My appointment for an estimate for siding was also rescheduled due to a
«sick» employee. When they did come out (nice guy), we received an estimate for Hardie Board cement board siding, not for the vinyl siding we originally requested. When asked about the cost of their vinyl siding, the rep said to discount the Hardie Board estimate by about 30%…they are obviously trying to push the higher-​priced product. And their financing rates were at least double of other contractors from whom we received quotes/​estimates. Either way, their prices were MUCH higher that the other estimates we received… and from contractors who have done work for our neighbors who were extremely satisfied. Seem like nice people, but shop around… they are way overpriced for this area.

Took time off of work and was a no show no call Was a costly day for me with nothing to show for it. They pay so much attention to you before he estimate was quite annoying but no follow up after a no show no call. Not my kind of business I want to work with

Let’s just say I had to hire someone after Opal was done to fix the issues left behind that they refused to resolve.

I contact Opal in mid-​October of 2015 to see if they’d like to come out for an estimate on two windows. I was greeted with a pleasant staff member who spent a bit too long going through some details that weren’t much concern to me. That said, they have very pleasant staff!
I had an appointment for a gentleman to come out and give an estimate. On the day of the appointment, Opal called and had to cancel. They indicated their salesperson was «sick», but hoped to reschedule for a few days later.
We had an appointment set for a few days later and Kate came out. Opal’s process is a bit intrusive. This isn’t the fault of the salesperson. Honestly, if I didn’t have an overall bad experience, I would have just been mildly annoyed, but not complaining. Essentially, they spend 10 – 12 minutes interviewing you with questions to help their marketing (Why did you look for a home in Naperville, what factors influenced your decision to purchase, etc.). When (:) they politely respond to this, they’ll say it is to serve their customers better. Kate then took about 45 minutes surveying the two windows. Pretty standard.
Kate told me they have to visit again to provide the estimate. Again, not the fault of the salesperson. That said, this «tactic» (and please, it is a tactic, don’t even argue) is frustrating to me. I’m busy. I don’t want you to come out again so you can leverage the sale to its fullest (I don’t imagine they use high pressure– just that friendly salesperson there again asking for your business). Service providers that require this are a waste of time to the consumer.
We had another appointment set for the following Wednesday (1 week away). On Wednesday, Kate & I spoke 4 (!) times. Again, who has time for this? First she called to say she’s sick (is this typical with their employees? Come on– I own a business and know how often people are sick overall). She wanted to reschedule. I was out of town the following days AND I took on another appointment from a separate contractor (separate job) that day knowing I needed to get home somewhat early. She agreed to keep the appointment. She called later, I didn’t answer. She called again and I left a meeting to answer. She told me she’d have to check with her «guys» to see if they’d install only 2 windows. This fact was known when I made the first call– this was not new. I was explicit about this (thinking they might not be interested in coming out). At this point she said the quote should be around $ 3200 (I had previously stated I had a quote from Four Seasons at $ 2800). I told her this was ok– I’d prefer to do business with Opal. Kate called a 4^th time to tell me she’d have to cancel the appointment. She said the installers told her they «thought» one of my windows was a «picture window» and they couldn’t do my work.
My synopsis:
They wasted my time… on the phone initially, at my home, and later with the back & forth calls.
Secondly, we’ve had quotes from them before. They MIGHT (?) have better quality, but the two quotes we’ve received (gutters and windows) were the highest of any vendor.
My recommendation: If you want to spend a bit more to speak with pleasant people (they are all very pleasant– great manners, well spoken), do business with Opal. This way, their higher prices and lies won’t sting as much as others!
Oh… and please (!) do not call me to discuss. I’ve received this call before (we’ll discount $ 150 off your purchase… «Oh, and would you consider modifying your review based on subsequent experiences?»
I can’t wait to see Tara’s response. These business owners make me sick with their canned responses: «Please view our other 25 ‘shining reviews’», or whatever angle she’ll try to spin in response to a honestly bad experience.

We signed a roofing contract with Opal Enterprises (material and labor) for a new residential construction to put on roofing shingles and a copper canopy plus flashing. The plan was to put on roofing shingles first, then copper canopy and flashing at a to be determined later date — after bricks walls are installed,
Day one when the roofing work began, roofing material was delivered to the job site and the roofing crew quickly put up shingles and completed them in four days — Opal was paid 87% of the contract price a few weeks later. While my site manager was cleaning up the construction site a week and half after the roofing shingles were done, he discovered what he initially thought garbage (plastic wraps) turned out to be copper sheets that supposedly be used for a copper canopy and flashing — at a later date. In a good faith effort, my site manager and I brought the material inside for temporary safe keep — before they were picked up by Opal. Joe the project manager from Opal called my site manager a couple of days later looking for their copper sheets, the site manager informed Joe that we moved copper sheets inside for safe keep and instructed Joe to come and pick them up. Days later Opal called my site manager again claiming they did not find the copper material, site manager gave Opal the location of the copper sheets and asked them again (for the second time) to pick them up.
While waiting to have copper canopy and flashing installed at a later date, I noticed the newly shingled roof had lots leaks after a heavy rain, I called Opal and report the leaks. The office person stated that Opal will take care the leaks at a (same) time when copper canopy and flashing is to installed.
Fast forward to the day of copper canopy and flashing installation (2+ months after shingles were installed), 2 guys from Opal showed up and asked for copper — no copper was found at the jobs site. My site manager thought Opal must have picked them up awhile back if they were not at the job site — he instructed me to check with Opal’s office. I immediately called and asked about the copper sheets, the office replied «you have the copper sheets». At this point I thought that there were office mis-​communications and someone from Opal already picked them up without letting the office know. After I explained that the site manager instructed Opal twice nearly two months ago to pick them up and since there was no copper on site, Opal must have picked them up previously. The person on the phone replied «no we don’t have the copper and you have them», At this point it was apparent that the copper was stolen.
Three says later, I received a call from Opal office stating it was my responsibility to safe keep the (now stolen) copper roofing material. After explained repeatedly to Opal office on the phone that the contract was for Opal to supply both material and labor for the work, and my site manager and I made a good faith effort to temporary safeguard by moving the material from outside in plain view to the inside when the material was abandoned by Opal. Additionally, I mentioned that my site manager asked Opal not once but twice to pick up the copper material. I further stated that neither the site manager nor I could be held responsible of safe guarding Opal roofing material at the construction site 24×7. The office person stated that the owner of the company will call to discuss this issue.
More than a week went by and while the shingled roof leaks in many places — no call from Opal. I called and asked to speak to the owner Voytek Opalski. Mr. Opalski got on the phone and started to blame me for the missing copper material — after I explained to him that the copper material should never have delivered to the site on day one when Opal knew copper was not needed until much later, furthermore, his office was twice told to pick up the material. Mr. Opalski’s answer was «no, we never found the copper and you were responsible». I repeated again that we (site manager and I) could not be held responsible to safeguard any subcontractors’ material. This was when Mr. Opalski announced that he will not perform the reminder of the contracted roofing work and under his attorney’s advice that he will bill me for (his) stolen material.
Mr. Opalski’s breach of a legally binding contract and his refusal to honor the terms of the contract, our construction project is held up by leaky roof where no other work can be performed until the roof is fixed.
This is my experience in dealing with Opal Enterprises of Naperville, in particular its owner Mr. Voytek Opalski — Buyers Beware.

We used Opal for a recent home rennovation project. Windows, siding, roof, and gutters. I did research and chose them based on good reviews rather than going with a storm chaser that was knocking on our door. Without boring you with every last detail of everything that went wrong, let me just tell you to save yourself the energy and go elsewhere! By the end, all the problems we had were just laughable. We were so ready to be done with them it wasn’t even funny. Nobody at the office wants to take responsibility for anything. I even requested the owner of the company to call me because they needed to know how bad things were going for us and they never did call. I wasn’t surprised. I should have kept a word document of all the things that went wrong.

We contracted Opal to do a small repair to some siding and part of the soffet that had fallen off of our house due to some high winds. They were very responsive to our requests and the repairs were done in a timely manner and look great. We would definitely contact Opal again for future siding repairs or replacement.
