History

Established in 2009.

This brand new location is the first for Jax Bicycle Center in Riverside County. We built this location from the ground up and feel that it is one of the nicest retail bicycle stores in Southern California. We invite you to stop in and check it out for yourself.

Jax Bicycle Center was started by Jack Salem in 1971 in a small store in Long Beach, CA. Jack grew his business to 4 locations which were purchased by Dave Hanson in 1999. We currently have 8 locations to serve our clients in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego county.

This place is great! I bought a beach cruiser at jax in Huntington Beach. My wife wanted a different one so we went to the jax in our city of MURRIETA! Did I also mention there return policy is outstanding. Anyways we exchanged for another beach cruiser. Which they had to order. We ordered on sun and it came in on Thursday. I needed some accessories switched to the new bike. Not easy Paul had to change some things around to make them fit and he did! I was there for under a hour as he worked on my bike. Asking me questions about where I wanted this or that. Very professional. He did not need to do any of this but he did with a great attitude. Lastly he charged me NOTHING for all his work. Great shop and great employees!

I needed some new tires for my wife’s mountain bike and was originally going to make the trek to the closest REI but figured I’d look on Unilocal for something closer. Jax was 100% the right choice. Pat was very helpful and had new tires and tubes mounted within the hour. Not only did he provide friendly and courteous service but he’d cleaned the bike when I picked it up. Will return for anything bike related. Great store with knowledgeable employees.

Really nice people to do business with. I walked in and in just a few minutes I was on a test ride with the sales manager. He was very patient as I test rode 3 different higher end road bikes around the neighborhood. I ended up buying one of the bikes plus accessories. They took their time on the bike fitting when it came in too.
I am looking forward to joining in on their Saturday rides.

Jax has a great group of friendly, knowledgeable, and service-​oriented mechanics and salespeople. They have been taking great care of my bikes for the last couple of years, and have helped me order plenty of gear that I’ve needed, including a bike rack and a bike box, and most recently a new road bike. They did a fantastic job helping with the break down and reassembly of my tri bike for a trip to Europe last year. Take advantage of their free basic maintenance workshop if you’re unfamiliar with how to care for your bike.

Just moved to the area and was looking around for my new LBS. My wife and I had been making our rounds and came across Jax.
We just wanted to walk in and get a feel for the atmosphere. We were approached almost immediately by a sales associate who was kind enough to let me chat his ear off for the better part of a half an hour.
He answered all my questions, informed me about their weekly shop rides, and made me feel very comfortable.
They don’t carry any of the specific brands of bikes I own, so for warranty work I’ll have to travel elsewhere, which is a bummer; but for the little bits and bobs I’m absolutely going to give them my business.
With all the positive feedback why not a 5th star you ask? They were out of stock in all 8 locations in their mtn jersey in my size. However, the fact that i was willing to pay retail for a shop kit, only minutes after learning that they exist says something. The aforementioned awesome sales associate did tell me that a new order was being placed and I wouldn’t have to wait very long for one though!
Once I get unpacked and my house sorted out, I look forward to harassing them on a regular basis.

Have purchased a bike here; once I told them my budget there was no pressure to go over it. In the time since, every service (tune up or adjustment) has been timely and done right. The staff is always friendly, even though I am an old guy compared to all of them. The sponsored rides are a plus. I know they have 8 locations but everyone at the Murrietta shop makes it feel like a local bike shop.

Recently purchased a set of bibs (I’m beginning to look like a rolling Trek/​Bontrager ad) that said lady had to research and track down via phone and computer all the way to their Long Beach store. They put her on hold for quite a bit but she made sure I got what I wanted and the product was in my hands a few days later. Thanks again for the patience and help. Jax is always my first stop for my cycling needs.

This is great bike shop. Bought my wife’s beach cruiser there a couple of years ago and have been back a couple of times for accessories and to check out the great selection of bikes. The salespeople aren’t pushy and the store has great merchandise. Feels good to buy local as well.

I fully recommend Jax. I’m a weirdo with a custom built fixie and since relocating caused me to lose my bike mechanic roommate, I was pretty lost. A friend who’s into his road bike sent me on my way here to fix my flat tire and loose seat.
After ten minutes and $ 18 I was back on the road again. It was so exciting. Then I got home and realized my tire was flat again. I was deflated. I took it back the next day and the staff immediately recognized the problem that was missed the day before. They apologized for the mistake and didn’t charge me for labor or the new tube this time around.
It was really a minor mistake that didn’t end up costing me anything extra, other than a trip down to Jax. Both times I only had to spend ten minutes checking out the store before my problem was taken care of. I got to walk around and check out the merchandise. They have an impressive selection of road bikes and cruisers along with the necessary accessories for your car, bike and self. Not much on the fixie side, but that’s okay considering Temecula is not the ideal landscape for a single gear bike. The best feature was the giant map of the area and their suggested bike routes! These guys apparently host rides, so folks looking to get in the groove and start biking should check it out.

This is a store for a fairly serious bike enthusiast.
They carry about 2 dozen road bikes, a dozen mountain bikes and a dozen hybrids. Trek seems to dominate their inventory. And if you’re not familiar with Trek, then you probably don’t know that they cost $$$.
The average price for male road bikes is $ 1000. Median prices for mountain bikes and hybrids are in the $ 600-​$ 700 range. There was a work of art, that doubled as a road bike which is selling for 2k. Are you ready?
For you beginners out there, I suggest going to Sports Authority or Dick’s. But if you’re looking to upgrade, I mean seriously upgrade, then head on over to Jax.
The service is incomparable and they will help you maintain your investment for as long as you own it. Of course you can test ride any bike in the store and they’ll help you find the perfect size. But I wouldn’t expect anything less if I were willing to shell out that much escarole for two wheels and pedals.
