Where to begin? My boyfriend and I travelled from North Myrtle Beach to this store last nt. to purchase a flat screen television on sale with a one day additional 11% off promotion. Not one single person greeted us as we walked all the way through the store to the electronics department in the back(including manager(s)). This was our first visit to the store, as well(first impressions). We were perusing the TV’s trying to locate the particular one we were interested in, and just looking around in general. The sales person in the department did not acknowledge us in any way. He(Donald Ormsby) stood working at his POS and ignored us. My boyfriend finally asked about the tv. He was answered with«that’s our off brand. It isn’t out.». It was said in a disparaging manner. Well. the«off brand» was on display — in a smaller size. Maybe it was in error… because apparently they are not«good enough» to be on the shelves with the OTHER brands… Next, Mr. Ormsby, informed us he would have to check to see if it was in stock. Also said in a less than friendly tone. What do you know — it was. I knew it was because I checked all this before we drove all the way down there. I was asked for name and address for him to enter into POS. I offered my newly received HH Gregg credit card and was told no. To verbally give the information. Which I did not. I had already had it with Mr. Ormsby and his ATTITUDE. I asked about the 11 percent promotion, which was available yesterday only, for items $ 299 and over. The tv was by sheer coincidence $ 299. He, in a tone, said he would have to check to see if it applied to this purchase. Again, something I had checked into and indeed, it was applicable. He went off to ask a manager and returned stating it applied. Mr. Ormsby then asked for my driver’s license, for the credit card transaction. I do not drive and NORMALLY do not have any issues with the photo ID that I present. I had THREE pieces of identification with my photo on it, and was told NONE could be accepted — and that was a credit card company policy, not the store. I was beyond infuriated now. I have worked in retail and understand it is not the easiest job in the world but this was ridiculous. This store clearly did not care about providing good customer service. It did not give one(fill in the blank) if they sold this tv or not. They would just as soon have us leave(them alone) and they clearly did NOT care what kind of impression they made — even knowing it was our first visit to an HH Gregg store. At that point I could care less about the tv. Nothing is worth this much hassle and one of the rudest attitudes I have ever encountered with a retail sales employee. My boyfriend though, is more tolerant of such behavior, was looking at the big picture(so to speak) and also did not want to see me disappointed,(I had been pricing tvs since before Christmas) or waste the trip down to the store. He pulled out his debit card to pay for the tv. It defeated the purpose as I wanted the six month interest free credit card promotion, however, the situation was contentious and stressful enough at this point. The tv was purchased and I did indicate I WOULD be Unilocaling —(loudly), over this horrendous experience. Aside from the ATROCIOUS behavior and treatment, we ARE happy with our new tv. but NOTHANKS to HH Gregg. It was easy to set up. And even being an «off brand» appears to be good quality. I would like to THANK the young man who brought the tv out from the warehouse to our vehicle. He could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He was the ONLY asset of the entire store, during our experience. After the transaction was completed, I went outside and bent the credit card until it broke into several pieces and it will be cancelled today. I will never shop at HH Gregg again — even if they are GIVING things away. My mother had a similar bad customer experience at a HH Gregg in Fayetteville, North Carolina, after purchasing a bottom freezer/refrigerator unit. She was not happy when I expressed interest in purchasing a tv from HH Gregg. Another friend here in the Myrtle Beach area purchased this brand of tv over a year ago at THISHH Gregg and had a bad experience with an employee as well, however also is very satisfied with the tv. I hope corporate is reading this and plans to make significant changes. They are certainly needed — especially from someone I am making a major purchase from. I don’t ask for or expect special treatment but I will not tolerate this type of behavior from anyone, especially in the service industry. It is uncalled for. We were so excited to be getting a tv. It was my first flat screen. Now I look at it and am reminded of a very bad experience.

I went to HHGreg last week Saturday to inquire about purchasing a washer. I spoke with a gentleman name Scott after finding the washer I want on sale for $ 549. Scott informed me the sale is until July 11th. So yesterday I went back to the store at 830, they close at 10pm. When I got there they informed me there finance people Acceptance first just left.(I was going to do the 90 days same as cash program) I asked what time they closed and the manager told me that they were suppose to stay open until the store closes but because it was slow she left. I asked if I came back Sunday(today) they would honor the sale price because its not MY fault their finance people left before their shift was complete. I was told No I would have to lay the regular price of $ 719. So because an employee of a company that partners with them decided to leave early I was denied as a customer. Not to mention the employees acted like it was no big deal and o well. My experience with them was completely unprofessional and I was treated like I was asking for way too much. I’m very disappointed in this company! I do not plan to go back.
