I can’t believe this place is gone the tortillas they made were absolutely the best.

Appears to be closed. :) Unit empty. Sign removed from building. Too bad, their tortillas were always fresh and tasty. Perhaps a victim of the Cardenas market that just opened around the corner. Hopefully they can reopen in another location.

I love this place. It’s like stepping into Mexico. You order your food and the guy makes it right there. You can grab a drink from the cooler and chow down. You pay when your down, keep the can/bottle if whatever you drink so he can charge you correctly. Not much seating because it’s also a market but worth the small space. The portions are huge, food is inexpensive and delicious! They also hand make their own tortillas, salsas, sour cream, pretty much everything. Best Mexican food in town for sure.

Having moved here from a community South of San Diego, finding a good,(I mean REALLY good), authentic, tasting Mexican food tortillaria, & market was important! We tried, & were disappointed in soooo many places around Murrieta, Temecula, & Menifee. Until the day, almost 5 years ago, we tried a couple packs of tortillas from San Jorge Tortillaria & Market. After having been so disappointed, and at some places disgusted, by EVERY other place we’d tried, we were pleasantly surprised by just how delicious, and authentic, and well priced San Jorge’s yellow corn tortillas were! I mean they rival any of the favorites we had down South! These guys know what they’re doing, and they do it well! Even though we live about 15 miles from San Jorge, we make the drive whenever we need corn or flour tortillas at home. And at times here and there we’ve tried some of the deli food they’ve got prepared and ready to eat, & again, we weren’t disappointed. Their carnitas are really good, and so is their salsa and guacamole! If you’ve got a good base to judge your Mexican food and tortillas off of, then I know you’d agree with us!!! Enjoy!

Check your receipt. I went into this store one time on 8÷31÷14 and when I came home I noticed a $ 17. produce charge. I had a feeling I had paid too much but didn’t notice until I came home and looked through the receipt.

Man where do I start… used to come here quite often when it first opened up about 4 years ago. It was convenient, good and the owner was friendly. I recently moved back to the area, and after not having visited this place for about 3 years I decided to drop in and buy some meat. man was I in for a rude awakening. I was waiting with my brother in line while an older white customer was talking to the owner about a certain salsa he saw last time and wanted to try. It was pico de gallo that he was describing but the owner was rudely insisting that it wasn’t and tried to sell him some nasty looking green sauce. The man turned to my brother and I for help, and I told him the name of it. The owner’s eyes grew wide in anger and he turned away after the older white gentleman requested it. The owner said to my brother and I in quick spanish«Im giving him the old shit» we stood there, a little shocked and NOT at all amused. this just seemed to piss the owner off even more. After the white customer bought his items and left the owner just began to ignore my brother and I. I let him know that we were ready and he said that he was«busy» and the other guy who was at the register would help… so we stood there like dummies waiting for them to let us spend our money in their store. Then a blonde lady walks in with her little kids and the owner basically runs to ask her what he can help her with, all the while eyeing her up and down and having a weird perv smile on his face. The lady begins ordering, stops and says«oh im sorry, were these two ahead of me?» the owner simply says no without looking at us. We walked out right then and there. People of murrieta, I get that you want to support a sort of authentic mexican eatery with sometimes good meat. But I wouldnt support this man’s business, especially when he hires questionably legal citizens over locals that need jobs. The meat from stater brother we got was just as good as his and with 100 times better customers service. Anyways a Cardenas is opening down the street, I would go here then support this man’s poor excuse for a business.

For what it is, 4.5 stars. And I have Pancho V to thank for this find. I might have to follow you everywhere. Here is what to expect so there are no surprises. This is primarily a friendly, Mom and Pop Mexican market. You will find produce, canned goods, drinks, about the same limited stock you would find at a 7 – 11 store. It is a tight squeeze to get all their produce and goods displayed on shelves, and in fact there are large ice chests sitting on the floor in front of the butcher counter, the only place to contain their fabulous, freshly made tortillas, still warm from their kitchen. Besides the market, there is a small hot deli where they will make up your food. There is minimal seating inside and out, and absolutely no ambiance. However, if you want really GOOD, authentic South of the Border food at a South of the Border(low) price, you have come to the right place. Each of the four of us chose the same thing, a two taco combo plate(one each of carnitas and carne asada), imagining they were typical street taco size. We wanted to eat light. Ha! It started with tortillas were slightly larger than the street taco size I am familiar with. But I am here to tell you, these tacos had enough meat to triple shame the competition. The carne asada and the tortillas are exceptional, maybe one of the best asadas I have had the privilege to taste. If I had any complaints… the carnitas was quite juicy/oily. But that did not stop me. I drained the oil onto my plate and was immediately struck at the rich flavor and tenderness. An «argument» ensued after leaving, because there was no consensus over which of those meats was the best. The tacos are topped with the typical tomato, cilantro, onion, and guacamole. I was no fan of that day’s guacamole, strangely tasteless, probably not made using a Hass avocado, the King of Avocados in this part of the world. But I can’t fault them for adding a healthy dollop. They also had a tasty not-so-spicy tomatillo salsa.
Rice and beans came with our platter, but were nothing to write home about. Just ok. But put all this together and have the audacity to only charge $ 3.99 for a meal that stuck with me the rest of the day, it was mind blowing. Honestly, if I had been planning to go straight home, I would have packed up a ton of their marinated meat and tortillas and made sure I had another meal in short order. Memorable and one I must repeat. I would NEVER pick a corporate Cardenas Market over this place.

Terrible customer service. I would never come back or recommend this place. The people who run this store are rude and disrespectful. Hello you wouldn’t be in business without customers.

Just had the carne asada taco. Comes on two corn tortillas with guacamole sauce and pico. The carne asada here has a nice kick to it and is not for some gringos. Much better than the carne asada at Aztec Taco.

I hate leaving bad reviews. I believe small business need all the help they can get, but something has to be said about this one. I’ve been coming here since they opened in 2010. They have a nice small market inside that contain the necessities for staple dishes. Though I never bought any meat or tortilla here, they look quite appetizing. The grief I have is with the male cook, usually the only cook at times. First time here I bought a burrito and it was very satisfying. Came here again and he got my order wrong. No big deal to me seeing that I’m not such a picky eater, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. On my next visit I ordered their chicken salad. It was yummy, but it gave me horrible stomach pains. After that I stopped going for about a year. Well a year has past and I drive by one night with my girlfriend, then decided to give them a try again seeing that she has never eaten there. Bad mistake! Not only did he get my order wrong again, even though he repeated my order when I told him it; the food gave us digestion issues. The food was also a bit on the salty side and bland as well. The positive I got from this was that they have Arizona Lemonade. Those things were awesome! Other than that there are other Mexican Restaurants available in the area that will be taking my money instead. I really wanted to like this place since the beginning. I tried, but oh well! Life goes on. **On a random note Cardenas is going to be opening up in the plaza off Madison and Hot Springs, where the Superstore Furniture used to be soon. This place might be non-existent in awhile. Support them if you like their products.

Food is amazing. Very authentic. The price is low and the portions are big. The food was so good that I went in speaking English and left speaking Spanish. Haha! I grew up eating real Mexican food and this is just like momma’s and abuelita’s cooking… maybe better, but don’t tell them I said that. Believe me this is authentic. Don’t let the outside scare you off because the window advertisements make the place look a bit run down, but the inside is nice and clean; plus the food makes up for it.

Our friends, who we were visiting, took us here to pick up ingredients for dinner one night. Everything we purchased — carne asada, tortillas, salsa, avocado, etc. was delicious and very reasonably priced. The next time we visit, I will request that we return here for dinner fixings.

I was on my way back from shopping in Temecula when my boyfriend called me and asked if I could grab tortillas and rice. I was planning the norm… pop into stator bros, grab some gross corn tortillas and boxed rice and head home… until that amazing Thomas Edison invention went off in my noggin and I decided to Unilocal the word«tortilla». Upon doing so this amazing place popped up… it’s sort of hidden so you gotta know it faces ivy/los Alamos I believe. On with my experience… I walked in and was immediately treated by a very kind, helpful guy, he was super sweet. He helped me get their fresh, hot tortillas and at that moment he asked if I needed anything else… that red hot homemade hotsauce was staring at me… so I got some. At that time I decided to ask if they had rice, he helpfully and happily said«of course!» Then I obviously had to add the beans once seeing them too. Alas… I asked for crema, they only had large housemade tubs of this stuff, he was great enough to take halff out and charge me half :) THERESULTS… THEBEST! the beans are to die for, so good you must experience for yourself. The corn tortillas, oh my gosh! So fresh, warm and thin and authentic… pretty much amazing. The red hot sauce was so great, my boyfriend asked why I got so much of it… well, between the two of us we used over half if it, not too spicy not too weak, just right :) My only regret… not getting the marinated meats! My boyfriend was already cooking those that he got at the local grocery store, booo :(well at least I have an excuse to come back!

House Made Fresh Corn and Flour Tortillas. The best I’ve had in SoCal! Not the best ever, but tasty and reasonably priced. I’d have to be in Texas to find tortillas I’ve liked better. I really liked the corn tortillas but the flour tortillas were delicious also. The corn tortillas are made with stone ground corn and are thick. The flour tortillas are almost translucent and are paper thin. The meats were really good, we originally came by while visiting our friends in Temecula and brought over some meat and tortillas for a bbq. Now they are a regular two stops on our visits to our friends in Temecula one stop for a BBQ with our friends and another on the way out for home. They also make some huge tasty burritos one order is enough for 2 peeps. Unless you are really hungry. The staff is really helpful and they seem to carry most of the Mexican Staples, but how is a Japanese guy going to really know that… There are at least 2 other taquerias in the mall. Make sure you go to the right place. Please make a trip and support this fantastic local business.

San Jorge Tortilleria & Market is such a great little spot in what I consider a bad location, not the area just the actual location of this market, it could be considered a Hidden Gem… They make and sell fresh tortillas daily, the corn is real good but the flour is great they remind me of the tortillas in Sinaloa, real thin and delicious! I grabbed some Tacos To Go… Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas y Barbacoa… looks good? Well Pancho had one of those Borracho moments, dropped my container of food upside-down so what do you get? Carne Mixta Add some real good Salsa Roja and it’s all good! I’ll have to go back soon… Stay tuned for the sober update!

73 Tacos, for the month of October and 23 Taco Shops. It’s Taco Tuesday, I’m pretty sure I’m going to take a taco day off today. I was lucky enough to go down with a bang yesterday, ate 4 pretty good tacos and help a lady jump start her car. I did a little researching to find this place, I’ve already been to most of the taco shops in the area. We do have a couple of good ones, but not at the price of .99 cents a taco. Unless you like Del Taco or Taco Bell, for a cheap dog food type meat in your tacos, which in some cases I do. This is a small Mexican Market, I think the sign out front may be bigger then a market. The first thing I notice, once I walked in is how nice the clerks, counter help and cooks treat the customers«excellent». No matter how good or bad the food maybe, good costumer service is always a plus. Meat counter, cooking station, small amount of groceries to pick from, mexican candy, soda and some other good stuff. They also have a pretty good size menu, better then most Mexican taco shops or restaurants in the area. 4 tacos, carnitas, carne asada, al pastor, chicken. Chicken Taco, this was pretty good, best part is that it’s not precooked and cubed, tender meat, most likely leg and thigh meat which is always the best tasting in tacos, seasoned good, marinated in a lite red sauce while cooking, with onions, cilantro and guacamole on top. 3.5 Carnitas Taco, another marinated meat, pulled pork, very tasty meat, seasoned with cumin with a small amount of garlic, onions, cilantro and guacamole, easily one of the best I he area. 4 Carne Asada Taco, cooked flank steak, they take it from the meat case, very tender meat, seasoned with standard salt and pepper, but had a small sweet taste to the meat, almost like al pastor would have, but with beef, onions, cilantro and guacamole. 3.5 Al Pastor Taco, awesome flavor in the meat, marinated just right, not to sweet, most likely used off the shelf adobe sauce, the had a couple to pick from on the shelf, al pastor is on my top list of tacos, to many taco shops over do the sugar in the marinated sauce, onions, cilantro and guacamole. 3 The only negative, was the corn tortillas where a little to greasy, but besides that, it’s all pretty good. 4 tacos and ice tea, $ 5.47 Over the weekend I received 2 e-mail from Unilocal,1 because of a picture and 1 because I was acting or said racist remarks. Um OK I’m going to try and be more PC friendly. LMAO.

If I may quote the electrifying Johnny Gill… My, My, My I don’t know what took me so long to get around to visiting this place but I’m even more dumbfounded as to why no one else in Murr/Tmec has reviewed this place either(aside from Andrew S.). This is a Mexican mini-market of marvelous delights. Their marinated meats far surpass those at Lopez Market and their Burrito Brothers in-house restaurant whips out offerings that rival that of the mighty Alberto’s on Hot Springs. Prices are very competitive, especially for the marinated meats. I suggest the Al Pastor Longaniza, Carne Asada, and Chorizo. Their red and green salsas are homemade and can pack a punch depending on how hot the chiles are. But the great thing about this place is that you can pass off the marinated meat as your own. Imagine showing up to a barbecue with a tray full of marinated meat for grilling and everyone asking where you bought it. You sneakishly say, «I marinated it myself!» No one would know because gringos don’t shop here. And while you shop, treat yourself to an ice-cold bottle of Coca-Cola. It’s from Mexico and made with sugar. The taste will blow you away. It’s kind of ironic when you think of it; Coke w/sugar is available in all 3rd world countries whereas HFCS(high fructose corn syrup) Coke dominates the US(the richest country in the world). Claim that meat…
