Tasting deVine

Really cute little wine cellar, lots of variety, very knowledgable staff, reasonably priced. Only reason why I wouldn’t give 5 stars is that the place is not very comfortable, also we got a small cheese plate which was supposed to come with crackers and dried fruit but we never received that. Also the cheese was like Kraft cubes, my fault though should have ordered the gourmet plate. I didn’t realize there was a difference. Overall this is the best way to start out a date or a girls night!

This was such a great place to do a wine tasting with my co-​workers ! We all went after work and loved the Nick knacks they had to sell with the wine it was such a quaint experience for a small group of 8 after work hours to get together and try something new together! Also, the bartender/​hostess was such a ball and helped us pick out wine we loved ;) I would totally recommend this place to do a tasting !

My husband and I came here to kick off our latest Saturday night adventure. We were warmly greeted and decided to order a flight each and a cheese plate to share. We were told to grab a table and they would bring everything over to us. The space is really charming and I did some mental shopping while we waited.
The wine was fantastic. Neither one of us loves sweet wines, and they had a good variety of options that made us happy. The cheese plate was perfect for us to share and came with some fruit and nuts as well.
Prices are quite reasonable and we ended up getting a membership to further our enjoyment. It is definitely a busy place (we left around 7:45 and it was packed), but worth braving possible crowds. I will definitely be back for another date night or a night out with friends.

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and had the place to ourselves along with the two employees. We purchased a tasting of 6 wines each. Throughout our tasting, we weren’t really provided any information on the wines we were trying, but I can tell you nearly everything our two bartenders did the night before. From playing golf to watching the Blackhawks game, I know far more about their Friday evenings than I do about the wine served to us. This isn’t really the atmosphere I look for in a wine tasting, and I expected more from a shop in downtown Naperville. As for the wines themselves, many are sweet and/​or fruit wines which aren’t our favorites, so you may enjoy the wines more than we did. In conclusion, due to the poor service and wines that are too sweet, we will not be back

I received a groupon to Tasting deVine as a gift. We had fewer people than the groupon covered however we were not able to use the full amount of the deal with additional tastings. So instead of 6 tastings for 6 people we used 6 tastings for 3 people. (naperville liquor laws?) A deal for the owner to be sure. When we arrived we were the only ones there. Then a couple came in to purchase a glass, not samples. I overheard the other customer request a riesling, but they were declined that choice because it wasn’t on their list for the month.
Tastings were pre set wines rather than a choice from a list, which I think is possible if you walk in off the street. Two of the six were their very inexpensive table wines. One was a dessert wine. I would of preferred a choice. The host seemed like she wanted to rush us out by standing over us with new sample before previous one was finished. I think we drank 6 oz of wine in 15 minutes. Hardly relaxing. Glasses were not rinsed between samples. There was no little bread cube, cracker, nut to eat between tasting. I wanted to purchase a cheese platter or something to make the stop more of an event, but was told that they often run out of food because they are so busy so she didn’t have anything.
We enjoyed some of the wines sampled; some we did not. We wanted to purchase a bottle but were declined because this was a wine only offered to their members for the first 90 days it is available. The host offered no other suggestions to purchase or any information about their membership options. I thought the purpose of the tasting room was to introduce people to Lynfred wines so that they might become a customer. Apparently I was wrong.

Cute&rustic wine bar located in downtown Naperville but hidden from the chaos. I enjoyed a wine tasting with my husband and 3 close friends. Jennifer was very friendly, informative, and answered all of our questions. The wines were different, distinct & delicious. My husband (a none wine drinker) found a Chardonnay he enjoyed.

This is one of our favorite places to go for a relaxing taste of delicious wine. The wine is locally made, the space is perfect for a tasting, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We became members to enjoy the discounts as we have begun coming in so regularly! A must-​visit for a night out in downtown Naperville.

The wine was delicious. But the staff who was delivering the tasting was very rude and not accommodating. When I asked one of the ladies for my boyfriends last tasting she very rudely screamed no i already gave it to you. Why would I lie about a 2oz pour? I will definitely not return. I asked if we could put our coats and purses on a table and they said no. As a business owner don’t you think we would like to sit and relax. Only go here if you’re 55 and above and cranky.

tucked away in a basement location this winery has all the wines that the roselle location does and no where near the crowds. They have adorable items for sale such as decorative accessories and sauces/​jams. The service is always great. The only downside I have w/​lynfred as a whole, if you are a wine club member you cannot pick your wine up from different locations, only the one you signed up at, I wish they’d link their computer systems up.

We love the wine here! We just joined as members about a year ago and are glad we did. The ladies here are great and we really enjoy chatting with them.

I went in a group of 8 on a Saturday afternoon. They were not very busy and the service was unsatisfactory. The employee barely spoke to us, didn’t talk about the wines or share pairing ideas. I was hoping to purchase a few bottles for Easter but didn’t end up buying anything because the staff was so cold. 2 of us had to remind her that she skipped a wine on the sampling sheet. I drove about 30 miles to experience this and did not at all feel welcomed or valued. I will not return. Very much disappointed.

Well part of the blame here is Naperville’s strict liquor laws. On the other hand, I don’t understand why a wine tasting business would even think of opening in Naperville.
Tiny, pre measured pours, only 7 small tastes and you’re outta there, can’t order a glass of wine– why even bother? Sure glad I was only here for a free wine tasting I won. Every question we asked was met with a strict «no». Again, I can’t fault them for following the law, but it was just not fun. I will continue to take my business to Cooper’s Hawk where they do it right! Parking was a real hassle on a Saturday night too. Not for me. Cute store though.

I have walked past Tasting deVine about 100 times and never stopped because I thought it would be far too froufrou for me. I don’t like visiting places where the staff act like they are better than you and I was worried, that this would be my experience. I finally decided to stop worrying and decided to stop in for a tasting with my sister earlier this week. I couldn’t have been more wrong, this location is very inviting and wonderful!
This was a 1^st visit for both my sister and I. We wandered downstairs and walked over to the bar area where we were promptly greeted by a very nicer server who made us feel welcome quickly. She quickly asked us if this was our first visit, which it was, and explained how the tasting worked. We chose our 7 — 1 ounce pours from the tasting sheet and were informed about 3 warm wine options as well. We read the descriptions and picked based on that.
I have to say that the fruitier wines were the best! The Chardonnay and the Merlot varietals were ‘ok’ but the Plum and the sweet white that tasted like Riesling were my favorites! We also found out that the tasting menu changes every month which is awesome and more reason to visit often.
Tastings were $ 8.95. The bottled wine prices ranged from $ 11 — $ 26, so there is something for almost everyone’s price range.
There we about 4 other couples tasting when we arrived and I assume this would be a busier evening for this location, but our server was prompt to refill our glasses and never ignored us. Another nice surprise was that they give you a small plate of sourdough bread to snack on during the tasting… not sure why but it was tasty.
The one thing that I think is missing is a bit of wine education. I actually would like to know where the grapes and fruit come from and maybe what the growing region is like. I visited Napa/​Sonoma this past summer and I loved knowing here the grapes were grown, how many bricks they picked the wine at, etc.
I can’t wait to go back and visit Tasting deVine again soon. I’m glad I finally tried it and would highly recommend a visit to all wine lovers!

My wife had been DYING to stop by here… so after a solid dinner at Front Street we wandered down the stairs around 8:30. They are VERY friendly, and it was pretty empty since they close at 9, but I was not too excited doing a wine tasting after some Margs, beers, and hot sauce…
It’s only $ 8 per person for 6 tiny glasses to test, and lets just say that a winery from Roselle may not make the best wine, but we really enjoyed the experince. The kindness of the staff really makes a difference, and while we didnt buy any of the wine, The Hot Mamma really enjoyed the experience.
They also have plenty of little gifts (if that is your thing).

This tasting room serves only wines made by Lynfred Winery in Roselle, Illinois. Our hosts told us that Lynfred makes over 80 wines. There are fairly steep steps going down into this basement location under a storefront. We found ourselves in a small room decorated with painted concrete floors and lots of wood. I’ll leave professional wine critiques to the professionals; the whites I tried were all sweet and fruity. With advance notice they will provide cheese and fruit to taste with the wine. They also sell a variety of wine-​themed and seasonal gifts and will make up gift baskets with whatever you like.

I was walking through downtown Naperville, when I saw a sign for wine tastings. I was a little hesitant about going in because you cannot peek in since the tasting room is downstairs My date convinced me to try it out with him. So we ventured down the stairs into an adorable tasting room.
The lady working was super friendly and informative. She apologized to us when she said that it was the last day of the month so they were out of some wines. Then she told us we could order from what was left on the July tasting menu as well as what was going to be opened for the August menu. I was super excited because I only like sweet wines, so this gave me a greater chance of trying all sweet wines. Plus, I got to try four fruit wines rather than just two!
I got to pick 7 wines and had a 1 ounce pour of each. I really enjoyed all of the wines I tried. I even took home a bottle of my favorite– the Strawberry Rhubarb wine from Lynfred. For two tastings and a bottle of wine, it only cost us $ 30.
There are no seats and you cannot order a glass of wine, but I cannot fault Tasting deVine for that because it has to do with Naperville ordinances.

Imagine my surprise when moving to Chicagoland and finding out, soon after, it had a local winery. Some things Chicago is famed for — ketchupless hot dogs, the Cubs losing season after season, comedy, and bitter rock bands — but wine isn’t one. Sorely missing my hometown vines, I set out for the Lynfred Winery smackdab in the middle of the western suburbs.
Soon I came to reframe my understanding of «winery» as Chicagoans meant. Lynfred is indeed a functioning winery, but without a gentle slope covered in verdant vines entwined in a lover’s embrace around wooden supports. The winery purchases fruits and grapes used in their winemaking process from elsewhere, for Illinois is habitable only for corn, apples, and Asian carp. But the stomping and fermenting happens on site in Roselle, and the products bottled and sold locally. Tasting deVine caters to the Napervillian crowd, especially since Geneva’s shop closed.
Squeezed on the boutique row along Washington west of Jefferson, Tasting deVine is a basement suite near Potter’s Place restaurant. Look for a handsome wooden door carved with vines, and you’ve reached the right spot. Descending from the often busy and hot (or cold) streetside into the pleasant, intimately dim interior of Tasting deVine can be just the thing to soothe my frazzled nerves and I haven’t even got a glass of wine into my hand. The cellar feels appropriate for buying wine in, not simply because of the obvious benefits of steady temperature and proper storage conditions.
Tasting deVine carries almost the full range of Lynfred Winery’s offerings, though I come invariably for their selection of fruit wines. The cab sauvignon and the pinot noir are two strong contenders for reds, but give me that rhubarb wine any day. Whites are good, though I prefer mine sweeter than dry. Trust your palate’s direction in the capable hands of the staff, who charge a modest fee for a selection of tastings. If you want to arrange for regular purchases on a monthly arrangement, join the wine of the month club. They have one for reds, whites, reds and whites, and fruit wines at the last time I checked. I did the alternate red/​white options, and it was just like going to the mailbox for a parcel, except for adults. Prices are reasonable, about par with what you’d pay at Peterson’s or Trader Joe’s for a good bottle.
There are numerous gift ideas down there too. Wine paraphernalia of all kinds, cute t-​shirts, and cards might lure you in. The various food pairings are my downfall. Who knew I needed chutney, jam, cracker dips, and a tapenade? Apparently Tasting deVine did, and they will stuff you full of crackers or bread and goodness if you let them.
Good stuff and a slice of culinary culture in downtown Naperville, they’re a welcome addition.

I took my MIL and SIL to this place the other day for a fun girl’s outing.
For $ 9/​person we chose between 14 + 3 warm holiday wines to taste. We had 7 choices of 1 oz. tastes. It was really nice. There are equal choices of reds to whites and two fruit wines. For the experience, $ 9 for the equivalent of 1 glass of win was great. We were there about an hour and a half, so it was a fun experience. That’s why you go, right?
The woman running the place actually owns the same tasting room in Wheaton (which she said, get this, they have a more lenient ruling and are even allowed to sit down and drink outside! But, they only offer 7 wines and you don’t get to choose… but also have wines by the glass). Her husband is actually the winery owner at Lynfred. His name is Fred and his ex wife is Lyn.
She was a sweet woman and said she would really love to serve wines by the glass at this tasting room, but Naperville is strict. More strict than Wheaton, weird! So currently you can only taste and purchase bottles of wine to go. She isn’t even allowed to have chairs in there… hence the chair or stool void room. The bar is a stand only, but it’s really nice.
The ambiance is great, but we only saw women in the place. It would be a nice place to go on a date night. It’s not open late though, so consider the hours when you decide to go there.
We’ll be back for another girl’s night soon. Very nice.

Like a great wine, this place continues to get better with age. Each and every time that I have visited, I have been greeted warmly and Ihave been given excellent recommendations.
