Murphy’s sweet spot for beer and a true neighborhood pub. The staff is fabulous and the food is great; best corned beef around and great vegetarian options. And no fried fish and chips means the delight is guilt free! Colby keeps a full array of beer options so beer lovers will be completely satisfied. Go enjoy, you won’t be sorry.

This is a quaint Irish Pub in downtown Murphy, NC. We stopped in at lunch time during a week day. The service was friendly and good. I had the Goliath Lima Beans. It was a bowl of tasty Ford Hook lima beans cooked in a tomato based stew. They were delicious. I was not disappointed. My husband had the corned beef, which he found to be very«fatty». He was not impressed and is not interested in returning. However, don’t pass up the Goliath Lima Beans, if you go.

Have been twice now and had a great experience each time. Great beer selection. Excited to start following their rotation of offerings via Facebook.

Love this place. Best beer garden ever been to… Colby has a love for beer and discussion on flavors of beer. And the food was great. I am little addicted to the bangers and mash.

Delicious! We came at lunch on a Monday about 12:30. A few patrons; not packed. Anyway, I had Cabaiste salad with chicken. The cabbage was very mild and not bitter like cabbage can be. My partner had fish and chips and he said the fish battery was light, tasty, and not oppressive to the flaky fish. All in all a very pleasant experience.

No corned beef or Guinness the day before St Patty’s? Seriously? Ordered the bangers and mash instead of Reuben. It was just OK. Place is kind of bar worn– wouldn’t go back.

My husband and I came to Murphy to eat at Parsons based on reviews. Had an excellent experience there! Got to hear about the employees backgrounds and relationships. A neat and cozy Irish environment with a huge selection of lagers, IPA’s and imported beers. We had the sausage rolls, pretzels, and Meat and gravy. It was off the charts delightful! Gave the cook a tip!!! Will definitely will return when back in the area and highly recommend!!!

We had a bad experience. There was 1 waitress working the entire pub. It took awhile to get our order in and then we were brought the wrong food. My husband had the Corn Beef which was good, but the vegetables that came with it were bland and cold. I had the Foul Pot Pie which was horrible. I have had better pot pie that I got at the grocery store. The vegetables in the pot pie were crunchy and the chicken tasted like it was from a can shredded in small pieces. The puff pastry was not crispy, like it had been microwaved. The sauce in the pot pie was watery looking instead of thick and creamy like expected. I won’t be back to this establishment.

Good food and good service. French onion soup, bangers and mash, meat and gravy and Reuben — all very tasty and satisfying. Great beer selection.

Fantastic spot. After a week spent on the Appalachian Trail, all I wanted was a cold beer. Parsons Pub not only delivered that(from a fantastic selection of over 50 craft beers) but also provided unbelievably good food I way more than they charge. The atmosphere was great, and the service matched the rest of the experience. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Beer looks good. Fish is baked and out of a frozen box. My «chips» are soggy and undercooked. Will not be returning. Like I said, looks like it’s more for a beer than actual food. I really think my fish might have been Gortons?

Really enjoy this place; the atmosphere, the staff, and beer… of course. The staff are always super knowledgeable on different beers and have been spot on when giving recommendations based on my taste in beer. I travel for work and having been to Ireland countless times, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to my pub food. The fish and chips is okay, but the Guinness cheese is to die for! I also really like how they have local beers such as Andrews Brewing Co. Definitely a fun place to go to with friends!

Believe the reuben sandwich hype. It’s true. It’s amazing. And the beer selection’s great. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere with good music, we really enjoyed this place after a long day of motorcycling through Western NC.

Our first time at the Parsons Pub. Hubby was adventurous and had a burger. It was good. I had the fish & chips. Verrrry good. Liked the light breading a lot! The beer was fine… All in all, an enjoyable experience!

sat at bar… extensive beer menu(no blue moon, shocktop) did have Newcastle, Bass and of course Guinness. server was friendly, explained that reuben was best choice(«most famous for») and that shepherd’s pie was good. I opted for an app. of fries with«Guinness cheese»… a homemade concoction made with beer, yes, Guinness… which were good. I also had fish & chips, which was cod, but the item comes frozen to them and the cook didn’t really«crisp up»(if’s that’s possible with frozen) the coating. it was marginal at best. if I ate there again I would try something else(another review of this place said the shepherd’s pie wasn’t very good) happy trails

This place was recommended to me by the locals and we decided to check it out. I like how it doesn’t have a TV! Service was good, I tried baked Fish n Chips, everything’s baked there, not fried! I also tried Sticky Toffee Pudding beer which was really good! I would highly recommend this place, what a gem in a little town!

Local restaurants have a new standard to strive toward. The recently opened Parson’s Pub will soon be one of the top destinations in the area. It has the best selection of beer that I know of within 30 miles(many local microbrews on tap and bottled plus a diverse bottled collection including obscure west coast microbrews such as West Coast), I know of nothing closer than Ellijay with a better selection. Despite being a pub, the food is extraordinary: a worthy destination for dining alone. They do not use any deep fryers or a microwave, the result is remarkable. I had the corned beef and cabbage yesterday, I cannot recall the last time I could cut corned beef with one movement of my fork: tender, flavorful, delightful. Today I had the Shepherd’s Pie and it was equally delightful: creamy yet dense and flavorful potatoes and tender meat. I would have preferred less cooked vegetables, but hey, it’s a pub! The side vegetables were steamed(not oversteamed) broccoli with some topping(perhaps finely grated provolone?) that quickly made me forget the vegetables in the pie. The place was half filled on a Monday night shortly after opening, I guess I was late discovering this new gem. Go, you will not be disappointed.
