I just completed the NRA/​Winchester Basic Pistol course with Gary from L&L Training.
Gary is a 25 year veteran of the US Marine Corps, but he has the unique ability to leave that aside and to speak to civilians as well. I personally have a back ground in firearms via previous military service and know what to look for in a training course. I took the course from the basics to determine if this would be a good place to have my wife attend.
Gary is an excellent trainer. He has enough back ground in firearms to be able to relate book work to real life. He stresses safety in the class and practices what he preaches on the range.
There are several good trainers in the area, and a couple that I would be more than a little concerned about. I would not hesitate to send my wife through the course with Gary, nor anyone else.
