Trader Joe’s

Love the selection. I had a small purchase and then a larger one at the same time. Payed for the small one with my debit, then when the 110 $ order was done it wouldn’t go through. Cashier must have done something cuz the bank called me and had to confirm it wasn’t fraud… Not sure who’s fault it was, but cashier made a comment as if I didn’t have enough money in my account. I returned a few minutes after withdrawing the cash, waited quite some time for them to bring the bags I think they started to restock, and went on my way. If u ever make 2 purchases at once, always do the bigger one first!!!

Pretty decent TJ’s.
Came here shortly after moving to this state desperate for my Trader Joe’s fix. The selection was pretty good and the items were fresh. We came here rather late at night and yet the store was clean (although the bathroom probably needed cleaned) and the employees were friendly. It’s a bit out of the way for me so chances are I won’t be back often, but I recommend it.
Oh and good enough parking space which is a plus!

Excellent customer service! This is a shoutout to one particular cashier who was super thoughtful and respectful to me! :) His kindness was fully appreciated and will not be forgotten!

I love the little samples they always have to give you new ideas for snacks and meals. The frozen foods are fantastic. Selection is a bit small, but you can always find something interesting. Prices are very reasonable.

Coming from an area that never had a Trader Joe’s, when I moved to Naperville I quickly jumped at the opportunity to venture inside. Upon my first visit, I felt overwhelmed and almost as if I wasn’t cool enough to shop there (at another location). After discovering the Naperville location, my love affair with Trader Joe’s was sparked.
While they are priced extremely well, it’s best to go in knowing what you want/​need or you will be quickly sucked up in their many dips, sides, and wonders of Trader Joe’s. I love the samples in the back, always a good opportunity to try something new. Have bought everything I’ve sampled because it was so amazing!
PRO TIP: Their flowers last FOREVER. Worth the $ 4 to make yourself smile daily.

This is a nice, large, well organized Trader Joe’s. The one where I used to live had a tiny, super hectic parking lot, and was difficult to navigate with a cart. This one has decent sized aisles to accommodate the hordes of shoppers that Trader Joe’s generally attracts. Other than that change, it’s a pretty typical Trader Joe’s. They have a wonderful selection of prepared foods and snack foods for a reasonable price. The produce is not very good (typical) but they make up for it. I generally just shop her for snacks for my husband and myself and a few specialty things that I can’t live without. I do my produce and staples shopping elsewhere.

This store is fairly small, they do pack a lot of stuff into it, but no way could I do all my grocery shopping here. We’ve learned their selection tho and visit frequently for the things they do carry that we need. Love the frozen seafood. Produce is small but has essential items and most of them are usually fresh enough. If you need something more exotic like bean sprouts tho, forget it! Big selection of cheap wines, small beer area, most brews are brewed by Gordon Biersch under the Trader Joe label, although they have some 22oz bombers of Belgians and various IPA’s. The staff is very friendly and helpful here. The place is always mobbed, even during normal working hours for working stiffs. Odd thing: nothing is ever on sale which is of course very rare for a food store. «Normal» prices each and every day. The normal prices are ok but sales at competing stores are lower.

There are things I like about Trader Joe’s, and there are things I dislike about Trader Joe’s.
Once you walk into the store, as with most grocery stores, you’re in the produce section. So let’s start there. The produce at TJ’s is hit or miss. The avocados I’ve purchased here are either rock hard or three days overripe. I’ve never gotten a good avocado here, so it doesn’t matter that they’re cheap as heck. Because they go directly into the trash. The jalapeños (among other things) are a great price, but you have to buy like 6 of them at a time. Now, I like spicy food, but I live alone. I’m not going to eat 6 jalapeños before many of them go bad. Why can’t I just purchase one? Because they don’t sell them that way. Pretty much the only produce worth purchasing here are stuff I’ll eat very quickly or stuff that won’t go bad quickly. I highly dislike not being able to chose the quantity of produce I buy, as most things at TJs are prepackaged.
Breads, tortillas, english muffins, etc, are also very well priced at TJs with a decent selection. However, there’s no bakery at TJs. So you can’t walk out with a nice, freshly baked, still warm, loaf of Italian bread. They also don’t have vegan muffins /​cookies /​scones.
On the wall near the produce are refrigerated shelves which include vegan «meat» products. I have to say, TJs has the best, firmest, extra firm tofu I’ve ever eaten. I would come here just to buy their tofu. And the price is way better than Whole Foods when it comes to tofu. EXCEPT, they don’t sell silken tofu. Which is really unfortunate considering silken tofu is almost a pantry staple for vegans. Their other selection of vegan products leaves a lot to be desired. Crappy selection of tempeh. No seitan. Your choices are tofu, a few kinds of tempeh, vegan «lunch meats», and soy chorizo. They also don’t seem to sell miso.
The other aisles are hit or miss. I particularly like the frozen food section. In fact, I pretty much go to TJs to buy tofu and frozen stuff. They have a ton of amazingly priced frozen fruits: mango, strawberries, blueberries, figs (!!), pineapple, and I think some other berry and tropical fruit mixes. Frozen produce is also great: spinach, corn, peas, edamame, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc. The prices of frozen produce here are way better than WF. That said, I have to make separate trips to WF to purchase frozen butternut squash.
Another frozen item I love at TJs is their soy creamy cherry chocolate chip frozen dessert. It’s probably one of the best vegan ice creams I’ve ever eaten. The price is also incredible. So Delicious is my absolute favorite, but it’s like the Ben & Jerry’s of vegan ice cream. Not very affordable. When you want to get a ½ gallon and don’t want to take out a second mortgage, go to TJs and get their soy creamy stuff.
Most people who love TJs love it because of the wine and the frozen entrees. I’m not into frozen entrees. TJs has a fair selection of frozen vegan stuff, but not really anything that excites me. One thing I did like that they have is breakfast «sausage», except it’s got eggs in it. Otherwise you’ll find chick’n tenders, fake meatballs, and other stuff along those lines. Small selection, good prices.
Canned and jarred goods such as nut butters, honey, maple syrup, oils, vinegars, sauces, beans, etc. are relatively good. The prices are for the most part competitive with WF (but not always). The selection of sauces is incredible, and I definitely stock up on them when I shop here. The selection of beans, however, makes me really sad. If you don’t like black beans, kidney beans, or refried beans, you’re out of luck. Considering WF has an entire floor-​to-​ceiling space filled with different varieties of beans, you’d think TJs could step up their game a notch.
The vegan «dairy» section is also hit-​or-​miss. The soy milk selection is great with excellent prices. The yogurts are disappointing; if you don’t like coconut milk based yogurt, you’re out of luck. I don’t care for the texture or flavor of coconut milk yogurt, so I have to make a separate trip to WF to stock up on my soy yogurt. Because TJs only sells TJs brand stuff, you won’t find Daiya, Teese, or any other brand cheeze that you’re used to. I went vegan when vegan cheeze was something you didn’t touch with a 10 foot pole, and now that I’ve tried Daiya, I don’t bother with other brands. There’s just too much that can go wrong when it comes to vegan cheeze, and life is short.
So, there you have it. I pretty much literally have a spreadsheet comparing TJs and WF when it comes to prices (WF not always being more expensive than TJs), and they both have their pros and cons. Selection at TJs is not as good for vegans, but still very reasonable. What I end up doing is make two grocery lists, and split my shopping into two trips.

Love this store! I brought my son today and he enjoyed pushing the little shopping cart. The employees are so friendly. The store is very clean and organized. We are returning!

This is the 3^rd Trader Joe’s I’ve been to recently. I’ve become hooked on a few items that they carry, so I’ve found myself checking out all the different locations in the area.
The Naperville one is pretty small, but it’s mighty. They had every item in stock that I was looking for, that another TJ’s store has been out of for weeks. Big plus for that! The staff were all incredibly friendly too. That’s the best part of shopping at TJ’s and something that keeps me coming back. Everyone has their favorite items but I like a little of everything.
The only downside to this location was that I was hit with a cart on two separate occasions by the same woman. When I looked at her waiting for an apology or even some sort of remorseful look, she stared at me blankly. I’m not sure what I or my basket did to offend her, but I walked out of here a little bruised up.
Besides having to wear shin guards, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this location. It’s equidistant to the other locations from me and I found this one superior in terms of having everything in stock.

Wish we had one of these closer to where I live, but I don’t mind making the 40 minute trek once in awhile. I specifically went in for their pizza dough and ended up buying a few other things. I always like to get their fresh flowers, they’re pretty reasonably priced. If you go on a weekend, it will definitely be busy and can be hard to find parking. I think their prices are competitive on most items and the people at the check out are usually friendly. If you are in the area, definitely stop in!

Out of all the grocery stores in the world, this is the one I love best. Everything is good. So many unique items, each hand-​picked to represent the finer things in life that go in your mouth. And they taste good. Except for the soap. Don’t eat the soap.
I stopped in the other day looking for a few small items. It was my turn to make dinner and I really didn’t know what to make. I was perusing through the wine section and stumbled upon an employee named Vince who was more than helpful. Not only did he suggest a fantastic dinner, (which I can now confirm was fantastic) but he also recommended a bottle of wine that would pair well with it. Now this is exactly the kind of dedication that a business like this thrives upon – hats off to you sir.

This place is pretty sweet. Unfortunately, I do not live as close to it as I would like– otherwise I might go there for my weekly groceries.
I just wanted to point out a few items my hubby and I absolutely love:
1) PUMPKIN PANCAKES ($ 2.99/box) — These are the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. Period. Sadly, they are only available during the fall. However, as of today, Jan 20^th, they are still available! GO NOW! I literally bought 6 boxes for the rest of the year… I also saw they had Coconut Pancakes and Peppermint Mocha Pancakes– purchased those as well– can’t wait to try them!
2) Dark Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans– My hubby absolutely loves these! I’m not really a fan though.
3) Apple Cider ($ 2.99?) — Holy cow this apple cider is DELICIOUS!!! Sooo full of yummy flavor! Again, only available during the fall.
4) Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe’s– OMG these are extremely scrumptious. They are chocolate covered cookies with a cream filling and peppermint candy cane chunks on the outside. These just melt in your mouth and after you have one, you have to really and seriously fight yourself to stop yourself from eating more. Only available during Christmas time =(!!!
I’m sure there’s a ton of other delicious stuff here– I just need to discover them! The staff here are super friendly. They are also fast grocers and amazing grocery bag packers!!!

I have yet to have a bad experience at a TJ’s. The selection, the quality, the prices and the service at this location are on point as they should be.
I’ve recently discovered some new (new to me that is) favorites that are most likely going to become staples at mi casa:
Cookie Butter: It’s basically snicker doodle spread that they recommend adding to a peanut butter sammie. Yeah, ok, that’s if you can stop eating it directly outta the jar.
Cheddar Horseradish Chips: Ruffled highly seasoned orange delights that pack that punch that up until now, I thought only horseradish could.
Mini Stroopwafels (Mini Wafers Filled With Caramel): I was actually looking for the full sized ones to place over a hot cup of coffee (melty caramel yumminess), but these’ll do nicely.
Trader Joes Burlap Bag: It’s huge and lined with polyurethane. It stands on its own and seems sturdy enough when I was lugging all sorts of non grocery related stuff in it. The straps are surprisingly comfortable. it’s cute enough to be a large purse. And it’s only $ 2.99. Compared to my much smaller burlap Whole Foods bag that was $ 6.99, my TJ’s bag wins by a landslide.

I love Trader’s! Their prices are low and their products are high quality. You can’t beat that with stick!!! I pass at least 5 other grocery stores to get to Trader’s, but it’s so worth it. Some if my go-​to products include: Trek Mix, Cilantro and Chive Dip, Pita Chips, Fruit, bags of greens, frozen brown rice.
Their staff is always very helpful and friendly.

I love everything about Trader Joes. I honestly don’t know how they fit so much into a tiny store. There’s really no more than 6 aisles, if that.
Their produce section is great and well-​priced. My only qualm is that a lot of the vegetables are pre-​cut and packaged so I’m not sure if those are a great deal.
They have a great selection of cheese and meats as well for great prices. They have a KILLER wine selection, and the famous $ 3 chuck. It’s not great but it’s also not bad for the price.
My favorite part about TJs is rolling up to be check-​out with a cart full of groceries and watching the busy worker bees coordinate your items into only a few bags. I want them to come to my house and organize my closet!
And new found discovery: cookie butter, get some.

I was spending the afternoon with my mom, and when she told me she’d never been to Trader Joe’s, I decided that needed to change! Having only visited Trader Joe’s twice myself (once at the Wheaton store, once in Chicago to use the bathroom), I was interested in going back.
My first big find at Trader Joe’s was a box of a dozen macarons for $ 4.99. Considering macarons at bakeries usually cost $ 1.50+ each, even someone with the poorest math skills can figure that it is a deal. I had my doubts about the freshness, but the cashier suggested I let them thaw (they’re in a refrigerated/​freezer section) for a few minutes. She was right, and the next day, they developed that classic crunchiness to the shell that I love.
Then I decided to check out the wine. I’ve heard so many people refer to the «Two Buck Chuck,» but apparently there is no wine really called by that name, so I picked up a bottle of the Charles Shaw Sauvignon Blanc for $ 3.
I can’t judge a place based on their customers, but there’s definitely some uppity clientele shopping here. You know, the type who say «excuse me» by staring at you (or in this case, the back of my mom’s head). The aisles are narrow too. The cashier was super friendly, and that’s what really counts.
There were even more things I wanted to buy like praline pecans, pistachio bark, and a Hydrangea plant. I also really like Trader Joe’s wheat bagels, and for $ 2.49 they’re what I call the «every man’s Whole Foods.»

If they had a selection of meat, fish and chicken that showed variety in both cuts and price points, I would give them five stars! This store has the most helpful, willing, informed staff with the very best of attitudes. The price points on the fresh greens are amazing, as is the selection. In the frozen section I found so many items that are of great quality and also save time: cut up and cleaned leeks, baby peeled pearl onions, carrot pearls, succotash. In the produce section I put back two butternut squash because they had fresh peeled and chopped butternut squash! Why wouldn’t you buy it? And the wine selection never lets you down, such great choices at such friendly prices. The cheeses are well thought out, organized and priced.
I will probably update this review because I haven’t explored the baked/​bread items to any degree. I do miss being able to round out my basket with proteins, I am simply not paying $ 14.00 for a poulet! Not enough here to keep me interested.

I’ve never been to a bad Trader Joe’s, REALLY just variations of a-​ok to excellent — and this location is no exception. The produce is always absurdly fresh, the shelves are clean and stocked, the meat and cheese selection well organized, and the store is logically laid out. And by logically I mean I came in for eggs and cheese and left with wine, frozen egg rolls, and crunchy cinnamon twists.
What makes this Trader Joe’s better than others in the area is the incredibly kind, helpful, and bubbly staff. I am NOT the kind of shopper who wants to chit chat with anyone as I’m plowing through the aisles or rushing through checkout, and yet they always find a way to be just chatty enough without being annoying.
And for all of the organic, natural, high quality products they have, their prices are less than Whole Foods, Mariano’s, usually even lower than Jewel. They don’t have EVERYTHING, but usually, if they don’t have it, I don’t need it. I’m usually here at least twice a week, because I can’t get enough.

I love Trader Joe’s for their produce, and their eggs and milk are far cheaper than other grocery stores. You can also get great deals on their frozen goods and their wine selection looks stellar (but I’m not a wine drinker, so I can’t comment further on that one).
The staff is incredibly friendly, which is a plus. However, this location, much like the one in Glen Ellyn, has terrible parking and unfortunately the patrons are simple minded. The aisles are narrow but people will stop or leave their carts in the middle, making it difficult to navigate through the chaos that you are guarenteed to encounter at TJ’s. On the plus side, the store is clean and the shelves never look like they were bum-​rushed for an impending doomsday.
It’s not a place to do your basic grocery shopping, but somewhere you can go to get party snacks. The hummus for example is reasonably priced and the variety of flavors available make it an easy item to bring to a gathering. Plus, it’s probably the best hummus I’ve ever had!
I enjoy their onion soup bowls; they’re very reasonably priced and wayyyy tastier than your instant ramen noodle cups. Also, the Anne Chun soup bowls are delicious (my favorite being the miso), and are considerably cheaper than other grocery stores. Definitely give those a try if you haven’t, you won’t be disappointed!
