History

Established in 2008.

The Academy of Make Up Arts is a private professional makeup school dedicated to providing quality education in the craft of make-​up artistry for commercial, advertising, photography, film, TV, video, wedding and events. The AMUA fulfills needs of both the beginner and the intermediate makeup artist. Our curriculum provides students with practical, real-​world skills in a format designed to maximize the learning process. Makeup is our business. With fast-​paced, hands-​on training we quickly launch makeup artists from our classroom to the set!

Business Owner

I am the School Director and Key Instructor at Academy of Make Up Arts. I have been working with cosmetics since 2002 where I began my career with Estee Lauder Companies. I studied Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2002 – 2006 earning my seat in the country’s most prestigious sculpture program. I attended a professional cinema makeup school in 2006 and have been working as a film, video, commercial, print and bridal makeup artist since then. I have worked with the likes of entertainment mogul Viacom and Playboy and am happy to share the know-​how with students who desire to begin or further their careers in professional makeup. I created Academy of Make Up Arts as part of earning my degree in Professional Studies at Middle Tennessee State University in 2010, opening the first State-​approved makeup school in Nashville since the 1980’s.
