A Brandt & Son

I really enjoyed shopping at A Brandt and Son. They have a website with multiple photos of their pieces so that you can see ahead of time what you are looking for. They have sizing and pricing info that make it very simple to narrow down your options. I found a gorgeous antique opal ring for my engagement ring. It is so beautiful. I am a waitress, and all of my customers stop me and ask where I got such an exquisite piece. I already knew it was my size, and when my husband and I went to the store, we were please that the sizing was exact and it fit. The store is small, but packed with special and high quality items. The sales team was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back when I need to buy something special.

I wanted an estate piece for my engagement ring. A Brandt was so helpful. They were willing to take the center stone out of a ring so that we could use a family diamond. I also found an adorable wedding ring here for $ 200, which was engraved and really unique. They have a variety of styles and seem to have a loyal local following as well. We live near NYC, and they were much less pretentious than the jewelry stores here.

I was selling estate jewelry I’d inherited. As advised I found a few places that bought estate jewelry and took my stuff to them all to get bids. The jewelry business is funny, there was a range from fun to creepy and cheap to fair. I am glad to recommend Annette and her son Élan as being the most fun to deal with as well as the most fair as far as their bid on the lot. They were the only place that saw value in some pieces as ‘jewelry’, not just scrap gold, and were willing to pay a small premium on those pieces. They also appreciated a few silver pieces for their jewelry interest as opposed to the others that didn’t even want to look at silver, no matter how interesting the pieces. I’m happy to know a few pieces will find new owners who will appreciate them as well as feeling I was treated very fairly and professionally. If you are selling estate jewelry, include A Brandt & Son in your list of dealers to get a bid from.

A Brandt & Son is a wonderful jewelry store! I came in just for a repair on a watch, but ended up browsing their amazing collection. All of the staff was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the pieces that I asked about. Although I did not purchase anything they still provided me with great customer service. My repair was done on a timely matter, something that many jewelry repair stores struggle with. I look forward to shopping for jewelry there in the future!

Fabulous in every way! I have been to A Brandt and son multiple times for jewelry repairs and after perusing the website and finally purchased a beautiful gold ring from Bonnie. She was knowledgable, knew exactly what I wanted and helped guide me through the process along with the other associates in the store that day. I would highly recommend them for their customer service, patience and attention to detail.

I lost my engagement ring three days before my wedding, and didn’t get a replacement until two years later. I wanted to save some money for a nice ring. This time, I decided to go for a unique ring rather than a plain solitaire like my first. I found this store online and saw a few rings I really liked, so I decided to go in with my husband (this happened in Jan 2012).
The lady who helped me try on rings is middle-​aged and quite reserved. She seemed a little stand-​offish but was courteous enough. Élan was very helpful and affable, and he wasn’t pushy at all. I was so excited with the ring that I settled with, we got it right then. Post ring purchase, Élan was still chatting up with my husband, making lots of smalltalk, which I gladly joined in. I thought it was really funny that the middle-​aged sales lady actually looked VERY irritated at Élan (for «wasting» time and talking to customers?). Anyway, it didn’t bother me that much, but it was strange.
I’m still giving A. Brandt and Son 5 stars because I love my ring! Since I got it, so many friends and even strangers have commented on how beautiful and unique it is. Incidentally, a friend of mine who got engaged earlier this year bought her beautiful ring there too. We were so excited when we found out we got our rings at the same store. Her ring was custom-​made though, it was a diamond and sapphire platinum ring. Again, gorgeous!

My fiancé and I bought my gorgeous engagement ring here! I knew that I wanted an antique piece with very explicit attributes (OEC in square setting, hand-​engraving in the band, delicate with rockin’ porportions). I did a LOT of online viewing and went to over 20 jewelers in person.
We flew up to PA for a weekend to see family and they graciously opened the store to me outside normal business hours. I fell in love with the ring. My (now) fiancé went in a few weeks later and he found another ring he liked as well that wasn’t listed on the website yet. Staff graciously sent him tons of photos over the next few weeks so that he could ask trusted family members for opinions. He eventually decided on the ring that I loved and the ring was quickly resized and sent overnight mail down to Atlanta.
I have had my beautiful engagement ring for a few months now and love it just as much as I did on the first day I saw it!

I am so happy with my experience at A. Brandt and Son! We made the trip from center city not knowing what to expect. I am so glad we took the chance! First of all, it is located in such a quaint town! Parking has never an issue and at this point we’ve been there three times. It’s street metered and all you need is a quarter. It is right down the street from the train station (in case you use septa). Anyway they had a nice selection of rings in our price range. My fiancé settled on a ring from the 1880s that looks brand new! The staff accommodated his proposal plans and helped him purchase the ring even though the store was closed for vacation! They were also very helpful when I needed a repair. They covered the cost without the blink of an eye. I will always remember this special shop in when I think of my engagement. Their selection is so unique and beautifully displayed, I look forward to shopping for jewelry there in the years to come!

My fiancée & I started and ENDED our search for an engagement ring at this family owned business. My personal expectation was to get a better understanding of the various options for engagement rings, I didnt realize how many variables were involved in ring shopping!
However, my anxiety was lessened & i never felt overwhelmed because of the helpfulness of the staff. Élan, which I presume to be the son, was informative about the various collection of rings & educating me about ring characteristics, my fiancée was much more informed than I of course.
We were very fortunate because my fiancée found the one she fell in love with, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. Between the friendliness, patience & product knowledge of the staff and their collection. what I assume to be a difficult process turned out to be not so difficult. I would consider going back and recommending this place to friends

My boyfriend and I were excited to visit this shop after seeing how many great antique engagement rings they have on their website. We drove an hour from to get there and were the only customers there. We were initially helped by a very nice young woman who happily chatted with us and pulled out the rings I wanted to see.
Then Charlotte came back to work and the experience became memorably awful — read through this entire review to see just how bad it gets.
The young woman said that she would pass us over to Charlotte because she was the real expert on rings. Charlotte disinterestedly asked, «What was your question?» I explained that I didn’t have a specific question, but that my boyfriend and I were simply looking for a ring. As I talked, she put away the rings I had already looked at and liked — and as I asked to see others, she immediately put them back in the case as soon as I was done with them. (Typically other jewelry stores keep the ones you are interested in out, so that you can narrow down your decision from there.)
As I looked at the rings, Charlotte stood there and said nothing. No information, no questions, no small talk, nothing.
I asked her to bring a tray of rings that was on the bottom shelf out so that I could look at them closer. She kept the tray on the counter, and as I leaned in and tried to pull the tray a little closer to better see the rings, she gripped it tightly with both hands in a frantic way, as if I was going to grab the whole tray and run! That was when I first started to feel insulted by the way Charlotte was behaving… but it got so much worse.
At this point, we had been there about 10 minutes, and I had found a few rings that I liked, but had heard no information about any of them, and they were all back the case.
Then my boyfriend spotted a ring — and he suggested that I try it on. I said, «Sure, can I see that one?»
Charlotte responded «NO, it’s too big.»
It took a few seconds for the shock of that response to wear off — and the young man who was also working in the shop whispered to Charlotte «Just let them try it on.» Charlotte’s response was to literally stick her nose in the air and not to look at either my boyfriend or I. There have been few times when I’ve been so insulted.
My boyfriend and I immediately left the store, and the young man made a very half-​hearted attempt to say «Hope we see you again.»
They won’t see us again, but I hope they do see this review. Charlotte’s audacity to tell me what I can and cannot look at was beyond rude. She was obviously not interested in helping us the entire time we were there, and everything about her behavior told us that she was mistrustful of us. I tried to think about what made her feel that way about us — I was dressed the way I do for work (business casual), and my boyfriend was in khakis and a polo. I was carrying a $ 600 purse, and my boyfriend is a doctor. And black… Racism is one of those things that is very hard to prove, but very easy to feel. Charlotte made us feel plenty uncomfortable and discriminated against, and her DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF US MADE ME CRY ONCE WE LEFT THE STORE. That’s just how every girl shopping for an engagement ring wants to feel.
My boyfriend will be spending his thousands of dollars elsewhere, because Charlotte obviously isn’t interested in helping us or the reputation or bottom line of A. Brandt & Son.

I visited with my on multiple occasions to look at rings. Low pressure — Charlotte was wonderful. We took our time and felt valued every visit. The ring I wound up buying was from the 20’s; mine cut diamond and most importantly she loved it. This is a wonderful place to find vintage jewelry on the main line. Engagement rings priced from $ 1,500 to $ 150,000.

I wrote an original review dated 3÷22÷2012. My original review said (If you don’t live in Pennsylvania it is not safe to do business with them!!!) Annette B. of A Brandt & Son responded to my review on 3÷30÷2012. Her comments just reinforce the fact that they are not to be trusted. My purchase was totally refunded not by THEM, by others and this would not have happened if I made false accusations about their business. My accusations were not found to be fraudulent and dismissed as Annette B. of A Brandt & Son claims in her review. KNOW your jewelry! This company has a wide range of authenticity and it is in their favor.

My boyfriend and I visited this cool shop in search of an antique engagement ring. I saw several on their website I was interested in so we made a Saturday trip to the shop.
We were helped by Bonnie, who couldn’t have been nicer. I tried on a lot of rings and finally settled on a very unique art deco ring circa 1910, which we ultimately purchased.
I made a second trip to the store on my own to see the ring again and then a third trip to purchase it with my boyfriend. Each time we were greeted politely and helped sufficiently — they also gave us a 10% discount.
