Bull & Bear Naperville

One of my favorite places to go and hang out. They have a fantastic stock of cigars. I love pipes. Rally and Frank’s Choice are my go to blends. The staff is helpful and kind. They constantly engage in conversations with you or let you sit and do work if you need to.
If you love cigars and hate cold weather, go buy a cigar and hang out in their lounge. I’ve been to a lot of lounges, but this one is my favorite!

Come here often, will come back again! Guys are friendly and fun, prices are reasonable considering you are in Illinois … Selection is average for a cigar shop, but it’s not a big place so for what they can handle they do really well. Comfortable place to hang out and smoke and if there’s people there and things going on they always stay open later.

Lack of customer service and overall attitude from help staff was lousy. Did not feel welcomed nor did they appreciate the business. Will never set foot here again

I travel frequently in general areas, but not always to the city, so I like to keep track of as many good cigar shops as I can so I don’t have to go too far out of my way to get a good stogie. I stopped in at Bull & Bear to see about picking up an emergency cutter, and a spare stogie. The location in downtown Naperville is convenient only if Naperville is your destination: parking is difficult! The cigar selection was okay, but I think the guy running the register has watched «The Fugitive» too many times, and aspires to be a cliched Chicagoan. Hey pal, I’ve been snubbed in better joints dan dis, so yous can keep yours snoot! There are too many good cigar shops to visit this one again.

Went in today to get some advice about a pipe. The guy wouldn’t even look at it. He told me to go online and figure it out. I will be buying all of my cigars and pipe tobacco from The Humidor in Westmont exclusively. Horrible customer service.

Can’t speak to the purchase made but boyfriend and a group of friends went and had a very RACIALLY and HOMOPHOBIC driven experience!!!
Mind you we have multiple people with degrees from Bachelor’s to doctorate degrees in the group that night. The people in the group know how to act but apparently the employee did not. I say this because everyone in the group that night was not dressed inappropriate or loitering-​they all made a purchase and we went out for my birthday, it was not a group of out of control newly turned 21yr olds.
Apparently the police walked in the check things out (seems to be a normal check in since the did the same at the bar) and walked out when they were done. According to my boyfriend they were having a good time smoking and talking crap to each other joking around. The worker literally started crap with the group by letting them know there are 4 people who have conceal and carry… excuse me?! Why would he need to let the group know?! Not sure if he thought the group was talking about the police but my boyfriend even let him know if he did think that, the group would be stupid for being disrespectful to the police. All of a sudden they were told the shop was closing but no one else in the shop was told to leave. They said fine and decided to go outside and finish their cigars.
A few minutes later a guy from the shop decided to dump ashes out right next to the group and proceeds to ask if my friend has a problem. So of course an argument begins because they are obviously picking on the group for whatever reason. The worker asks my friend if he is a Caitlyn and takes it up the a**!!! Are you kidding me!!!
As an employee of the establishment there is a way you behave professionally and he obviously needs to be fired!
When a group comes in and spends well over $ 100 they are expecting the same respect as someone who purchased $ 5 or $ 1000. The manager or owner (not sure) was their and did nothing!!!

This place is AWESOME! Being from Atlanta the directions were spot on and the staff was extremely helpful. This is a must stop shop.

I was charged $ 40 for 5 Punch Elites, which are $ 3.95 apiece at Binny’s. The new owner is cold, I preferred the previous owner and ambiance greatly to this «boy’s club». I’m sorry to see the old place go, but it’s The Cigar Leaf and Binny’s for me from here on out.
Good selection if you want something hard to find.

I found Bull and Bear based on a google search and I was not disappointed. I was greeted by an inviting staff who immediately made suggestions that were spot on for the type cigar that I was looking for. The location is also great because it is in the heart of downtown Naperville which makes for a great area to enjoy a post stogie drink. A wide variety of cigars, a accommodating staff, big screen tvs and a hopping surrounding area makes for a great night. Also, I would recommend the Camacho red for a mid grade, favorable cigar and cost value cigar.

Great cigar shop with a HUGE selection. I don’t know much (okay, okay, I don’t know anything) about cigars but one of the owners (Matt, I think) helped me pick out some cool gifts for a friend who likes smokey treats. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in need of some stogies.

Under new ownership, definitely an enjoyable cigar experience, a great place to enjoy a cigar after dinner.

I went to the grand opening with friends and the new owners were very welcoming. There was plenty of seating including comfortable leather chairs.
I went again on a week day and had good customer service from the gentleman working. Good prices too.
I love being in downtown Naperville and will definitely stop here often.

Can I say that reading the older posts goes to show that a business can change — Because for me this was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. I walked in there and was assisted by the husband, and co-​proprietor, Steve and could not have been happier.
Yesterday I woke up and wanted a different experience with my previous habit of cigar smoking — so I decided to try pipe smoking. I got his undivided attention for 30 minutes and he gave me gobs of information. From tobacco packing, tobacco cuts, cleaning and caring for my two new pipes… PLUS I couldn’t have enjoyed the other patrons who joined me in their welcoming lounge!
I thought their selection of pipes was BEYOND the very few others anywhere close to this place and can say it was bountiful from the cheap end all the way to the expensive upper class end.
I will look forward to going back today and enjoying some more laughs and knowledge as it is the day this place celebrates International Pipe Smoking day (instead of ²⁄₂₀)!!

Decent shop. Good selection. Average prices.
Nothing great. Nothing terrible.
If you need a cigar and a place to smoke it, this place is adequate. I did not encounter anything that resembled a personality or a reason to go out of my way.

Good selection, reasonable pricing but everything else left a lot to be desired.
The guy who was running the place seemed to be interested in everything except his job. It’s a shame, the Bull & Bear is a beautiful place equipped with lots of well stocked humidors, a beautiful smoking lounge and a nice location.
The bottom line: I stopped by, got ignored, bought a few sticks and left. Unless I’m stuck in Naperville and my humidor is empty, I doubt if I will return.

I love the cigar selection. They usually have several of my favorites to choose from, so I am never without a delicious smoke.

I love this palce. The owner, Zee as she’s known, is one of the nicest, and best business owners you’ll ever meet.
They have a great area for sitting around, shooting the shit, and smoking a stogy. There aren’t many places like this left in the world, and they’re a real gem when you find them.
Also, they usually have a cigar event once/​month that for $ 20 you get a great new cigar to try, great food, great drinks, and they give away prizes! The best part is that you get to ca vetch about things like stocks and sports teams with a bunch of old men!
And to Joe W., I’m not an avid pipe smoker, but they do in fact have pipe accessories, and tobacco besides the aromatic blends that are measured in bulk.
Highly highly reccomended!

Bull & Bear is probably one of the best stocked cigar shops I have ever seen – but for me, a pipe smoker, it left a lot to be desired.
Their pipe selection is pretty small, as are their pipe tobaccos. They only have aromatic blends on hand in bulk measurable containers. They did seem to have the basic pipe accessories such as pipe cleaners and Czech tools, but no stands or holders. I could not figure out the manufacturer of their pipes, even after I asked the store associate, so I am not sure what brands they are.
Granted – they bill themselves as a cigar shop – and for that they seem to have an outstanding collection. Just keep in mind if you’re a pipe smoker, it’s probably best to search elsewhere or call ahead if you’re looking for something in particular. With that said – I do hope they expand their pipe collection and pipe tobaccos in the future!
