Complete K-9 Academy, Inc

I am trying to find a place to have my dog trained and I am looking around at all the options in this part of the state. I called the facility looking to make an appointment to meet the owner or a trainer and see the facility. I want to see that the conditions of the facility and the people I’d be leaving my dog with seem appropriate.
I was told that the owner/​trainers time is so busy and valuable that I had to buy a 2 hour lesson and evaluation at $ 75, just to see if this was a place I even thought I could leave my dog.
If you walk into a restaurant and see that it is not fit to eat in you can turn around a leave. The chef doesn’t take a deposit on a meal you might eat. If you test drive a car they don’t charge you a prorated lease plus milage for the test drives.
The impression I get is that after the evaluation and the tour most people never sign up for classes so that $ 75 up front is important. The owner/​trainer may have forgotten I was a human calling in and not a stray dog as she was very curt throughout the conversation.
Maybe this place is amazing but, I’ll never find out because I was put off in 2 mins by the way they represented themselves on the phone.
If this business is so overflowing with customers banging down the door it might be time to hire some part time help. They could offer a by appointment only visit of the facility and an explination of services on the first Saturday of the month by an employee less burden by success than the owner.
Good luck to anyone looking for a place to train your dog. Complete K-​9 Academy has trained me that it is tough to find the right place for your pet.

I can not tell you how happy I am that I chose Gaby to train my do Shadrach! She is amazing and the training is worth every penny. We went to see Gaby before moving from Tampa to New York city. I was worried about Shadrach’s manners and ability to adjust to a new living environment.
We went to meet Gaby at her home/​training facility and after assessing Shadrach, she recommended a complete training program with some behavioral rehabilitation with some follow up training sessions for me. I dropped him off for 10 days and when I got him back, he was my same sweet loving dog, but just a better version of himself; well behaved, less anxious.
In my sessions with Gaby and Shadrach, she taught me all the commands and gave me insight into how she taught him. She made sure I felt confident in his new commands and training.
Now, 6 months later, he is such a pleasure to take out, to walk, to be around my friends and family. I get so many compliments on his behavior. He is not always perfect, but he is close. And when he is not, I feel like I now know how to correct him in a meaningful way.
I am so happy to have had Gaby in our lives and would highly recommend her!

Our 5 mo old mastiff puppy, Stella, was getting big and hard to handle. We have normally trained our own dogs (not that well, but at least the basics,) but since we had experienced 2 moves in her short life and were unable to give her the adequate time she needed to learn new behaviors. We chose to have Stella go for Boot Camp Obedience 1&2 which meant she would be gone 8 days. I was fine with that, but our kids were not. :) Gabby, the owner of Complete K9 Academy, only takes 2 dogs at a time to train and I knew with that kind of one-​on-​one attention that Stella would be a joy, instead of a stressor, when she returned to us.
After going through an initial evaluation to see if Stella would benefit from Gabby’s training, we returned to Complete K9 Academy to drop Stella off. During that drop-​off we went over all of our hopes for her, the issues she was currently having and issues we personally wanted to avoid in the future. Stella was able to play freely with Gabby’s dogs while we were talking and get to know her temporary home for an hour or two before we left her. Over the next week Gabby sent several videos of Stella to show us that she was not only happy and well, but what she was learning. The kids lived for those videos as they missed her very much.
Stella went through the intensive training working with Gabby in many situations, (ie. obeying through distraction, learning she is to be submissive to the human in control, not the other way around, how to heel and not pull the leash (yea!!!), to wait at the door until released before going out, etc.)
When we returned to pick Stella up, Gabby had us wait a distance away while she showed us what Stella could do and before she let Stella greet us. I knew how hard it was for Stella to wait, but she did work and she worked well. She also had to sit and wait to be released before she showered us with kisses. We spent another hour with Gabby showing us all that Stella learned and trained us how to keep building her newly established obedience into habitually behavior. She showed each of our 4 children (5 – 12 yo) how to walk her properly and to correct her if need be. It was wonderful to watch our 5 yo be able to handle a dog that only a week before he was a bit afraid of.
I couldn’t be more thrilled with how Stella came back to us. Understanding that she is a mastiff (slower obedience timing than Gabby’s dobs) and that she is a puppy, I was amazed at how she well she did. We are doing our homework to the best of our ability and have 2 more «lessons» to attend that come with the package.
I would highly recommend Complete K9 Academy to anyone with any need for dog training. ESPECIALLY, if you are ready to give up on the dog. Gabby trains police dogs, narcotic dogs, etc. She can turn around a little monster and make it a great family dog. She is such a pleasure to work with and I hope many other dog owners will enjoy the benefits of having their dog trained by Gabby at Complete K9 Academy.
