VCA Boulder Terrace Animal Hospital

We have used Boulder Terrace prior to VCA acquiring them and have always found them to be outstanding. In our most recent incident, Dr. McLaren went over and above the call of duty. He recommended VCA Aurora for the emergency and then continually calls to follow up on Fiona. We are extremely grateful for the care they provide.

I’ve been going to Boulder Terrace with my dogs (4) for the last 5 years and I love them. You can always get an appointment same day and the doctors are all very good. We usually see Dr. McLaren who is a very curious person and has always gotten to the bottom of issues with our dogs, even if it wasn’t immediately obvious what it was. He also calls to follow up on how a dog is doing when it’s appropriate. Once I had Googled some information about a new study that came out about a new use case for a drug that I thought could help my dog and I asked Dr. McLaren about it. He actually read the research, called the company himself to discuss it and we decided to try it, which was successful.
I can also count on being seen at my appointment time, so there isn’t a lot of waiting around. Their prices are reasonable and I’ve never felt pressured to buy into things like extra vaccinations or meds that weren’t necessary. The rest of the staff are really friendly as well. When our 13 year old dog died at our home, we brought her to Boulder Terrace to take care of her body and it was (obviously) a very hard thing for us. The doctor and staff’s compassion and the way they helped us get everything settled made things go as smoothly and humanely as they could have gone. I would highly recommend this vet.

They have great veterinarians. Here is the thing, I bring my cat in because she has been having bad asthma attacks. The vet even tells me that it is life threatening, but they would not do the treatment plan because I did not have the money at the time to pay for her treatment plan. They are so terrified of the big corporate VCA that they would not do the treatment plan with a payment plan. Have you guys ever thought about treating the patients brought in, instead of treating our animals like they are just business or money in their eyes. Great vets, absolutely terrible company.

This vet is not for cats. My kitten refused to eat and got dehydrated so I brought him in. They run all unnecessary checks on him but not saving him at all. I was watching him get weaker. I spent a lot of money for nothing. Most Horrible experience ever. I ended up bringing him to the breeder and now he is doing well. No experience with cats. Just want to make money.

I’m new to the Naperville area and chose this vet just based off online reviews. I lucked out, because I’ve been very pleased with the care. Dr. Hailer is a thorough and thoughtful vet. She went over my cat’s records from his previous vet minutely. She offered several price points for the cat’s care (the cat has a chronic condition), which I really appreciated, and the pros and cons for each. She has personally called me to update me on test results and to discuss treatment, and is very good at explaining technical details to a layman.

Everyone here is incredible. The office staff took me in the back and showed me a couple of cats up for adoption, as I’m hoping to find a new lifelong family member. The entire office staff was so friendly. I left a message for the vet regarding a cat at the animal shelter that I had an interest in, but was concerned about her health. Both vets returned my call. I ended up speaking with the male vet (I’m horrible with names). He patiently answered all of my questions. I was extremely impressed. This clinic is the best and I trust all 4 of my pets with them. :)

I brought my 10 pound mix breed here to board during for a few days while on vacation. When I first got there he was a little nervous as they put him in a small cage directly across from a HUGE New Finland, although I told them he was terribly afraid of big dogs. I requested they move him they said that he would calm down I told them he would not as long as he was directly 3 feet away from this other large dogs. I didn’t understand the big deal there were several pins out of direct sight that were empty. I got a weird feeling then and I should have listened to my gut. But I didn’t want to raise a stink and leave my dog there after it. 24hrs after dropping him off I get a call from them saying he wasn’t eating and vomiting and the vet needed to see him. They gave him a sedative, and an anti nausea pill. Those two things cost more then his 3 day stay (which my was the soonest my daughter could come home from campus and get him). I went with them because my neighbor recommended them and they were not as expensive as some of the other places (note to self it’s still true you get what you pay for). But she had never boarded with them. O and the best part was when he came home he was lethargic and just not himself. Then he started making this terrible honking sounds that got worst and kept everyone in the house up and had me so scared I slept on the couch with him at night. He had caught kennel cough from them! I will say they were gracious enough to cover the vet visit but the meds I had to cover which were not cheap. I feel that they should have covered everything. He had not been bordered any where else in the last 2 years and he is not around other dogs, he is an only pet and the incubation period fit. It makes me wonder about those other empty cages– the vet was calm but unsympathetic and tried to insinuate he picked it up at a dog park! But as I said my dog is terribly afraid of big dogs thus I don’t take him to these types of places because you never know what breeds will be there. Case in point don’t board there. For the bill when it was all said and done I could have taken another vacation!

I took my cat for a checkup in the evening of 6÷7÷2013. The doctor was very nice. The young man (vet tech) was also very sweet and helpful, and the the woman at the front desk (Kathy) was very kind and sweet. The woman at the front desk who was in training at the time was unpleasant towards me and I had no idea why.
Staff is friendly and compassionate about the animals’ welfare. It is a long drive from my house, however, if you are in the Naperville vicinity, I recommend this clinic. :)
