Windscape of Naperville Apartments

I love it here. I’ve been here for a year and a half and have NEVER had an issue. The office peeps are very friendly and professional — Stephanie, Audrey and Anthony. My one bedroom apartment with the vaulted ceilings and skylight along with central heat and air are all I need. My washer/​dryer in my unit has never had an issue. Great neighbors and the pool area is AWESOME! I highly recommend to anyone looking for an apartment in Naperville. Top notch.

I lived here for 3 years and for the most part enjoyed my experience. Any time I had an issue in my apt, someone was out to fix it the next day, unless it was an emergency in which case they were out within 15 minutes. I liked everyone who worked there and it was nice to know that they knew who I was when I walked into the office.
Some pros are: nice walk in closet, full sized washer & dryer, storage closet and updated units & appliances. The management team also hosted plenty of events to bring the community together. As other people have mentioned, the cons are the layout of the living room, lack of microwave and no balcony but I would still recommend Windscape to anyone looking for a place to call home!

Do not rent from here. Black mold in the walls and they are too cheap to remove it properly! They just cover it up with new drywall. The walls are paper thin here. I hear my neighbors snore all night long. The buildings are old and they don’t properly care for them. The dishwashers don’t work. The skylights leak. The shingles look like they’re going to just fall off any day. Stay far away from this place!

I was very surprised to see such low reviews for this apartment complex. I have lived in the Windscapes for a few months now and have really enjoyed every moment. Staff has been more than accommodating and even went as far as to jot down some must go places in the area since I was new to it. My apartment is also very reasonably priced.
I recently had a leaked in my roof near the skylight. Maintance called and said that since it was pouring they would not be able to get on the roof that night (which is totally reasonable). They checked out the problem the very next day and within a week the problem has been fixed. This past week during the first snow of the year, I was pleased to see that the sidewalks and parking lot were plowed and salting in a very timely manner.
I have enjoyed the small complex get togethers they have hosted and look forward to others in the future. Just this morning, I was surprised to find employees handing out bagged breakfast to those leaving the complex.

Pros: 1. The people who run the place were always willing to assist anytime I needed something and were very friendly. 2. The dog park is nice and if you have a friendly dog it’s a great place for them to socalize. 3. They were constantly updating my apartment building and the surrounding area. I must have moved in at a great time as my particular unit was up to date and looked great, I got a lot of compliments from friends particularly with the floors that looked like real wood. 4. The location is about a 25 minute walk to downtown Naperville, great for those who work there. 5. The price was reasonable for the location and relative size.
Cons: 1. It’s behind a high school. I don’t mind the noise personally but I could see it bothering some people. To go along with that, sometimes you will see teenagers wondering around your area (again, not something that bothers me). 2. Fire alarms. On at least two occasions I was outside at 2 AM, in the rain, because someone had set off a fire alarm. Thankfully people in my complex learned that the alarms were sensitive and stopped setting them off, but it’s something to be aware of when you are cooking. 3. Noise level can be high because the sound proofing didn’t seem to be the best. It wasn’t too bad but it could be annoying for people who prefer constant peace and quiet.
Something that really stuck out: The day I left, they had a sticky note on their desk regarding a repair I had called in about two weeks prior; It was totally my fault they never got to it because I never called them to confirm a time for the repair. It was cool to have them reference it when I stopped in the office to make sure I knew they were going to take care of it and they remembered who I was.
Overall: Great place to live, better than any other apartment I had stayed in before, but as with any place there are cons and trade offs.

I’ve lived here for two years and don’t have any complaints. I also received a $ 200 gift card to downtown Naperville when I signed my lease, which was awesome! I’m in a 1 bed/​1 bath on the 2^nd floor and love having the skylights. It lets in a lot of light, just gets a little loud when it rains hard or hails (but that’s to be expected).

No microwave in kitchen
Limited counter space/​cabinets in kitchen
No balcony or porch in units
Living room area is long and narrow (a little difficult to arrange furniture, feels small)
Unfortunately some of my neighbors in my building may need a refresher on fire-​safety since the fire alarms have gone off at least 5 times while I’ve lived here. Fortunately it has never been an actual fire and this also does not reflect Windscape directly (just my ignorant neighbors).
I’ve enjoyed living here but plan to move somewhere else with a porch/​balcony in unit and also a larger kitchen when my lease is up.

Spent about one year and a half at this place. I would have gave them a 3 to 4 star if not for the window replacement job done about 1 month before I moved out. However, It is UNSAFE to stay at this apartment anymore after they replaced the windows.
Here is the thing. The contractor that property manangement used to conduct the window replacement job used some very low quality caulk to fill the gap between window frame and the wall.
I felt very sick after I stayed four nights in the room with window replaced even if I kept the room ventilated. After I checked out with the contractor, it turns out that the caulk they used contains some toxic substance like xylene, which is proved to be carcinogenic on long-​term exposure. The contractor used the same type of caulk to replace windows of other apartments of windscape as well. I was unlucky to inhale this toxic substance but was lucky to move out as soon as possible because my lease ends in less than 20 days. There is no guarantee that the caulk will not gas off this toxic pollutants slowly in the future. If you care about your health and life, don’t lease here.
Just want to give a WARNING to current leasers or any potential leasers.

Was charged a late fee of $ 50 when I had paid on time for months, never paid late before. I paid on a Monday and management told me that if I had paid on Sunday I wouldn’t have been charged a late fee. I told them that even if I had paid on Sunday that the bank wouldn’t have processed it until Monday anyways. They just want to take money from hard working, polite tenants. Not to mention that after this dispute I came home to 20 police officers outside my apartment investigating shots fired in a domestic dispute in an apartment next door… Have lived at glenmuir and Brookdale lakes before, never had a problem at either location.

We just moved out of Windscape and here are the pros and cons in my book:
Pros
Super friendly office and maintenance staff– we had great experiences working with them. Gus, the head maintenance man, is awesome! We are going to miss him. My daughter loved waving hi to him every time he passed by on his cart. They were also good at responding promptly to maintenance requests.
They are an honest company– this wast second time renting a place from bh management and I have been impressed with the way they run their business. I have had horrible experiences with apartment companies in the past getting my deposit back and having them claim things that were broken or not cleaned when they totally were. This company has been great and very timely with getting refunds back and not giving me bogus charges upon moving out. I truly appreciate that in an apartment company.
Can’t beat the location! Easy access to the Metra, downtown Naperville, parks, schools… pretty much everything.
They are truly pet friendly– no bogus charges at the end of your lease, simple pet deposit and rent policies, and lots of areas to walk your dog.
Cons
While I know you pay for location, these apartments are in need of a major overhaul. They are old and they definitely show it. They’ve been painted over so many times that the paint sticks to your furniture and pictures in layers when they’re up against the walls for long periods of time. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets stick because of the paint too. Also, the lenoleum in the kitchen and bathrooms were not installed properly and there are huge gaps in between some… yuck when you have a toilet overflow… Ewwww.
So I have two young children so I’m not expecting neighbors to be super quiet all the time because we are certainly not the quietest but we had neighbors who would seriously blast their subwoofers so loudly, they would rattle our wall and this often occurred later at night. Not cool. I get that apartment living just comes with a certain amount of noise but it was a bit ridiculous at times. Also, we lived on the first floor and I’m not sure if it was just our particular neighbors upstairs but it sometimes sounded like they were bowling above us walking around it was that loud. They need to put in some better sound proofing.
All in all, we did ok at Windscape. By the end, we were definitely ready to move but that was partly because we were a family of 4 squished into 950 sq. ft. It was good for what we needed, temporary housing until we got our barring after moving from out of state.

Don’t lease here. Stephanie the leasing agent has poor customer service. The apartments are old and there’s much nicer apartments in Naperville for a little more per month.

I decided not to get an apartment here so I don’t have an insider’s perspective, but I did get a showing of several units. I found the exteriors of the buildings to be somewhat on the shabby side, and highly disliked the exterior, backless, wrought iron staircases that lead to 2^nd floor units. I can see no good coming of that when the rain, ice or snow starts to fall. The interior of the units also did not thrill me at all.
That all said, I thought that the service in the club house was outstanding, all of my questions were answered, and the amenities were great. This place was just not for me.
