I can’t say enough good things about this place. Months ago we tried taking our two dogs to another groomer, and they only got halfway done before giving up. Our dogs are not aggressive, they just pull their paws away because they are very anxious. And they don’t like having their faces trimmed. So they are essentially wiggle monsters.
My wife had cut their hair for a few years (the dogs are almost 5 years old), and finally we just decided to give this place a try. It took the groomers about 5 hours for each dog, but they look remarkable. So much better than anything we could do ourselves.
Oh, and trimming their nails were always a nightmare for us, but they were able to do that too.
We should have tried this place so much sooner. They actually take the time to understand your dog and they have patience with the dogs. These people are truly angels to us. They don’t charge nearly enough for what they do!

Awesome groomers and individuals who really know how to treat and care for your dogs! I consider my dog to be my child and this is the only place I feel comfortable leaving her and she came out looking great.

After a few bad grooming experiences with my 3 year old dog, I found the Upscale tail because they advertised dealing with very fearful dogs. To say they have been wonderfully patient is an understatement! My dog has been a handful, but Danielle and the other staff have gone out of their way to figure out the problem and solutions, even after Coco bit Danielle! Thanks to all their hard work Coco isn’t nearly so afraid going there and has been easier to work with. Highly, highly, highly recommend their services

I just moved to the area and looked on her for reviews. The reviews are absolutely correct. I love this place! My Sheltie was so well loved and taken care of when I picked him up. I’ve never seen him more relaxed and gorgeous looking! He pranced around like he knew it too.
I whole heartedly recommend this place.

Very happy with our service! Extremely friendly staff and knowledgable :) although we were just passing threw the area if we we’re permanently in IL this would be our go to grooming place. OlAf came out looking and smelling great also with a tie very handsome

WONDERFUL YOUNG LADIES!!! They did beautifully on my Louie. SUPERB customer service from them. They were very kind to give my Louie a complimentary blueberry facial because this was our first appointment, and my Louie came out smelling… delicious.
I love the fact they record your information for emergency purposes and if there is ever an emergency with your furbaby, there is an animal clinic within walking distance from the spa. They are fully prepared. I know my baby was in good hands.
We are returning in a few weeks to get Louie’s nails filed.

Took my puppies to see Sara at up scale tail last Friday 8/28…what an amazing experience Sara cares about the dogs and is excellent with their demeanor!
They went in very unkempt wow what a difference clean cut and perfect length.
Sara spends the time to get to know you and your dogs which I think is very important.
We will be seeing Sara often and 100% recommend her for your grooming!

Outstanding experience! This was my dog’s first experience with a professional groomer. I have a 14 year old…6 lb… short-​haired chihuahua. We are having house guests and I was running out of time… so I figured «Why not just pay someone so that I am less stressed?» (In the past we were a «bath in the kitchen sink» kind of family ;) Let me tell you… these ladies were so wonderful that I am actually going to now start bringing my dog to be groomed instead of doing it myself. Not only was Zoe in great spirits (meaning NO drama was had) but the owners also gave me some great suggestions for things to do at home to help my little dog as well. These ladies clearly love what they do and take real pride in their work and their business. I won’t be going anywhere else…

I decided to try this place out because it had such great reviews, adorable before and after photos and were able to get our dogs in when I needed them. Unlike many of the other reviewers, we didn’t have a horrific story from a previous groomer. Yes, some were better than others but nothing terrible ever happened. To be honest I signed them up because I was enticed by the adorable bow ties and ties that were in some of the photos. I was looking forward to my boys looking so dapper. Neither of my boys require trimming so I requested the standard bath with de-​shedding, anal gland release and teeth cleaning (which was not noted so they didn’t get brushed). When I asked for a ball park price quote she said $ 40 – 45 each, depending on how furry they are. This was comparable to the small place we have gone in the past so it didn’t raise any concern. My husband dropped the dogs off and I was able to pick them up after work. Upon entering I noticed the aromatherapy and was able to watch the groomer grind one of my dogs nails down. As they finished up another groomer sat and talked with me about what great boys the dogs were and was very friendly. Both dogs were very happy and calm when done with their service which is a great feeling. I was disappointed in two things when it came to my experience, the price I paid versus the price they told me to expect. (I ended up paying closer to $ 70 a dog.) I may have thought it was worth it but they also didn’t get a bow tie :-(. I can absolutely see why so many people like this place and it has such great reviews. However we will most likely continue using our small little shop we have been going to prior for price and location. Plus our dogs run loose while there and love it. Keep up the good work Upscale Tail!

These people are so wonderful. My Yorkies are my babies. When I took one here today, I knew immediately she was in good hands. They took extensive notes and were happy to answer all my questions. The shop is immaculate. Nicole was my dog’s groomer, and she spent lots of time with me to get exactly what I had in mind. She was done on time and looks just beautiful. Yes, this shop is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. The quality of work, customer service, and clear liking of my puppy were worth the price.

This place is amazing! I found out about Upscale Tail from my Aussies’ good girl trainer. The one Aussie has no issues with grooming. My other one gets so scared Petsmart refused to touch her and said she needed to be tranquilized and a vet groom her. That was pretty bogus.
Upscale Tail did some meet and greets so my scared Aussie could build trust. They gave her tons of love and treats. She let them groom her then!!! Now her paws no longer bother her and they brought out her cute little nub and Aussie wigglebutts. She was very happy leaving vs. at Petsmart where she was freaking out even in the car. I don’t wanna know what they did to her there. :(
I am so thrilled with the love and service my Aussie got. This place really is amazing and even cheaper than Petsmart. My friends who have boycotted Petsmart grooming on account of what happened to my dog will now be bringing their dogs here.
I must mention also how so soft and silky Alduin is now. She smells so good too. :)

Took my husky here and she came back a whole new dog (in a good way)! As huskies shed a lot the ladies here helped my dog with the de shedding process. The team here was very informative and handled my dog with great care. I brought her in at 730am and picked her up before noon =) It’s an awesome feeling when you can pick up your dog knowing everything went smoothly. It’s been a week and my girl who loves to be outside still looks great and smells good. I’ll be bringing her back.

We decided to try them out after our regular groomer moved away. Our dog gets groomed regularly every 4 – 6 weeks, gets regular baths and brushing at home and is less than ten pounds. My husband dropped him off and I was picking him up 2 – 2.5 hrs after drop off as informed by the staff. When I arrived 2.5 hrs later (side note, he also had a 7:30am appt so I don’t think they could run too late) I was told he wasn’t ready and someone from the back stated, «well, did we call you?». I explained that we were told about 2.5 hrs so that’s why I was there. They replied with, «well we need at least 4hrs for the complete experience». Four hours for a small dog with no mats or major issues?! So by noon my dog finally had had 7:30am haircut completed.
The place appeared clean from what I could see but you don’t get a real clear view of the back grooming area. The girls I spoke to at the final pick up were much more friendly than the original ones I spoke to and his haircut was pretty standard. I’m not sure why it took four hrs, I asked the pup and he said there was no mud mask or deep tissue massage so, I don’t know. All other groomers always say he is well behaved as well so that wasn’t the issue. Prices were comparable to other groomers as well so we will try another place.

I have been taking Mochi (a shih tzu) here since she was a puppy (4 months). I’ve had other dogs with bad grooming experiences, so I wanted to find a place that seemed reputable and did qualify cuts. I found Upscale Tail on Unilocal and was impressed with the award-​winning stylists and the photos. Even though it is about 30 minutes away, I decided to try it… And it has been perfect ever since!
Mochi gets her hair cut with Liz, which I can’t say enough nice things about. She loves mochi and mochi seems to love her right back! Liz always takes the time to come out when I drop Mochi off and talk about what style she should have, and always makes sure to make any changes if needed before I leave.
Finally, I think the prices are reasonable for the quality, service and high quality products that are used. Mochi’s cuts (with wash, style) have ranged from $ 30 – 50 (depending on cut), but think this is very reasonable. I know many other grooming salons that are $ 70+ for shih tzus and they aren’t even as good!
Give Upscale Tail a try… You won’t regret it!

Lilly, our chocolate lab, was sprayed by a skunk the last night. Despite my efforts and constant bathing, I could not get ride of the smell on our precious pup. She smelled horrible!
I knew it was time to bring in the professionals on this one. Who did we call? The Upscale Tail was to the rescue!
This was our first time ever having our chocolate lab groomed, and this place did a fantastic job! My dog never looked so good!
The staff and Sarah were great with us at all points of contact. From the initial phone call, drop off to pick up. The best part is my dog doesn’t smell like a skunk anymore!
Thanks for taking care of our dog on such short notice! I will definitely bring her back again when she needs another grooming.

Our first visit to Upscale Tail means our last visit to that other place!
We received great service and didn’t have to wait. They fed our Beagle many treats during his visit for a nail file. $ 15 later I had a happy Beagle with the most beautiful, nicely filed nails I have ever seen.
In the past, I would pay about $ 25 for a bath/​brush/​ears/​nail trim at another place. But the last visit, $ 25 and several unpredictable hours later, was it for me. They had completely missed some of his nails and I went back the next day to get it fixed. I vowed to find a new place.
Upscale Tail may be a few dollars more, but I feel more confident that the ladies running this place know what they are doing and care. I’m still in awe over how short and rounded his nails are. I thought I’d have a Beagle with vicious vulture claws forever.

I can’t believe I have ever had my dog groomed anywhere else but here. I have had many negative experiences over the course of the last 3 years, but my experience with The Upscale Tail was nothing short of amazing.
I have two furry children at home, one being a golden retriever. He is a very timid, shy guy with a ton of separation anxiety whenever he is away from his home, mom, or dad. Because of this, leaving him with a groomer has always been hard to begin with. But then to make it even more difficult on me, my poor guy has come home with cuts, scrapes, and even more anxious than when I dropped him off. The last time I picked him up this way, I promised that I would never again let that happen to him. To say the least, I have been an upset and terrified dog mom about getting him groomed at all-​but it simply needs to be done.
I was telling another pet owner about my many negative experiences when they had suggested The Upscale Tail. Although of course still nervous, I thought it would be worth a try and went home and did my research. Everything looked amazing at first glance, so I called and booked an appointment asap– which was a wonderful experience in itself. Their staff was friendly, very explanatory in their practices, and reassuring even just over the phone.
Then the day finally came. I brought my big guy in for his appointment and was so nervous about how his day was going to go. He briefly fought when they went to take him back, but was no where near the struggle he had given everyone in the past. This made it much easier on me leaving him there, although I did worry throughout the day. He is scared of dryers (not sure why), so I knew it would take them longer than the estimated couple of hours, but I still could not wait just to go pick him up.
When I arrived back, not only did he actually look happy for once leaving the groomer, but he looked like a completely different dog (not an exaggeration at all). He was perfectly trimmed down to where I would want him to be in the summer months and had the most adorable tie on. I was so proud of my handsome guy and his haircut, as was he. The price was more than reasonable for the job they did.
They mentioned that they brushed out a bunch of dead hair it was noticeable instantly. I would have never known my buddy could look so amazing and «clean» (for lack of a better word, but in reference to his hair/​coat). I have had special «shed control» services done at a few other grooming salons and he has NEVER looked the way he did picking him up from The Upscale Tail.
I would strongly recommend The Upscale Tail to anyone and everyone– even distant from Naperville. It is well worth the trip and your money.

If it were possible to give this place six stars, I would probably write a review complaining that I can’t give them ten stars. I will never go to any other pet salon for as long as I live in Naperville, Illinois.
My poor children have had awful experiences at grooming salons (mainly petsmart) that leave them absolutely traumatized. We’ve had issues where they’ve come home with cuts on their skin, eye infections (from a cut near the eye), bloody paws from their nails being cut too short, and scratches on the inside of their ears. I’ve about killed at least three groomers and that’s no joke.
After multiple times of this occuring, I decided to groom them at home. What a nightmare. They certainly weren’t the most stylish dogs, but at least they were comfortable with me and I knew they were safe.
I saw the Upscale Tail as I was driving on Plainfield Naperville Road. The massive amounts of trophies in the window immediately caught my attention. So I went home, did some research, read some reviews, and found absolutely nothing wrong with this place. It seemed almost too good to be true in fact. I immediately called to schedule an appointment.
The lady over the phone was just amazing; extremely polite, full of information, friendly and extremely concerned about the well-​being of my boys. She assured me that they DO NOT have heated kennel dryers, which was my biggest concern. So many people have lost their pets to these things because they overheat. The kennels are air conditioned, they blow dry them by hand, AND they even put a head wrap around the dogs ears so they won’t get scared by the sound of the blow dryer. It’s also sprayed with a camomile perfume to calm the dogs!
I dropped my boys off and they were so scared, literally pawing at the door to escape. Kendra, the owner, was just outstanding with them. She didn’t force them into grooming right away, but worked with them for awhile to gain their trust by playing with them, letting them explore, and giving them lots of treats! When they were willing to go with her on their on, she bathed them and cut their hair. She also cleaned their ears and cut their nails. No cuts, no blood, no bruising! Everything was perfect.
Surely this must cost a fortune right? I mean, they have all these trophies for grooming dogs, and they gave my dogs the ultimate salon service…
…$ 50 for the hair cut, bath, nails, and ear cleaning! THAT’S IT! I couldn’t believe it. I was paying $ 50 just for a bath and cut at Petsmart and nails were an extra $ 12!
When I picked up my boys, they looked absolutely amazing and they had little ties on their collars so they looked all fancy and business-​like! So cute. What I loved most is the fact that they didn’t want to leave. That’s how I know Upscale Tail really did a great job and treated them like their own family pets.
They also post before and after pics of your dogs on their facebook! Adorable!

I have tried many groomers for my 3 dogs, Daisy, Louie and Vienna. Some good, others not so good. They all seem to cost around the same.
I read about the Upscale Tail and thought it would be expensive and focusing more on show dogs vs our everyday house pets. To my surprise, I was incorrect.
It is located in a small strip center in the corner and can be easily missed. (Note. I went past it the other day and a new PET SALON sign was up and very prominent). When you first walk in, you can’t help notice all the trophies. When I took the dogs in (A little crazy bringing 3 in at one time) they came out and greeted each dog like they are old friends. Right off the bat I could tell they were good with dogs.
I received a phone call after 3 hours that the dogs were ready.
They heard my voice as soon as I walked in and started barking. When they brought them out, I couldn’t believe they were the same dogs. Daisy, who is just one big ball of hair and sheds non stop, (Yellow Lab) looked like she lost 20lbs. her coat was thinned out, soft and shiny. Getting all that hair off of her was worth every penny. The amount of hair coming off of her in the last 2 weeks have been minimal. I have never had Daisy look so good from any other salon before.
Louey (Black Lab) was next to come out. Black as night and his coat was very shiny. They put a ribbon around his neck shaped like a tie. He looked adorable.
Interesting fact I learned from them. A white dog will always shed more then a black dog every time. Even if it is half black and half white, more white hair will come off then black.
The last was Vienna (Dachshund). She looked extremely good with her little purple bow. She smelled good (which is a miracle for her since she rolls in everything) and her nails were finally cut short enough where she won’t be scratching up the wood floors.
When it was time to pay the bill, I was pleasantly surprised that it cost the same as all the other salons.
I would suggest highly that you try them out. I am very pleased even 2 weeks later how good they still look and smell.

This is the BEST dog grooming salon in Naperville.
Jennie has groomed our Labradoodle Chase, since he was a puppy! She always makes him look great, but more important, he loves going to see her. I can always leave him with Jennie and he will be well cared for and happy.
