Sudzy Puppy

My first time here today and had a wonderful experience and hopefully it will continue to be! Very welcoming service and is a small but professional place. My groomer was Joshua and he was cool and friendly and knew exactly what I wanted for my dog and delivered, plus love his cute and friendly dog.

I recently brought my maltese to Sudzy Puppy and they did an amazing job with my dog’s haircut. I’ve been to many places around Bartlett and Naperville, and finally we found a place that has well trained pet groomers who know what they are doing. My husband and I are very particular with the kind of haircut our dog gets, as it can make or break it’s cuteness. Sudzy Puppy definitely did a great job maintaining that. They were very accommodating. I called and schedule an appointment a day before. They are very professional and friendly. Rocky (Our Maltese Dog) felt very comfortable with them and thats a surprise as he is always shivering, shaking and constantly barking. That was definitely not the case this time around. See below for specifics on this place which I broke down in category.
1. Place/​Ambience: Small little shop down Ogden Rd, however, very neat and clean.
2. Staff: Can’t get any better with friendliness, kindness, and gentleness with the pets especially.
3. Price: VERY, VERY Reasonable. $ 45 is starting for small dogs (my maltese is 6lbs). This includes hair cut, teeth brushing, nail trim and buff, and release of external anal glands. If your pet has a lot of nat, they do up charge, but that is reasonable.
4. Accommodation: Flexible and prompt.
5. Professional/​Experience: The groomers definitely listen to what you are looking for and how you want the haircut to be. If you are unsure, the groomer who will be doing the haircut will suggest his/​her opinion. They definitely know what they are doing.
As you can tell from my review, Sudzy Puppy just got themselves another tiny little fuball to keep handsome. :)

I love this place. The prices are affordable. I love the way they treat my dog. I never feel bad leaving him there for a few hours. I feel like they are taking good care of him! They do a great job too! Other places are more money and they always cut his hair too short!

I have tried several places around town to take my little toy poodle and my mom’s toy poodle. This is by FAR the best place to go! This first time I ever went one of the owners (heather) had a cow when she saw my little peanut Lola. She thought she was the cutest thing and wouldn’t give her back to me (lol). Heather did an amazing job on Lola and we’ve been going back to sudzy puppy ever since! You can really tell they love dogs and love their job. I won’t go anywhere else!

I’ve always had a good experience at Sudzy Puppy. Snowball and Foxy (who has since passed away) always come home as cute as a button and with their tails wagging.

Wonderful and caring people that do a great job! I never worry about my pup when she is there. She always looks great when she comes home, and is happy. Always professional, always top notch!

Great local business and service… My puppy Mason loves it there and they do a great job!

I was a first time customer I went in hoping for good service from what I have read here on Unilocal and I got just that! The staff is very friendly and nice. They called me 15 minutes before my puppy was done which is more than I can say about other groomers. When I picked up my morkie she was beautiful. The cut was great she had a cute bow of feathers in her hair and she smelled so clean. However her nails were super sharp. When calling to ask if they could fix her nails I was told I could get a discount. When going in to get her nails fixed I was told that the groomer had made a mistake and not cut them before. They immediately owned up to their mistake fixed it apologized and did not make me pay. I will defiantly be a returning customer even though they made a mistake they owned up to it were nice friendly and apologized and fixed it. I would recommend this place to others! Thank you!

ANIMAL CRUELTY! Very disappointing in our grooming services. While consulting with the groomer at drop off. She was snarky and rude. I have a Great Prynese with long thick hair. She definitely took the lazy way out and shaved him from head to to because she didn’t want to spend the time and energy. He looks like a sheared sheep.
I told her the most important thing is I don’t want him shaved especially around his back-​end because he get so itchy and irritated. I was shocked when I went to pick him up. They did the exact opposite of what we talked about. They shaved his entire body and his back-​end even shorter to the skin. I have had him to many groomers and no one has ever done this to him. Even when we resuced him he was matted and when we got him back from another groomer he was beautiful! Animal cruelty! It’s been 6 days and my dog has been miserable ever since. He can’t even sit still to eat he’s so miserable. We have to scratch him so he can calm down and eat or drink. He hides and wines all day and night. I will never recommend Sudzy Puppy to anyone.

I was so impressed! When I arrived to pick up my boxer, she had her coat, harness and leash on. The price for grooming was fantastic; $ 35.00. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to tell my friends about this! This excitement though was short lived. Upon removing my dog’s harness, leash and coat I discovered a very large lump on her back near her spine. I was mortified! I called the groomer immediately, I begged them to be honest, but they were insistent nothing occurred. My vet thinks it is either a bug bite or a reaction to something?
Needless to say I am not happy and do not recommend this groomer.
My dog doesn’t even look clean or smell fresh.
Generally this is the first thing I notice, but not this time !
Buyer beware!

After a year of sending my medium Labradoodle to a nearby competitor, I decided to give Sudzy Puppy a try since the competitor cancelled my appointments not once by twice. Dan @Sudzy was great on the phone and when I got there, we fully discussed what I wanted Ponto to have done. My pup was immaculately groomed and the cost was extremely reasonable (once again, compared to the competitor). Would I go back? Absolutely! I’m a Sudzy Puppy convert!

Absolutely loved the «wash» staff! She gave my dogs so much love and made them feel so comfortable. They were absolutely beyond excited and clean when I picked them up.

I love, love, love Sudzy Puppy, and I am sad that we won’t be able to take our Fred there anymore (moving back home to Texas). Though we haven’t been to them in several months, I understand how important it is for pet parents to find a groomer. Unilocal led me to Sudzy Puppy when we first moved to the Naperville area, so I want to share my good experience. Their location can be kind of easy to miss if you aren’t familiar with the area, and the outside doesn’t look all that impressive, but I trusted them with my little dude immediately. Matt (I don’t think he’s been there for a while) and (I think) one of the owners immediately took him from me to snuggle. They kindly indulged my paranoid anxiety, and made me feel very comfortable leaving Fred with them. The employees are funky (in a good way), and are so super nice. They are very thorough, and prices are reasonable. I got the impression that they honestly did enjoy what they did and that they cared. I would go back to Sudzy Puppy without hesitation if we were still in the area, and I would definitely recommend them without hesitation.

Thank you, Sudzy Puppy! I took my little chihuahua mix in here today to get cleaned up and they did a wonderful job. The staff was very nice on the phone and in person. One of the employees — I think his name was Dan — picked up my furry friend and held her when we came in. I really appreciated this because she is nervous around new people and snuggling her makes her comfortable. Affordable pricing, nice staff, and groomed dog — can’t get any better than that!!!

We had brought our dog here for a few visits and won’t be back. Our dog was traumatized by her last visit. Her ear was cut, and she was a mess overall. Not what you expect when picking your dog up from the groomer. Sudzy Puppy is beyond disappointing, you can find better.

So… my last attempt at finding a suburban groomer left me in enraged tears and my puppy with a bleeding nail. I decided to give my fellow Unilocalers ONE more shot to guide me in the right direction before driving my dogs 45 mins into the city to go back to my fabulous Chicago groomers. Luckily, you guys know what’s up.
Twice now I have called like a total jerk mere hours before closing to ask if I can rush my babes in for a nail trim and file before they close, and both times they’ve been so wonderful about squeezing us in.
Heather, who I take from these other reviews to be the owner, is as wonderful as all these reviews say — she’s genuine, sweet, and AMAZING with dogs. Our rescue jack russel puppy is terrified of everything in the universe, but lets her hold him and trim his nails — and even offers a few extra snuggles before returning to us. My other dog is a bratty little guy, but he has never squirmed or snapped at them, because they are patient and VERY good at what they do.
And most importantly, both visits, both dogs, all rushed — and NO BLOOD. And not because they leave their nails long or something stupid like that — but because they know what they’re doing.
As soon as I shake my procrastination, I’m scheduling them both full grooming appointments — I feel totally comfortable leaving my babes with Heather and her staff.
Ooh and if that weren’t enough, the prices are super reasonable!

I was searching for a really good place in the Naperville area to trim my chihuahua’s nails because he HATES having his nails cut. I wasn’t sure how he would act at a groomer because he’s never been to one, but this place is perfect! The staff is very friendly, they work quickly, and they made sure he was comfortable before taking him back into the room. I was in and out within 10 minutes. The nail trims are very affordable too, only $ 7. My dog is very happy and running around the house being his silly self again. Thanks Sudzy Puppy! I highly recommend and I will be back.

The simplest way to describe this way is a cute one-​stop-​shop pet grooming boutique! Whether you want to bathe your dog yourself or drop the pooch off for some extra TLC from the friendly staff, this place will get the job done for a good price.
I personally like giving my dog a bath there, it’s a fun experience with my pet and also puts the little guy at ease a bit! Plus it’s cheaper :) There are a few shampoos to pick from based on scent or coat type, which helps if your dog has sensitive skin or if you just don’t want the little dude or gal smelling like a flower that day. They have special blow dryers and brushes as well. So you’ll be completely set! I also love that I can get this place messy with wet dog fur, instead of my home… that makes it alllll worth the cost!
There were only two tubs when I went though, so there’s a possibility you’ll have to wait. Just a fore warning!
There is a girl with short hair and glasses (although it’ll been awhile, so maybe she doesn’t have short hair anymore… or maybe she got Lasik… I dunno), and she is the sweetest person ever. She loves every animal that walks through that door and will baby talk the bejeezus out of them. My dog was terrified to get his nails clipped there, and she was more than patient with him by petting him and talking to him in a soothing voice for a bit before going to town on his nails. She’s great. I wish I could give her 5 stars.
All in all, there’s no reason to not love this place. They have all the other services available too, like trimming, nail clipping, gland expression, teeth brushing, etc.

Let me start off by saying that our family were very happy customers as of March of 2012 and came to the Sudzy Puppy based on the Unilocal reviews posted. There were a pair there (Heather specifically) who were just wonderful to our dog and now we’re wondering if they are even there anymore.
We made an appointment to have our dog groomed and were told it’d take 3 hours after dropping him off. At 3 hours, we called and were told it’d be another hour. Fine, we thought. Showed up after dropping him off 4 hours more and were told it’d still be another 5 – 10 minutes. A little annoying that it’s taken over 4 hours after having an appointment, but what would another few minutes hurt?
As we are sitting there waiting, we could hear the groomer making comments to other people, saying «he is actually cute now that I trimmed his face» and making comments about us «waiting too long» to be trimmed.
While grooming, our dog was being difficult and was becoming hard to trim in what felt like a rush to finish him despite him already been there for four+ hours. It had us wondering if our dog was sitting in a cage for 3 hours+ waiting to be groomed. Regardless, there was no such explanation — just comments from the other room and overall lacking positive customer service experience.
We’re hopeful that the original staff will be back but likely won’t be in a rush to use their services again, which is very sad as we were a very happy customer prior.

This place is like having the Goth kids from South Park groom your animals. They’re a fun brunch of kids.
I use their dog self wash and occasionally bring my cat for grooming at the same time. One time the owner;s moms let me use the back tub to wash the dog when they were crowded at Xmas. Nce touch.
There are some really aweful self groom places around. This one is nice, my only comment is the water temp can switch pretty quickly.
