Killer Cuts

I would recommend this salon to everyone. All of the stylists are very experienced and take their time with each client. The prices are a great value given the care/​time/​quality that the stylists put into each cut. The atmosphere and vibe is great as well making it easy to feel comfortable and relaxed. Kristy is extremely talented and I will continue to book appts with her in the future!

This review is long overdue!!! I love this place!
All the hairdressers are extremely friendly. You know someplace when you go and awkward conversations is ensured? Not here, it was a fun environment, upbeat and pretty funny. They remember details about their clients as well. This is a place where you just show up, get your haircut and leave without any conversation or interaction. I felt they went out of their way to make people happy.
On top of all this, I’ve been extremely happy with my haircut both times I went. Once I got it colored, and I did love the color as well. I’m not the type to come in with a precise haircut or picky with what I want done. I like trying new styles, and at first my shoulder length hair went from a pixie haircut with one half shaved. I will have to say this is the hairstyle that I have kept around the longest.
I highly recommend this place, the price is extremely reasonable given other salons. My experience is with Kristy, and she does a fantastic job. Don’t be deterred thinking its only salon for men. At the end of the day, these hairdressers know what they are doing and doing it well.

Stopped by for a quick haircut, the stylist Andrea was super nice and they had good music playing.
Very pleased with the whole experience, no pressure and no hassles. Its not the cheapest cut in town but they don’t rush you like some of the other places.
Will definitely go back there again.

So I got a follow-​up email from Glen the owner of Killer Cuts telling me about my inaction about returning to the saloon for an, «Oops, we screwed up please give us another chance» haircut and that he’d have to tell the public, «His side of the story.»
However, when I did call, over the course of day, no one answered the phone. I took this as a sign not to return. The excuse was that they’re busy and the focus is on the haircuts taking place but I took it as not caring about the new/​returning customer that had their haircut botched. Anyway, Glen proceeds to correct my post by citing that, «Acetone doesn’t have a smell…» and then proceeds to tell about all of the new cool stuff the saloon does have like, um, no more smelly products i.e. nail services as well as a proper way to tip hairdressers.
Here is a site (and article) that discusses the various smells that nail polish and nail polish removers produce just in case. Oh, but don’t worry, they don’t do nails anymore.
Why does nail polish smell so strong?
Nail polish contains several ingredients that give it its strong odor.
Some of those ingredients are the solvents used to keep the plastic liquid until it dries on your toenails. Butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, and toluene are examples. Butyl acetate gives bananas their smell, and is used to flavor candies.
Ethyl acetate is another similar ester that smells like pears. When these two molecules are present in huge amounts, they can have a very strong odor.
Toluene is derived from petroleum, and give paint thinner its characteristic smell. It is also used as the fluid that fuels cigarette lighters.
Nail polish may also include camphor, a strong smelling molecule that is used to keep the plastic flexible. Camphor is now made synthetically, but it is found in the camphor laurel tree that grows in China and Borneo. It is sometimes used as a moth repellent (the tree probably produced it as an insecticide). It give Vicks VapoRub its strong scent.
Nail polish remover also has an interesting smell. It is mostly acetone, a strong organic solvent that is good at dissolving many plastics, glues, and paints.

I got my hair cut by Kristy a few days ago and I love it! Kristy was very friendly and listened to exactly what I wanted. I have wavy hair and the cut looks great wavy or straight! I definitely recommend this place. Thanks Kristy!

Kristy at Killer Cuts is AMAZING!!! She is the only person I trust with my hair, and is a true hair artist. Every time I go in there I am confident that she will do an amazing job. She has been doing my hair for 9 years now, and has earned her title «Master Stylist.» Not only do I walk out of the salon feeling fresh and sexy, but ALWAYS with a smile. Walked in on a weekend without a reservation and was expecting to be waiting a while but the stylists did a great job of working through customers in a prompt manner. After a 15 minute wait, I was in and out in a half hour. Very pleased with the environment and the cut, would definitely return.

I’ve spent the majority of my life in the city, so I’ve grown accustomed to some pretty high-​end hair salons. I used to frequent the Halo in the Loop, but now that my job has been relocated to the western burbs, I was in need of a new place to get my hair done. I needed a cut pronto for an important meeting, so I gave Killer Cuts a shot as it was convenient and on my way to where my business luncheon was. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the brick walls are definitely a nice touch. My stylist Alyssa did a great job with the cut, you could tell she has been doing this for a while. She made me feel extremely comfortable during the cut, so I will definitely be asking for her on my next trip in. They offer other services as well like massages, but since I was in a bit of a rush, I passed. The bonus on top is that I got a few compliments later that day on my new haircut, so I’ll definitely be coming back for my next cut. If you’re in the Naperville area and looking for a good cut without breaking the bank, give this place a shot.

Found out by accident that they offer manicures and pedicures and full nail services. I love going for this because it’s never crowded. Only downside is they need to put some heaters and as it is exceptionally cold in the winter… Kind of hard to want to put your head under water or your feet in water when you’re freezing… But I got manicure and pedicures there as well as eyebrow waxing and they did an excellent job!
