Interviewed 3 different moving companies before deciding to go with student movers. Let me start by saying the customer service was AMAZING! From the moment we called they worked with us and helped us meet our short deadline for a moving date. As soon as the team arrived, they were all smiles and super friendly. Manny cracked a joke right away and instantly bonded with us. My gf was worried about her grandmothers chair and dresser that has been passed down, and at first was hesitant to even let them touch it… Let me tell you… The team did a better job showing the furniture care then she has over the years (If you read this, sorry babe but it’s true). They showed it extra love and attention and we’re sure to set her at ease about the whole process.
When looking for a mover I think it’s safe to say this is everything you would want… Friendly staff, great pricing, attention to detail, amazing customer service, and easy to work with. Could not recommend enough!
We are in love with our new place, and we hope we don’t have to move again any time soon, but if we ever did have to, I could 100% say with confidence that I would use them again. I would give more stars if I could.

Friendly and helpful movers. Worked with us last minute and are super affordable. Michelle was really nice and helpful, Shabir and Robert did the move and were very punctual and quick with the move.

What a weird lie years after the fact. Never asked for a full refund, never gave any ultimatums.
Just wanted them to help us find someone to repair the hutch. Did have to get in touch a few weeks after the fact because we assumed that the problem was being handled. Surprise of all surprises they had no idea who I was and they couldn’t have possibly been responsible of any damage to anything.
Also I think this DM I got from Shawn pretty clearly violates Unilocal terms of service.

Their dispatcher, Michelle was so helpful to me. She answered my call late Sunday evening and she was kind enough to explain in detail why the cost of moving filled artificial turf would be expensive.
If their movers are as professional, kind as their representative Michelle then I am impressed. Thank You– Michelle I give Michelle a five but a non rating for the company because I have not used their services.

Great job, Greg and Jason were very fast, professional and on time. I was lucky to get them on a Sunday.

I am extremely pleased to have used student movers. They showed up early, worked diligently and took great care of my stuff. They were careful with my furniture and in my house. They knew how to pack up the truck and I can tell that Greg has been doing this for a long time. Jason & Victor were great too. I called for a last minute move & I am glad other reviews led me in the right direction. I would definitely use them again. Thanks guys!

This Manager Shawn that responded is a liar. I ordered a move for a 4 bedroom home and 3200 sq ft and have the confirmation email to prove it. He is covering for his mother who made the mistake in underestimating the project. I did not order a 4^th guy — they sent him for training. My furniture was NOT damaged prior and I have pictures of it 2 weeks prior to prove it as well as house guests for a going away party that can attest to that. The original bill was $ 1400, I paid $ 1030 after the $ 250 discount and Ricardo not charging me for the last half hour. I did try to complain earlier by leaving a voicemail and an email for a Manager to contact me. I wasn’t called until almost the end. Horrible experience!

I purchased a groupon to use their service for our move. Everything was set up and on the day that we were set to move, I called in to make sure that all was set about an hour before our window. I was told that there were no delays and that we are set for my appointment time. About 2 hours later, I received a call stating that they were in fact not coming after all. Someone called in sick, they didn’t even have a truck available, and I was given two options. Option 1 — go find a truck, they would pay for it and refund my groupon. Option 2 — do the move the following day. Well, both options presented problems as trying to get a truck at that time on a Saturday would be an added stress and challenge. The real issue though was that I had 4 additional people lined up to help expedite the move for that day, and would not have them available the following day. My concern was that I would now be inconvenienced and also incur overtime charges. I was told not to worry about the potential of additional costs as they would take care of me because of the inconvenience. Based on that confirmation and agreement, I took option 2.
The guys arrived the following day on time and they were great. Very ready and willing to work and did a fantastic job overall with the move. However, immediately I noticed a red flag. I was asked to provide my credit card in case I went over my time. Shocking right? I told them I would not as I had already paid and been assured that extra time would not be an issue. They put me on the phone with the same person I had spoken with the day before and she was not helpful. She told me that «no one gets a free ride». Nice customer service right. I explained that I wasn’t looking for a «free ride» especially since I had already pre-​paid. She was very argumentative and I could tell it wasn’t going to end well. I basically told her I didn’t have time to argue over the phone and that I needed to get back to my move and hung up.
I did not fill in their cc form and just proceeded with the move as I hadn’t agreed to pay any extra time anyway, especially since they broke their agreement with me the day before. So, we proceeded and as I stated, the rest of the move went well.
Well, the next day there was an additional charge on my credit card. When I set up the original appointment, I had provided a card in case I went over my slotted time on the original date of the move. I tried to contact the company a couple of times and no one would reply to my complaint or request to refund the erroneous charge. I ended up having to get my credit card company involved and they will take the appropriate action.
One thing to point out though is that when my credit card company called them, a representative from the Student Mover’s office told me that it didn’t matter what I was told on the phone by their company representative. The example he used was that if you go to the store to buy bananas and the store clerk says they are free, that if you leave with those bananas you are stealing. What? Doesn’t even make sense. In any event, poor customer service, poor follow up to complaints, and a bit of a bullying mentality.

Student Movers are very professional from the phone call to schedule the move, to the day of the move. The movers took good care of my belongings and were very polite. They not only moved everything, they placed it where I wanted it. Even when I changed my mind.
I’m not planning to move again, but I would certainly use Student Movers again and I recommend them highly.

All of the hard work and heavy lifting was done with smiles and a «what else can we do to help and make this I’ve easier for you» attitude. They took very special care with our items. Used them to move a little while back, great customer service, and the movers were quick and efficient.

We called Student Movers for a last minute move. We were moving from a rental in Murrieta to our new home that we purchased about ½ mile away. The company was very polite and helpful.
On the day of the move, our movers showed up in a rental truck from Penske. I don’t have a problem with this, but they showed up without any materials to make the move, other than moving blankets which they didn’t use enough of. This company attempted to move my large refrigerator with a normal hand truck. I observed the wheels almost flat as they moved it to the front door. They took the handles off and proceeded through the door. When it got stuck, they forced it through and the bolts the handles connect to took deep gouges out of the front door of the rental house. There was no apology only «God damn it we got the door.»
On several occasions I went out to look into the back of the truck. They didn’t use any shrink wrap or protective blankets for our larger, heavier furniture. When the furniture was delivered to the house, we noticed many scratches, scuffs, and gouges in our dining room furniture and book cases.
When they left the rental, they literally threw about 15 moving blankets into the back of the truck that they didn’t use. These could have protected our furniture, but they went unused. As they began to pull away from the house, the lift gate wasn’t up all the way and the back door was not pulled down. They got to the stop sign and realized items were beginning to fall out of the back, so they stopped and fixed everything.
Along with the damage that was done, it also took them an unreasonable amount of time to make the move. We have moved several times and always it was done in about 4 hours. This time I disassembled the bedroom furniture prior to them getting to the house and had most of it in the hall way in pieces. I wanted this move to go fast because we were strapped for money. It took the movers to move a three bedroom house, with most of the furniture disassembled almost 7 hours. I find that to be excessive. I read another review on their Facebook page and it stated the same complaint about how long it took them to move.
When I called on Monday afternoon to complain, I believe it was Shawn that said I had called right before 5:00. He was going to send me an email with the customer survey information. On Tuesday when I got home from work, we still had no email, so I called and got Shawn’s voice message. At this point I was a little peeved on how I was treated. I didn’t receive any kind of return call. About twenty minutes later I received the email at 4:50. I guess I need to call at ten minutes to five to get any kind of assistance.
I am very disappointed in this company and the way they treat their customers. I have filled out their report and am waiting to hear what they say. i have also lodged complaints on their Facebook page and the Better Business Bureau. To say the least, I will not use their company again.

I needed some last minute help for a move to Murrieta after my dad unfortunately fell ill. I hired the guys for solo labor to just load my truck from my apartment; since I had already reserved a UHaul truck. They showed up right on time and were ready to work. I was amazed at how fast and efficient they were! In 2 hours they got all my boxes, couch (which is ridiculously heavy and hard to move), dresser, dining table, and desk. Keith was amazing, helpful, and on it. I appreciate their awesome help, and it’s definitely one of the best deals you’ll find in the area. I’ll be using them for my next move for sure!

I wanted to save my back but didn’t want to break the bank on super expensive movers. I have used The Student Movers two times now and I can happily say that my back is in top notch shape and my bank account is none the worse for wear!
I had never hired movers before so I appreciated their website which explained the process and services available. I booked online then a friendly operator called to confirm my appointment and helped me estimate how many movers and time I should book for my specific circumstance.
During my first move we had a relatively small two bedroom place in Hermosa Beach so I hired two movers inclusive of moving truck. They handled the narrow streets and staircase with ease. The truck was just the right size to fit all our stuff so they are good at estimating.
My next experience was just as good, but this time we needed to put most of our stuff into storage for a few months. The Student Movers came to the rescue again and on short notice provided 3 guys who helped us strategically pack our Pod in Long Beach. They were amazingly efficient and even helped get our stuff into the boxes themselves since we weren’t completely packed up by the time they arrived for the appointment.
I gave all of our movers a tip at the end of both moves since they did such a good job. I will definitely be using them again.

Driving to my parents house 6÷7÷14 from Sherman oaks, ca. I was pleased to meet Jimmy and Nick from student movers. They arrived Saturday morning ready to work and gave us great customer service. There was a ton on large heavy items my dad 55+ community home moving from the rental home to an adjacent 55+ community new bought home 3 miles away. The morning was early and nick and Jimmy had heavy couches a fridge and awkward shaped furniture especially an old china cabinet (without glass) into our 14 foot uhaul moving truck. They got the job done within the time limit and honestly must have broke their backs to do it. We are first time customers as I would recommend this company especially if your in a time constraint. Few scrapes to some furniture but to be expected when moving so much stuff. Worth the money and Nick really kept his positive energy up to kick start the moving day for us.

Needed a quick local move for a couple rooms of stuff. These folks were available on short notice, changed time to accommodate me at the last minute, showed up 10 minutes early for their 1 hour window and had me packed, moved and unpacked in under 3 hours. Great work, clean, friendly, professional young men — Jake and his partner. No hesitation in recommending them and thanks to Unilocal is why I hired them in the first place. Good call.

I am formally retracting my previous review on Student movers. I have used them a total of 4 times now. The first time was amazing! The second time was just as good. The third time was disappointing, BUT the fourth time was amazing as well.
The price is right with Student Movers and Frances could not be sweeter through the booking process. After my most recent move, she called to make sure everything went well and that we were happy with the service. Frank and John were very nice men and worked very efficiently. They even stayed past the original scheduled time without complaining getting sloppy with the work.
To anyone who had a not so positive experience in the past, I encourage you to try again because it was clear that things were much different now than in 2012.

DO NOT USE!!! Booked 3 weeks ahead. Told Jackie (phone person) all details of items including a pool table. Get a call from the mover to go over details the night before the move and he informed the can take pool table apart but not put it back together. Really!!! Jackie never told me that otherwise I would’ve booked a company who CAN!
i had to pay a pool table specialist and came out of pocket $ 245.
They scheduled me between 8:30 — 9:30. Get a call they are running lat at 9:30. They were trying to give me a hard time as well because we went from needing 4 movers to 3 (since they will not do the pool table).
They are unorganized, and that makes all the difference. They don’t have it together internally as their communication sucks! NEVER again will I use them!!!

This was our 2^nd move with Student movers and again these guys worked their butts off. Last time we only hired them to unload, this time we did full service — 3 guys and had them bring the truck and supplies.
I have some ridiculously heavy furniture and didn’t hear a peep out of them. WE were also off with our estimate — so our 3 hour job turned into 8 and the guys stuck it out til the end.
I am forever amazed by the people that let their unique, antique and non-​replaceable items in the hands of other people. Why on earth wouldn’t you move that yourself if it was so special? I made sure anything that was precious went bubbled wrapped in my car behind the moving truck.
Anyway I digress, Student movers did a great job, very professional and great attitudes.
We did have a few scuffs and scratches but I have a sneaking suspicion my own husband was responsible for those while he was trying to «help» the movers.

I recently moved from Orange, CA to Huntington Beach, CA (Surf City USA!) and had a great move with the Student Movers. I ended up needing extra help at the last minute, and they were happy to oblige.
The customer service was great. I dealt with the owner directly and he made sure I was taken care of. I even liked them online to try and win a gift card from them.
I was surprised at how affordable it could be to get some extra help moving more than we thought we had, especially at last moments notice. Good value, great work.
