Let me start by saying I am a lover of ALL buffets and it would take alot for me to not like a buffet. We arrived about 815pm on a Tuesday night and half of the sushi was gone and about half of the food was gone as well. We asked 5 different people if they were making more sushi but no one spoke English. So we sat down with our picked over plates of buffet food and All of the food was cold or semi warm and almost all of it was either hard or stale. My wife takes a bite out of her sushi roll and chews it for a minute then pulls a 4 inch piece of plastic wrap out of her mouth that the«cook» had left in the sushi roll. The manager offered to «take care us» by giving us 15% off of our bill. about 10 minutes later i took my daughter to the bathroom and observed the only two servers in the restaurant cleaning both bathrooms. Our server had a toilet brush in her hand without gloves and was scrubbing away at the toilet. When we got back to our table our waitress/server who was just busy scrubbing the stale turds off of the toilets delivered our hot plates of crab legs. I must say the crab legs were the only half decent part about this restaurant once we were able to stomach that our server was also the janitor. My 4 year old daughter finally decided she was hungry and started eating the sweet and sour chicken and could not chew the chicken as it was rock hard. i took a piece and tried it as well and it was ROCKHARD my damn dog would of refused this garbage. Bottom line is stay the hell away from this dump. I cant believe or understand why this place has closed down and reopened 4 times now. this is a dump that is better left closed… Oh and the real kicker is when we were getting ready to leave they were wrapping all of this terrible food up to serve it again tomorrow! buon appetito my friends!

CLOSED, don’t know when. Big DuPage Dept of Health sticker placed on the front door. This location seems to be cursed if one believes in such nonsense. Am unable to give zero stars.

If I could give this place no stars, I certainly would. The food was awful in and of itself, but being that this is a buffet I set the bar a little lower than for most restaurants. It’s the aftermath, though, that inspired me to write these not so kind words about this place. If you want to spend the majority of your night sitting on the toilet regretting your decision to eat at a recently reopened(but obviously not improved) Chinese buffet, then you’ll have a blast at the Royal buffet. If you care even a little about your stomach, toilet, and anyone you share a bathroom with, skip this place and go get some real Chinese food elsewhere(I personally suggest Jin 28).

Not so good. Selections soso, sushi was terrible. Crab legs were an extra charge. Even the ice cream was old tasting. Not coming back ever.

I’ve never been more disgusted by this place, Ill tell you why. We walk in there a Sunday ad in the front window for 13.99. I assumed weekdays would be cheaper. So we were sat down by a server, looked around and all we saw was empty chairs, a few tables of orient decent only. Granted it was dinner time, 5:30 approx. My husband and I got a plate at the far left to start the buffet and looked at dish after dish, it was eel, Full steamed crab with eye balls looking right at you, Several displayed items of sushi; fried chicken feet. Very few items were labeled. The very far right was a small area for Americans and that we were familiar with. Picked up egg roll, lo mein, fried rice and maybe it was honey chicken. Took a bite out of the egg roll, it was gummy and Luke warm. Next tried the lo mein. Whoa, grease fest. I think that was the oiliest lo mien Ive ever tried, not to mention bland. Looked at my husband in disgust, he was experiencing the same thing. Last try, took a bite out of the honey chicken. Glaze was okay, after chewing for a few minutes I was picking out stringy chicken of my mouth. Asked my hubby, «what is this»? So I cut the chicken piece in half and noticed how dark the meat was, defiantly not a breast, perhaps not chicken either. Dumped the whole buffet idea and went over to the hibachi area. It looked good, I can see what I was eating. Picked up chicken, rib-eye, and veggies. Took my plate over to the cook, windows were half cleaned, layered with grease, the grill looked semi-cleaned. My hubby basically got the same dish, teryiaki or soy for the glaze. This was better than the buffet. I was looking forward to the rib-eye, I noticed how tough it was, my hubby says ‘Oh my steak is so tender’ I handed him a piece of mine and realized I had sirloin and he had rib-eye. So basically, they cheapened they’re foods by mixing rib-eye and sirloin to save costs. How LOW! For how slow it was, staff was extremely lazy. Everyone was standing around. At least Clean your dump! Btw, the servers said not one word to us the whole time except for, what do you want to drink? We left with a hefty bill for 33 $. 2 buffets and 2 pops. I said as I saw the bill, 33 $? For what? We will never be back? Didn’t get any response but silence and a quick checkout. 4 bites of nasty food that cater to only Asian decent, but this was below average to poor restaurant anyways. Skip this one, don’t even bother!

If I could give it no stars I would! What a HUGE disappointment. Formerly Nagoya, So they advertise lobster — it is some sauce covered lobster claws that must have been from baby lobsters and no way to crack them. The other empty or near empty dishes were eventually replenished but many of the food items were mislabeled so you’ll have to guess what the dishes are. They had the manyl Chinese dishes you would find at a buffet — fried chicken, orange chicken, vegetable, mushrooms, noodles, fried rice, shrimp, chicken feet, pig ear, etc. The food was sub par to say the least. None of the good dishes Nagoya had — and I had a terrible stomach ache when I left. Maybe from something I ate and maybe because I was furious we just wasted $ 75. The dessert table offered lots of fruits and sweets. The ice cream bar is self serve and can get crowded. Many of the ice cream tubs were empty or near empty. One had multi-flavors in it probably from people not rinsing the scoop between flavors. EWWWW. I will never, ever go back to this place. Save your money.

If I could give this place negative stars I would!!! This place is awful!!! I am typing as I eat right now… No!!! I came here for dinner tonight and the sushi looks like something that has been left out all day. Me and my boyfriend was afraid to eat it. Next I decided to try the chow mein and it was going pretty good until I bite into a raw onion that was so raw I almost started crying! I tried the garlic bread that was sitting on a steamer. By the time I got to my table it was ice cold. I couldn’t even eat it. I tried the sticky rice and they were right, it was so sticky my own spit wouldn’t brake it up so I had to spit it out. Their yellow rice and yellow fried chicken had no flavor. The only thing I had that was actually ok was the dumpling but then I psyched myself out because it reminded me of cow balls. So I couldn’t finish eating it. Then there is the dessert. How the heck do you mess up coconut macaroons? But they did. Ok I don’t even want to waste my breath on this place. It was horrible. Go at your own risk but I won’t be back. Yuck

Ok this is one of those places you will find on your way to hell. No joke. Sushi that was on a serving plate was crusty and would probably gut you before you die of the food poisoning. $ 4.99 for a pound of crab legs? Seriously I seen crab legs that looked better at the dumpster behind a crack house in Phoenix in 120° heat. This crab looked like it had syphilis and was oozing puss out of its shell. And I don’t even want to mention rest of the garbage. So if you feel like eating out of garbage box and paying money for it, then please be my guest, I promise you it will be your last before entering gates of hell.

Drove by The Royal Hibachi Buffet a few weeks ago and it was closed, so I was surprised when I got my latest clipper magazine and they were open for business. I also heard many great things about the Royal Buffet up north so I was hoping this buffet would be like that one. On Sunday my boyfriend and I stopped in for a let lunch. They were not very busy which surprised me since they just opened. The person that seated us was friendly and our waitress came quick to take our drink order. We were then off to the buffet. The buffet is a nice size but I could tell the food that was out there wasn’t fresh. I decided to try the Sushi and Hibachi buffet on my first trip. OMG grease over load on the Hibachi… When I was done eating the bottom of my plate was all oil. Not just a little oil either it was a pool. Just nasty. The meat was also very low quality and extremely chewy. Just awful. The sushi was the same way. Very little fish in it and it was poor quality. I’m not expecting shinto sushi on a buffet but I wouldn’t feed this stuff to my dog it was really that bad. My boyfriends oysters were the same way over done and just poor quality. While I found the service here to be quite good the food is some of the worst I have had.

Tried this location 3x. Very disappointed in the quality and selection of food. Go to the one in Darien/Woodridge — much much better!

Royal buffet(hibachi, sushi, and seafood) has once again resurrected from the dead. If you’re curious about how the buffet is, you won’t want to miss the grand opening special 5⁄5 — 5⁄8 — 50% OFF! Breakfast Special from 7A-10A $ 5.25 M-F LUNCH11a-330p $ 7.99 Sat LUNCH11a-330p $ 8.99 M-Th Dinner 4p-930p $ 11.99 Fri & Sat Dinner 4p-10p $ 13.99 Sunday All Day 11a-930p $ 13.99 They also offer kids prices and buffet to go. I came for dinner and it was pretty packed. When I started getting my food, most of the food were gone. Sushi was hard to come by. As soon as the nigri is put out, someone would be waiting and take half the plateful or more. I did managed to snag some salmon nigri. Although thinly sliced, it was tasty. The other empty or near empty dishes were eventually replenished, but I was too full to go back to see what I’ve missed. Many of the food items were mislabeled so you’ll have to guess what the dishes are. They had the typical Chinese dishes you would find at a buffet — fried chicken, orange chicken, vegetable, mushrooms, noodles, fried rice, shrimp, chicken feet, pig ear, etc. For some reason, there seems to be a lot of kids when I was there throwing food back into the trays and sneezing on stuff. I guess that could be at any buffet. The dessert table offered lots of fruits and sweets. The ice cream bar is self serve and can get crowded. Many of the ice cream tubs were empty or near empty. One had multi-flavors in it probably from people not rinsing the scoop between flavors. Location: Formerly Nagoya, near BBB

Restaurant recently reopened. Haven’t been there so I have no clue if it’s as bad as it was previously before. Edit: It is now closed again. All the signs are gone and there is a for rent sign out front.

I am writing this 3 days after trying this buffet, curled in a ball in bed, ready to run into the bathroom any minute, as I have been the last day and a half. Needless to say, I did not have a positive experience here. Given that my parents love to discover all the new Asian buffets within a 30 mile radius, I was familiar with both Royals somewhat nearby and other competing buffets. The name misled me into thinking it was like the one in Hoffman Estates, but the logo is similar to its sister company Kobe just 2 Minutes down the road. The food and selection is not comparable to any of the Royals or Kobe. The selection is comparable to Osaka in Bolingbrook but not good. I Was very disappointed when I first got there and surveyed the selection and was even most disappointed in the taste and freshness. As a previous reviewer cited this buffet is very Americanized with very few seafood and authentic Asian dishes. Not much else to say except that I will not be returning.

Diners be aware!!! This Royal Buffet is NOT the same franchise owner as Woodridge nor Hoffman Estates, but a spin-off from Kobe Hibachi Sushi Buffet four blocks northeast. The cold dish, hot food, sushi & dessert varieties are definitely more appealing to Asians’ appetite than Osaka except no crabs. Service is quite good. Can’t beat it for $ 10.99 all-u-can-eat. I missed the azuki, green tea and taro ice cream which this China buffet joint does not offer, but not really a show stopper.
