the cutting table where they measure, cut, and scan your fabric. First of all you have to get a number. Really? Then you wait and wait and wait. It is really frustrating when you have ONE yard that you need and almost all of the 10 people in front of you have 4+ different fabrics they need or a buggy full. Then when someone forgets something and needs to «run» and get another fabric the chick just stood there and waited and waited and waited for this chick to go find another fabric. HELLO? You see me standing right in front of you with my one fabric. She couldnt ask me if that all I need or anything while standing there she very easily could have cut me one yard. But nope she stood there looking around, glancing at me every once in a while, for about 5 minutes.
I could see the frustration in others eyes also. Well I finally got my fabric cut and then go the head to the registers. I walk about 10 steps and realize I am at the back of the checkout line. Stood in line waiting to check out for another 15 minutes.
They either need more employees or need to speed up their workers because going in to a fabric store for one yard of fabric and it taking over 30 minutes is not a great shopping experience.

Being a seamstress, I was very excited to get a Joann store in Murfreesboro, but I have to say now that I’ve been mostly disappointed. The staff is not very friendly, helpful, or knowledgable about sewing in general. They are basically trained to cut fabric, that’s it. If you have a question about a pattern or need suggestions on how to alter a pattern, the staff is pretty useless. Also, I find the selection of fabric in this store is not very good unless you are a quilter. Plenty of cotton prints, but not much to choose from if you want to make a garment. And the fabric section of the store is always a MESS! Tangled piles of fabric everywhere! Have been a Joann fan in other locations for a long time, so I think this particular store just needs better employee training and more of them on staff. Lots of long, long lines and tired, frustrated acting staff. Hope the management will take reviews to heart and improve the situation because we need a really good fabric store in this area.
