Moser Tower & Millennium Carillon

One of the best places to live in the US do to schools, highways, and access to a world-​class city, Shy Town!

This was awesome! It was well worth the $ 3 fee and the climb to the top. At least on the day we visited, it was locked. We found our way to the little visitor’s center next door, and paid $ 3 for a tour. Info given was short and sweet, but that was fine by us. It was really interesting to see the bells, some of which are massive, and to see the clavier playing.
Amazing view from the top, but a little scary for those afraid of heights (13 stories)! It was a clear day, and we could see the Chicago skyline, 40 miles away or so.
Don’t fear the climb to the top. You can take an elevator halfway there. I am out of shape, and easily made it the rest of the way to the top.
Just do it!

Climbing up the Moser Tower has been on my Naperville bucket list since I moved here about two years ago. When I first got here, I couldn’t go up because I had injured my back. Last year I had a broken ankle. So this year I was determined not to let anything stop me!
It’s a little confusing to figure out how to get in, because there’s a very inviting staircase entrance up to the front door, which is locked. Around back, tucked away, is a little visitor information center where you can purchase tickets. Every half hour (during open season, May through October) a tour leaves from there and then you can walk into the tower!
The price is extremely reasonable, $ 3 per person, and the sign says kids under 4 are free. The tour guide gives information on each landing on the way up about the carillon bells and other interesting facts about the tower.
I was lucky go to on a very gorgeous day (today), almost no clouds, no haziness, perfect fresh, crisp weather, no humidity. I could see the Chicago skyline from the top, notably the Sears Tower. So cool! My friends and I also happened to go to the 3:30 tour, which meant that by the time we were finished, we could sit back and listen to the 4:00 carillon recital.
Definitely recommended for anybody who lives in Naperville, or who’s up for a cool Naperville experience.

We were recently married at the Millennium Carillon in Naperville and hosted our small reception at the Visitors Center next door. It was such an amazing and memorable experience! I would highly recommend this location to host your small wedding or event.
From the beginning the Naperville park district team, including the Fred Gusel and Kelli Stempien, were incredibly helpful and easy to work with.
This is a great venue for any event up to 50 people (we had 45 guests, including children). We had an appetizer style dinner which was perfect for this location. The event went exactly as planned with the help of the park district. A special thank you to Katie and Samantha, who were at the location during our ceremony and throughout the evening, they regularly checked in with us to ensure we had everything we needed and made us and our guests feel welcome. They also recommended we bring lights and music for the patio area, the lights brightened up the outside and our guests had so much fun being outside next to the river on such a beautiful summer evening.
Tim Sleep, the Carillon player, was also very helpful, and the music was beautiful.

This one time, swear to god, I saw a freaking Egyptian scarab crawling on this tower.
It was the seriously the size of my fist and pretty much the highlight of my whole summer.
I’ll never forget that crazy beetle. It made coming to this weird-​ass tower almost as entertaining as a trip to the zoo. Okay, not quite, but it was unexpected surprise and something I’d never seen before outside of that Mummy movie staring Brendan Fraser… or, George of the Jungle, as he’s better known around my household.
This bell tower is pretty cool. For a semi-​nominal fee you can take a tour to the top and learn about it. I’m cheap, so I’ve never splurged and done the full guided thing, but I can’t imagine there’s *that* much to it. I mean, the thing is only a few years old so it’s not like there’s a ton of historical things that could have happened.
They have weekly «concerts» at the bell tower during the summer, so you can bring a blanket, frisbee, picnic supplies and enjoy the free tunes on the hilly lawn. In winter, it’s pretty much only good for telling time (chimes on the hour) and just staring or throwing snowballs at.
It’s a fine place and it looks really cool and spooky, but for whatever reason, it always seems to be under construction, which seems odd but whatever. At least the town is putting some upkeep into its landmarks.

This is worth a visit. Buy tickets at a small limestone building near the base of the tower and read about the history of the carillon while you wait for your tour group. Then be prepared to climb stairs (an elevator will take you part of the way up) and learn about the bells, and if you time it right, see and hear them in action.
We learned that the the largest bell in the tower weighs almost 6 tons. There are 72 bronze bells total. According to the tour, this carillon is one of only four worldwide that spans six octaves. The bells are played by being struck rather than rocking. Many of the bells are engraved with names of people and businesses who helped fund their purchase.
From the top of the tower there’s a fine view of Naperville, the swimming quarry, the steeple of Sts. Peter and Paul, and other area landmarks.

The music generated by the carillon and the tour given by the visitors center staff both get 5 stars. I shall keep my judgments of the aesthetics of Moser Tower to myself :)
I was very impressed with how knowledgeable the tour guide was of the tower and the carillon. It’s one of only 9 grand carillons (grand meaning a 6 or more octave range) in the world, which is truly impressive. The tours are approximately half an hour, $ 3 per person (over 5 years old), and totally worth it. The view from the top is worth the walk up, you can take an elevator half way up if you’d like. Even on a not so clear day we could see Chicago.
It was interesting to see the bells and the clavier. During most concerts there is a closed circuit television set up in front of the tower with a feed from the clavier room showing the carillon players.
Definitely worth the time and a few bucks to check out the inside of the tower. Of course just listening to a concert from the park below is worth the time too.
