History
Established in 1892.
Susie was running a small Culinary School in Los Gatos, CA and I was in Marketing when we met. Two months later we started talking about things we could do together, & work this hard for ourselves. Since we were sipping wine in her backyard, I mentioned a B&B. She said «I’ve never stayed in one.» On Saturday we drove up to Napa & talked to Caroline Roberts, our Realitor. She said there are 3 in the area– 2 in Calistoga and 1 in Napa. We drove to Calistoga– they were cute little 4 bedroom places w/lace and teddybears. I’m not the lace & teddy bear kind of guy, so we drove to Napa. As we drove toward the B&B we passed big beautiful Victorians. When we got there it was a short adobe roofed house. We were disappointed, so we drove around to see other Victorians in the area. When we got to the corner of Oak & Coombs we loved the look of the Cedar Gables Inn. We stopped so Susie could at least see a B&B. Before we could ring the doorbell, my cell phone rang– Caroline said «one
Meet the Business Owner
Ken and Susie P.
Business Owner
Ken started as an Electronics Engineer and moved into Semiconductor Marketing in Sunnyvale, CA. Susie had been in hospitality and was running a small Culinary School in Los Gatos, CA.
They met and within several months purchased the Cedar Gables Inn. Before they purchased the Inn they read the books and found out that there were three things that were required to make a Bed and Breakfast run successfully.
1. Someone needs to know how to Cook (That is Susie– She is fabulous in the kitchen and has started cooking classes)
2. Someone needs to know how to fix things (That is Ken– he can fix almost anything)
3. Both people have to like being around people (Ken & Susie both came from big families and love visiting in the Old English Tavern in the Cedar Gables Inn)
