Description

Specialties

Northway Lanes has been a favorite destination of the Muskegon community and a top entertainment facility since 1957. Bowling has always been our central theme but generations of families and guests have been entertained by visiting our banquet facilities, pool room, lounge, pro shop and café as well!

Over the years, many famous and ‘colorful’ personalities have graced our facility including Evander Holyfield, Willie Mosconi, Danny Windsor, Jerome Bettis and a host of professional bowlers.

Northway continues to be the largest home to league bowlers in West Michigan. National, state and local tournament bowlers travel to Muskegon and spend numerous dollars while enjoying the competitive side of bowling at Northway. High school bowling has grown immensely and Northway has been a driver of that growth.

History

Established in 1957.

Northway Lanes was established and originally built in North Muskegon with 42 Lanes. It was owned and operated by Ralph Kuris along with Al & Bessie Shull. Brunswick completed the installation and it was among the first wave of automatic pinsetters in the country. Bob Jacobs, later an owner, began as a mechanic/manager at this location along with Jim Schaab, current pro shop manager.

In 1967 construction began on our current facility at 1751 Evanston. Existing houses were bought and moved to accommodate the building and parking lot. The 42 lanes were brought over from the original site with 8 more lanes added to get to the current 50 lanes.
