I stopped going there. They have too much expired stuff on shelves. I don’t like checking the date on every single item I want to buy.

Jalaram Plaza meets the needs that we have to buy foods from that southern/central to south/east region of Asia. We’ve always found what we needed for chilli powder, chutneys, curry pastes, dry curry mixes, snacks, sweets, mango pulp, shampoo, soaps, and juices. They have a lot of frozen, ready to eat meals. Rice is one of their best items, carrying multiple brands, types, and weights. They accept credit cards. They are also next door to Spicy Sizzlers, which has nice, spicy hot samosas, some innovative rolls, and a simple sitting area. The staff of Jalaram Plaza are always helpful when we ask for assistance.

As an Indian family we do indian food grocery shopping at-least once a week and we started at Jalaram after getting tired of overpriced spice mart. Prices at Jalaram looked alrite. They are comparable to any other Indian grocery store if not less. Biggest attraction here are the ‘samosas’. They are available on saturday an Sundays, 75 cents a piece and absolute tasteful. I found the quality and variety of stuff as fine and comparable to other grocery stores. I am also satisfied with the variety of stuff available here, be its pulses or rice or aatta or snacks selection or frozen food, I got almost everything whatever I was looking for… Biggest reason I go to Jalaram is first it display the price of all items properly and moreover in the receipt u get to know how much u paid for what!(I know this is something we take for granted at most places but not at Indian grocery stores) . Quality wise most grocery stores are same as they source same stuff from same vendors. Transparency is where Jalaram scores its winning point for me plus offcourse it’s close to my place :).

Extensive frozen Indian selection, including prepared food and frozen vegies and some things I’ve never seen before(frozen cubed paneer). Large spice mix selection and lots of ready-to-eat Indian meals from the three major brands. Mangoes by the case and homemade samosa and 2 other fried spicy things available up front, together with fresh Indian bread. Grand opening was in May 2010.
