History

Established in 2010.

Hana Hou Hula Productions was established in the summer of 2010 in Naperville, Illinois. Professional luau entertainment was the first offering and turned out to be a very successful one. In the fall of 2010, the company expanded to include classes for girls, boys, and teens. By December, enrollment had doubled and Hana Hou Hula Productions offered their first recital. At the beginning of 2014, the company shifted it’s focus from entertainment to teaching and spreading the Aloha Spirit through the art of hula. Hana Hou Hula Productions now offers classes for all ages: toddlers, girls, boys, teens, and adults. Classes are currently located at the Naperville library on 95th Street.

Meet the Business Owner

Wendy T.

Business Owner

Wendy was born and raised in Aiea, Hawaii and has been dancing hula for over 25 years. She relocated to the Chicago area in August 2009. Wendy started dancing hula competitively at the age of four with Halau Hula Olana, lead by Olana Ai.

Wendy attended Punahou School and assumed the very exclusive role of Holoku Pageant director. The Holoku Pageant is the only student run Hula and Polynesian dance recital of its kind in the State and Nation. At Cornell University, Wendy was successful in reviving the Hawaii Club and putting together sellout luau shows every year.

Wendy has taught the hula in many different states and is now the owner of Hana Hou Hula Productions in Naperville. She also sits on the board of the Hula Association of the Midwest, whose purpose is to spread the Aloha spirit and build Hawaiian cultural awareness in the Midwest.
