Description

Specialties

The Learningworks Foundation, Inc. supports community-wide and other activities that involve real learning. This includes science programs, weather camps, math camps and more. We work to help young adults discover their true interests (especially in science) through engaging activities, mentorships, internships and related experiences (local and national).

Currently, The Learningworks Foundation, Inc., helps to coordinate the National Weather Camp Program involving more than a dozen camp sites (universities, museums, science centers and 4H sites). The Foundation also works with several professional national weather organizations and private companies to help camper graduates attend national weather conferences.

History

Established in 2013.

When I learned about national camps, it involved six university sites under the auspices of Howard University (Washington, DC). While running the camps at Howard and helping coordinate the other five sites, it became easy to expand the model to bring other locations into the program. Now, with more than a dozen camps in operation (and several more sites clamoring to join the program), oversight for the total camp program had to become part of a not-for-profit (501c3) organization. hence, The Learningworks Foundation, Inc., was born in 2013.
