Best clam chowder I’ve ever had! Fish and chips are awesome. Sushi is good and the Alfredo is on point! Only thing I’ve gotten and not cared for was the cocktail sauce. Service has always been excellent!

Referred to here from a local. Everything was delicious from the fried pickle appetizers to the sushi and oyster dinner! Great local IPA beer on tap. Can’t wait to go back

I have been to this restaurant about six times and every time it is wonderful! The food is delicious and I love that they have a such a wide variety. The staff is always extremely friendly and the service is prompt and efficient. I always stop in on a Tuesday for their half-price oysters and grab a cup of their delicious clam chowder. As someone who is born and raised in Santa Monica and has recently moved to Nashville, I have a pretty high standard for good sushi and seafood. This is one of the best places in Nashville, hands down. A glass of their house the riesling is lovely too. It is hard to believe some other people have reviewed this establishment with low ratings, I honestly believe that some people are never satisfied and find joy in complaining. Definitely check this place out, and don’t believe everything that you’ve read. Except for this, of course!

So I came here with my daughter while visiting from Houston a couple weeks ago. First note was the huge price difference in gulf oysters, which I suppose is somewhat understandable but at double what I usually pay, it was still outrageous. Next up sushi… while the fish tasted good, it was way too big of a portion. Add to that, the amount of rice, it just didn’t ring authentic to the palate. Lastly, the following several days my daughter was in bed sicker than I’ve seen her in years! I’m talking the full Monty… stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, chills and fever. Since I wasn’t sick, we pinpointed it to the Julia salad which is served with tuna tataki, goat cheese and tomatoes. It was the only thing we didn’t share. I suspect the tuna was the culprit. What’s worse is that when she went to speak to them several days later, they denied it could have possibly been the tuna since its ahi grade. Folks, if a restaurant won’t take ownership for food poisoning when we hadn’t eaten anywhere… RUN! Evidently these guys don’t realize even ahi grade tuna can spoil, the salad toppings could have been tainted or the goat cheese. This is the epitome of irresponsibility in the food and dining arena. You can count me OUT as a return customer!!! Plenty of other nice places with better management, and better food than this joint!!!

Batter’d & Fried was the way we went. Nice casual atmosphere, friendly staff. Our first time, we decided to try the favorite icon’s suggested on the menu. My favorite was the fried scallops. Other guest in our group enjoyed Chef Andy’s Fish & Chips, & Seattle Fish & Chips. The fried oysters were good but once again I experience sand in a few of my bites. The French fries were not good, but the Onion rings were very good!!. We wanted to try the Boston Cream pie but they ran out. We will have to return to try the Sushi. When in East Nashville would suggest you check out this family friendly spot. Parking can be a challenge but worth the experience.

In a mad dash and pure excitement on my lunch break one afternoon to chow down on some barbecue, I saw the sign and parked out front, assuming I was going to get some brisket and be fat and happy to finish out my work day. Once I was seated and began to browse the menu, I quickly realized I was NOT at a BBQ restaurant, but a fish house — surprise! I had already committed to being seated and ordered drinks, let’s see how this turns out. With all that being said, it was an absolutely enjoyable lunch that came as a complete surprise. The server was very attentive and had fantastic recommendations. My fish was fried to perfection, and the fried pickles for an appetizer were bomb af. It’s always a bit sketchy to order seafood in a place as landlocked at Nashville, but I didn’t get the vibe they would go cheap on their quality or freshness.

Ive been her twice now and both times were great. I’ve only had the sushi and it’s very good, a little heavy with the sesame seeds but other than that it’s a good selection and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. There’s not much parking, but the service is good and the beer is cold!

Oh my damn!!! This place is on point!!! The name was throwing me off because I am not a fan of battered fish… But oh my damn. It is not like that thin chicken batter, it is nothing like that. All I can really say is oh my damn. Please please please make it a point to go here. We had the fishermans platter, cod and haddock fish, jumbo shrimp, clams, oysters… Oh my damn. The service was wonderful and the food was excellent! Going back tomorrow!

I really appreciate their diverse menu. New England style seafood or sushi etc. the drinks have always been on point as well. Definitely a good place for a family where everyone wants something different.

An East Nashville oddity with a few bangers on the menu. Combine a sushi bar with a Boston sports pub, throw in some classic New England seafood and contain it all within a «sporty» 1980’s atmosphere. While you’re at it, take a gander at some of the cheesy photos of Wade Boggs and other athletes of yesteryear posted throughout the restaurant… ladies and gentlemen welcome to Batter’d & Fried. Oyster Tuesdays, yellowtail roll, scallops, and fried shrimp never disappoint. 8⁄10 a solid East Nash pitstop certainly with potential to be more, but I can’t argue with what it already is.

As a native New Englander I really wanted to like this place. And I was encouraged when the Boston(!!!) Clam Chowder not only passed the spoon test, but was served with real oyster crackers. There weren’t many clams and the flavor was meh, and sadly that’s where the food peaked. The clam strip basket I ordered was missing the french fries and instead of tartar sauce, it came with mayonnaise. That didn’t really matter however, because the clam strips themselves had been deep fried to just short of burned. Worse, it was clear these strips were the Sea Pak brand you could buy in the frozen food section of any grocery store. But that was nothing compared to the whole clams my wife ordered, which were clearly past their expiration date. It was as if they had gone from shell to fryer without being cleaned, and tasted like they had started to spoil. Since neither of us was willing to try again on the clams, I got the meatball grinder and my wife had the coconut shrimp. All I will say is they should have used some of the garlic from my tomato sauce and added it to her shrimp. Both would have been vastly improved. This would have been a one-star review if not for the efforts by our server Kara and the manager to make things right. They really tried, but the only thing that’s going to save this place is getting kitchen staff who care about what they’re doing.

Great, fast service. Cold beer. Excellent seafood! I’ve come so many times for sushi and seafood; it’s always excellent and fresh. Highly recommend! I usually come with a hankerin’ for fish and chips, the crispy kind, not the greasy kind, and they never disappoint. Fried shrimp that are juicy, not rubbery, and 4 kinds of fish with your fries. Plus, a dog friendly patio!

We went for Oyster Tuesday. Two, for the price of one. We also decided to have a roll or two. No alcohol, just rolls and oysters. Oysters were good, tasty, cold. We ordered a couple of Wave rolls and they were warm. no rice, just seafood. Delicious. Water glasses were constantly filled. Price was right. Food was fresh and made to order. It was exactly what we were looking for, at a price we couldn’t say no to. thumbs up.

3.5 It’s all about expectations. Who would have thought there’d be a divey New England-inspired restaurant/bar at the tip of East End? I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept so I avoided it for a while. That’s a mistake. For what it is, B&F is just what you’d expect and should satisfy your fried seafood needs quite nicely. Take advantage of the hot weather and sit outside on the patio. Disregard the sticky menu(remember, expectations) and start in with a beverage. Sure, you could opt for beer but the cocktails here are big and cheap(at least, they were on a Tuesday evening). The BTE cocktail was $ 6.50 of fruity light-headedness. I can dig it. As for the food, ya gotta keep it simple: seafood and something fried. I opted for the seafood burger and fries. The burger sounds like it should be a mess, but it works. It’s a patty made up of lobster, scallops, crab, whitefish, and shrimp — along with peppers and onions. I don’t know how they did it and I didn’t ask. But, that’s the burger. It comes with lettuce, tomato and garlic butter. And, that’s all you need. The burger is substantial, filling and scratches the seafood-loving/needing itch. The fries that come with… addicting. Who knew bay seasoning and vinegar could make potatoes so incredibly delicious? Well, you know now. Done. Paramount to enjoying your experience at B&F is setting your expectations and knowing what you’re getting into. Look around: we’re landlocked and in the south. That said, frying the ish outta things is almost always a hit. Get some seafood. Get something fried. Go for a big cocktail. Enjoy. I take no responsibility for any deviation from this plan.

I’ve gotta be honest… the name of this place kinda turned me off. I try to avoid fried and battered things, and I just didn’t have much desire to visit this restaurant. BUT I am so glad that I came here with friends who have visited before and recommended it. They didn’t lead me wrong. We started with the fried pickle chips… YUM! They didn’t last long. Then we moved on to drinks and I had a very delicious vodka mule that was served in a copper cup. Perfection! My friends raved about the sushi, and we ordered a roll and the boys had a platter of sushi which was HUGE. The sushi was legit. And I probably never would have ordered it had my friends not said it was so good. Who knew they’d have sushi at a place called Batter’d and Fried?! Also, they offered great service that was also fast! I’m so glad I stopped in and will give it another try when I’m on the East Side!

Great spot for fried fish. Crisp on the outside and perfectly flakey on the inside. The sushi is great as well, but they are really known for their fried fish.

Made me sick. When we first went in, it was very busy. They were quick to take out orders but it took forever for the food to come out. Plus they never once re filled out drinks so by the time we got our meal we had nothing to wash it down with. The people behind us never even had their order taken and ended up leaving after half an hour of no one tending to them. Me and my husband both had calimari which had no meat what’s so ever. All batter. When we got our main course it was the same. A lot of batter. By the time we left we both felt sick to our stomachs. The next day I ended up throwing up at work. Considering it’s the only thing we both ate together it’s reasonable to believe their sea food is what caused it. I wanted to like this place as we’ve heard so many good things. But I’m never going back.

I’d give this 3 ½ stars. I’ve been here and enjoyed everything I’ve gotten. They have a nice variety on the menu. The fried fish may be the best I’ve had, and the daily special is always delicious. A friend loves the oysters. The Boston Cream Pie is amazing. Though the veggie of the day is generally just ok. This is not a swanky place, and I like the neighborhood bar-type atmosphere. The service is ok — not amazing. One wish that would bring me here more often: everything on the menu being a few dollars cheaper!

I’m conflicted on this one, because it looks like they could use some more 4 star reviews, but I’m going to go with three for now in hopes the owner sees this and makes some necessary changes to get 4, or even 4.5 stars, because this place can do it. I sat in the bar after a Titans game and waited for a friend that was caught in traffic, and the bartender/waiter was very patient with me and had no qualms with me taking a 4 top so I could comfortably unload my motorcycle helmet and jacket(It wasn’t too busy or I would never have done that as I know how annoying it can be). The service was great. Your staff seem friendly and good at their jobs. Hold onto them. It could possibly help you hold onto them if you provided a decent bathroom. I don’t know if you’re going for a freezing cold, warped walled, Boston dive bar motif here, but that’s what you have — and it’s nasty, and it makes you question the cleanliness behind the scenes. The place needs a little more vibe. All you would have had to do was put some volume on one of the 2 football games on. The food. Your fried shrimp is perfect. I’m not really a coconut guy, but when I saw my roommates order I had to try it because it’s kinda rare that you see that perfect amount of breading with that slightly oily glow. They were really good. The fries were really good, too. The sushi — the sushi waaaaas… a good deal. I got two $ 7 rolls and they were tasty enough. The spicy tuna roll and the philly roll. As I went to the gross, freezing cold bathroom I passed by the sushi case and I would have to say that the fish is probably just fine, but not top notch. The tuna had that dyed look to it where it’s slightly too pink. It makes it so I probably wouldn’t venture into the $ 13-$ 15 rolls. Also, you did have one IPA on tap, and while I’d love a plethora to choose from, I’ve come to accept and be thankful for just one here in the south, so you get a pass on that. OHHH, the clam chowder. You actually can stick a spoon up in it, and I have to admit, it was one of the better ones I’ve had, and adding some pepper, or salt, or Tobasco, or oyster crackers didn’t make it any better. I tried each individually and straight up was the way to go for me. So in this day and age when people are tighter with their cash, and care more about where they are dining out, please just make a little more effort to stand out, and places like this will topple the giant corporations serving crap processed foods and overcharging for it.
