Babies R Us

They open at 9am on Mondays according to their website and signage, however when I arrived at 9:20am the doors were locked. I saw 2 employees near the door and so I knocked. One never picked her head up to look, and the other one gave me the «wait» finger. I waited thinking she was going to unlock the door, but instead she turned around and was on her radio. What kind of customer service is that?! I left and will be going to Buy Buy Baby from now on.

It’s a big store, they sell baby goods, if you’re a parent looking for a one stop shop this is a good choice. They have a nice variety of products.
There are huge signs throughout the store to tell you where things are located. On this particular visit I needed sippy cups and a potty. I walked around until I saw the department I needed. I was able to get a very cool potty that just happened to be on sale, whoo hoo!
I also stood at the cup section for about 15 minutes because there were so many options.
The store has always been clean, somewhat organized, but I have to agree with the others, the people at check out are not very useful.
There were only 2 checkouts open at the customer service area. One person was returning something so the line was not moving. Finally the woman in front of me completed her purchase. I expected to be called over right away but instead the check out lady stood there conversations with the other 3 employees just hanging out by the desk. The woman kept complaining about the person who trained her because they taught her wrong, she had been placing the returned goods in the wrong bins. So about 3 minutes after she finished checking out the woman in front of me she finally waves me over. How about you worry about keeping the lines moving rather than talking.

The staff working here are clueless. Especially the women at the registers. There is always one line open with a ton of customers and workers just walking by just staring. I have had to take back several items before. Once due to the clerk leaving the security tag on and secondly, she bagged my baby dish soap with some baby clothes I bought and when I got home, the clothes were soaked in dish soap. It was a very older lady. The younger girls, seem to just stand there and pick their noses. And the older ladies or very SLOW. I prefer Buy Buy Baby a lot better!!!

People working here have no effin idea what they sell, or even what they have have in stores, worst customer service.

Be careful of their shipping costs. They advertise free shipping after a certain threshold, but then you can’t get the times without paying an expedited costs. I won’t shop there again, after a couple bad experiences.

I decided to purchase a memory book from my friend’s gift registry here. I’m not particularly excited by these one-​stop baby shops since most items, like clothing and basic baby wares, are grossly overpriced. Babies R Us is owned by Toys R Us, and prices are in line with that.
I thought I was being smart by going online for store pick-​up. Finding my friend’s registry was easy. Purchasing the item to arrange for in-​store pick-​up was easy. I received an e-​mail rather quickly to notify me that my item was ready for pick-​up. If you don’t print the e-​mail, that’s okay, you click a link in the e-​mail when you arrive to «check in.»
I clicked the «check in» link while I was still in my car. When I walked inside the store, I stood in a really long line at the Merchandise Pick Up counter. The regular check-​out lanes were dead. A bored cashier kept looking at the merchandise pick-​up line and asking, «are those all pick-​ups? oh, well I can help someone here…» and no one moved. I guess we all had the same idea.
An employee, who appeared to just be in charge of watching the line, randomly decided to intervene and send some of us to the baby registry desk for our items.
When I got to the Baby Registry, I showed the woman my phone. She asked for my order number. I obliged. She cringed and said, «the order number should start with the number 1.» I looked at my e-​mail. The «order number» did not start with the number 1.
I said, «There is a GFS number on here. I don’t know what that is, but it starts with 1.»
Oh. I guess THAT was it. I guess in order to shop here, you also need to understand their lingo.
An employee soon after walked up to me, item in bag, read off my name, handed me the bag, and then walked away. The woman at the baby registry didn’t look up or acknowledge me — she had already moved on to the next customer.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, the store pick-​up feature is completely useless. The staff was not helpful at all, and I would have been better off walking up and down each aisle if I had to to find the item myself.
I don’t plan to register here when I have kids, nor do I plan to shop off of any baby registries here in the future.

It’s great for baby registry and many other items but if you shop around you may find the same items cheaper else where. Buy items on clearance here is helpful when on a budget.

As a mother of twin boys, we have spent thousands of dollars at this store. When i was pregnant we did our registry with Babies R US. They offer special discounts if you completed your registry before your due date. So, we did just that. We had purchased a $ 359 Motorola baby monitor. Upon check out with over $ 2,000 of merchandise we were convinced to purchase the «extended warranty «on our baby monitor. The manager Anthony, told us that if anything went wrong he would exchange it in house. We were never informed that this was only a 12 month warranty from the time of purchase. Well, we bought the monitor 2 months before the babies were born, they were in the NICU for 16 days, then they slept in a crib next to us for the next 3 months. So we have only used the monitor for 8 months before the sound went out. Anthony told us that there was nothing he could do. He was rude and even suggested that we had not purchased the monitor from his store. I will no longer shop or promote this over priced baby store. We feels like we were taken advantage of!

I’ve been to this location only once, and I wish it were a better experience. I was shopping off a baby registry, and only once was I greeted by someone. The registry itself was a little difficult to figure out, and I couldn’t find anyone to ask for help. It looked like some of the employees were having a pow-​wow at customer service, and seemed to be indifferent about being there. It seems like the products that are sold here are great quality, but because I had this experience, I am not sure if I will be back or not.

If I could give this place no stars, I would. Had a gift card for Babies R Us so I went to purchase a baby monitor. A sales associate was helping another couple at the registry desk and called someone over for us, we waited and waited and no one ever came. Decided to just go get a few other things with the gift card because it didn’t appear anyone was going to come over, I just wanted to use it so I didn’t have to come back again.
Picked up a few items, there was a line at the customer service desk because there weren’t any cashiers in the regular lanes, finally someone opened up so we could get checked out. Cashier couldn’t explain their coupon policy and kept telling me I purchased something that was buy two get one free and I was getting an item for free. None of the items I purchased had that sign and the only reason I got some thing for «free» was because he scanned one of my items twice. Thank goodness I looked at my receipt before we left the parking lot.
HORRIBLE customer service. I told the cashier after he had to correct the sale that we were heading to Buy Buy Baby because we actually get service, which we did and got a baby monitor and were in and out of Buy Buy Baby in about 10 minutes.

As a mom of two I shopped at this location for years. I have to say that I am very disappointed at their customer service. To be more specific, their store manager assistant Linda was plain and simple rude and did not want to help in any way when I asked for assistance returning/​exchanging an item. People like that should not be at that bussiness. I am going to bring my business next door to Buy Buy Baby where they do PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE from any internet site.

I don’t much about places for baby stuff. The lady who helped us register for a registry was really nice, but really opinionated. It was really frustrating that their selection was really limited and be prepared… when registering you will be there for hours and not get ¼ done.

My wife and I registered here in January and we had nothing but problems with this place. The registry experience was ok with the exception of our registry gun going haywire and us having to redo our registry. All we heard from friends and family who purchased items for us were issues about a lot of our items being discontinued. Also our registry was never up to date. When we went to exchange several items we were hassled because we didn’t have the receipts even though they were on our registry. A good number of the prices were incorrect and we later found out that the friends who bought these items paid more than we received credit for. Altogether we lost close to $ 50 in store credit. All this fun waiting in a line with 7 different guests at the service desk while several employees wandered aimlessly around the store unwilling to open another register…
My sister and her husband registered here as well. We recently shopped for them and out of the countless items we purchased, only 2 were NOT purchased more than once. UPDATE THE REGISTRY, PEOPLE!!!
If there were only more Buy Buy Baby stores in the area…

As a mom to a new baby, I’ve definitely trolled the Babies R US quiet a few times and I’ve bought a few things that were a screaming deal I couldn’t pass up.
When you enter the store, you may or may not be greeted, depends on how the front desk associates are feeling that day I guess. It’s okay, I usually wander around looking at the deals and really just hanging out with my baby.
When coupons are available you can score some great deals, otherwise, it’s best to shop other stores for your baby items. However, if you are looking for a stroller they have a vast selection from low-​end to very high-​end and usually the associates working in strollers are the nicest in the store.
On a side note, it sucks that the discount card I have with them barely ever registers my purchases and nobody has been able to fix it. So I miss out on deals, and thus I shop elsewhere.

I recently gave birth to twin boys and registered at Babies R Us. My experience with this company has been negative from start to finish. If I had known how unfriendly and difficult the process of getting things for our babies would be at Babies R Us, I would have registered at Target. I love Target!
I registered online because I was on bedrest so couldn’t go into the store to register. When I did go into the store after the babies were born the woman at the gift registry desk was very dismissive and didn’t appear to want to answer my questions.
The most difficulty I’ve had is in actually getting anything from the registry. Many items were not available for shipping, and just as many were not available in any stores within 25 miles of me. We wanted two feeder seats and this store only had one. One of the men working there told me to meet him at the front of the store by the computer so he could look up other stores who may have more in stock. I walked up to the front of the store and waited ten minutes but he didn’t reappear. I was then helped by a woman and explained what I wanted once again. She looked up other stores who may have the seat. Two other stores had it, but both are over 25 miles away. I don’t want to drive all over the area with 6 week old twins in tow so I asked about having it sent to the Naperville store. She looked very disinterested and said it would take a month. I don’t plan on feeding the boys in the feeder seat right away, so I said that would be fine, to which she gave me a long, drawn-​out saga about the store having to wait for the truck to have space to take it to a warehouse and then for another truck to have space to bring it to Naperville, and there was a) no guarantee how long that would take, and b) no guarantee that it would arrive in good condition. Seriously? Isn’t that their job? I decided I would have to drive to one of the other stores to pick another one up, and asked if I would still be able to get the twin discount. Of course… all I would have to do would be to lug the one chair I had just bought to the other store, return it there, and buy two of theirs… if they had two. Ugh.
I also wanted to pick up a baby monitor. They didn’t have it in the store, and apparently no other stores in the area did either. And it wasn’t available for an online purchase. And she wasn’t giving me any information about how I could get it, and why they advertised it but didn’t actually sell it. Especially when I had added it to my registry. I suppose I could have gone through every item I was adding, entered zip codes, and made sure it was available in areas my friends live in. I didn’t.
Finally, I wanted a Lamaze motion gym. I had looked in store and couldn’t see it and asked her to look it up for me. She sighed, but did so. They had two in store. Yes! I almost jumped for joy, until she followed that with, «However, that’s no guarantee it’s actually in our inventory.» Huh? She didn’t offer to look for me and I was so annoyed by this point that I didn’t ask. I took store credit for the item I had returned but now find that I want to shop for my items elsewhere.
Not a good experience. If I have any more children I’ll be registering elsewhere.

I am a new father who has spent a few thousand dollars at Babies R Us. I have shopped at the store located on Route 59 in Naperville, Illinois. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly so often! Each and every time I have entered that store I have been greeted by inconsiderate and terribly rude associates. When I have asked a question, I have been snapped at on more than one occasion. The older lady who seems to continuously be at the gift registry counter has been very rude on more than one occasion– when I did my registry and when I tried pulling up the registry of two of my friends. Ordinarily I would think this was a fluke, but after returning to the store today I was snapped at when I asked a question as I completed my purchase. I also was treated very poorly by a costumer service representative when I called numerous times about a crib I was buying for in store pick up.
I will NEVER return to Babies R Us. I will tell my friends who are expecting about the poor customer service provided both in store and on the phone. Again, I have never been treated so poorly so consistently.

I can easily find what I come for. They have amazing service and sales. This is where I got my Quinny Buzz 3 for only $ 100 (floor model).

I think this store can be overwhelming, especially for a first time mom, and help us all, a dad.
They do supply wrapping paper, tape would have been REALLY nice, but, of course, the paper does not fit the odd shaped box. I became totally frustrated trying to wrap this huge box.
I learned my lesson. Any time after that, if a mom was registered at Babies R Us, I shopped on line. I was spared trying to locate any of the items on the list in the store, which has no logical organization. Oh, and don’t forget how long you have to wait to get a copy of that list if you are in the store.
Stay home, shop on line, and save yourself the aggravation.

I used to consider this place «meh». Recent experiences have turned me off, however. They were extremely rude and unprofessional to my wife and I on a recent visit. They’d announced a bottle exchange program wherein you could bring in old potentially unsafe «BPA» bottles and receive a credit/​exchange for newer bottles. My wife called in to verify this program, and was told the details. When arriving a week or two later, the staff curtly informed her that «we don’t do that anymore». She asked to talk to the manager who simply said «I can’t do ANYTHING to help you».
Really?
Saying one thing and then doing another is part of the problem here, but the lousy delivery and interaction style iced the cake.
The SOLE reason to visit a brick-​and-​mortar retail store (as opposed to shopping online) these days is to get quality personal service. Looks like we’ve found another category that’s been completely replaced by

Ok, I have lots of kids, so you think I would like this store. NO! How much baby stuff do you really need? Does it really matter what color the stroller is? Nobody can figure out if it’s a boy or girl at first anyway. You can get the basics that you need at Target or WalMart. This place is full of those things that parents think they need, but can really do without.
Do you know what sensory overload is? You get it when you walk in here. They have every imaginable baby gadget you can think of and then some. Many of them require batteries. You want a mobile for your baby’s crib? They have TONS of them!
My main problem with this place is when you have to make a return. My experience has been that it depends on the employee you get when you go in there. Some are more liberal than others. Some you need to walk over to the department, take the item off the shelf and bring it back to customer service and show them that yes, they do carry the item contrary to the computer.
This is pretty much a necessary evil if you want to get an expensive stroller, a certain type of pacifier or some other specialty item. If you can make it with just the basics, head to Target!
