Fandamntastic. I go here at least once every ten days and they have not screwed up anything yet. Their specialty rolls are nothing short of lovely. Excellent service and hella kid friendly.

They just changed their menu and added a lot more. They got new management and everything is even better than before. Janice is the owner /manager and she is as sweet as can be. The sashimi tuna was soooo fresh and the shrimp teriyaki was stellar. We got ours to go and it only took 15 min. This will def be my new go to sushi place in this area.

I got it — Nashville is not the mecca of sushi… and Fujiyama proves it. I mean, it isn’t bad… it just isn’t great. Don’t get me wrong, the service was amazing and the speed that the sushi came out was lightening. The selection is also rather extensive, and you can get some pretty unique rolls going here… However, the sushi is pretty much the same quality that I would get at one of those fast sushi places in(fill in major metropolitan city). Oh, and this is not a date place what so ever. The lighting makes it seem creepy almost, and the interior is generic sterotypical sushi place. If your mother in law is in town — maybe…

So this place isn’t terrible but it isn’t good either. ANDDONOTGETTHISPLACECONFUSEDWITHTHEFUJIYAMAOFCLARKSVILLE. THEYARETWOCOMPLETELYDIFFERENTPLACES. THISISFUJIYAMANASHVILLE/ The atmosphere and lighting kinda has the feel of a cave. Not a deal breaker but not appealing. The sushi rolls in general seem to be as a rule priced a dollar or two above what you would get anywhere else in Nashville so that was a definite hit, which they could have made up for if the food was worth the extra few bucks but sadly it isn’t. What ends up happening is you pay a little more for sushi that in my opinion is a step or two behind my proffered sushi places of Nashville. Lastly, with literally only 2 other table in the place eating the server seemed way more concerned about texting on his phone than waiting on tables. I sat there an watched him text away after my girl friend and I had been clearly done eating for 10 minutes or more waiting for our check. I mean really dude? Right in front of the people that are waiting for their check?

I have eaten at this place once a week for the last year and it is easliy my favorite restaurant in Nashville. The sushi is great, but the entrees are even more impresive. You simply cannot find anything close to it in West Nashville. I saw some recent reviews where people said this place is no good, they are morons! Look at the vast majority of reviews and decide for yourself, believe a couple of idiots, or all the long term customers that absolutely love this place and actually go there on a regular basis.

This is the worst sushi I have ever had. When I dined here last week I ordered the spicy tuna roll and a yellowtail roll. The yellowtail tasted VERY old and boyfriend actually ended up not even swallowing the only piece that he attempted to eat. The spicy tuna looked like a scoop of orange mayonnaise wrapped in seaweed with something crunchy in the middle, not your typical spicy tuna. On top of all that, the ginger salads we ordered as appetizers were topped with ginger dressing that tasted very old. Nothing we ordered tasted fresh. We forced ourselves to try to eat as much as we could because were so hungry. We were the only people in the restaurant when we were there, and after dining there I realize it made perfect sense. Please do yourself a favor and do not eat at Fujiyama, you will regret it. Also, the host and«chef» were standing in the back of the restaurant watching a basketball game, seemingly not doing anything else, the entire time we were eating. The chef didn’t seem to be doing anything in the way of cooking or rolling sushi. The host stood around and occasionally looked at us to see if we were doing ok. Everything about our experience at Fujiyama was terrible and at times, awkward. These people have no idea what they are doing. At least they took the yellowtail roll off of our bill. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

I recently moved here from Chicago where great sushi is easy to find. We were craving sushi and Fujiyama is close to my apartment so we tried it on a Wednesday night. We were the only people there – bad sign. The presentation is very cool. We got a red dragon roll that looked like a dragon. But the taste was awful. Something was super salty – I think it was the soy sauce. The fish didn’t really taste like fish. Texturely it was off. We had the fried calamari, which was edible, but very bland. I stopped at Chick-Fil-A on the way home.

I really hate writing bad reviews. I really do. However, this place is a sorry excuse for sushi. We went there on afternoon when I was super tired and wanted to get some sushi. When we arrived at 5:00 p.m., we were the only ones at the restaurant. I ordered their spicy rolls special. All of them looked like a bunch of california rolls with ketchup on it. I literally had to force myself to finish my food because I felt bad about dragging my boyfriend around with my to eat here and not finishing the food. Not sure what people are picking out as «perfect presentation» either. We got all rolls on a flat white plate with nothing much(decoration wise) going on. The customer service was fine but really it was nothing memorable. We had come here previously, I want to say about 1 year ago. I remember the food being decent. Not sure what happened but there people need to step up their game. I would have given them another chance perhaps given the good Unilocal reviews, but my boyfriend refuses to go back there ever again.

Ooooooh yeah! Been a while since I had been here, hell I could’ve been married or whatever at the time but to say that this place has gone down in quality sushi would be an understatement! May I suggest their«specialty» rolls, outta this world! Accompanied by a nice bottle of Nigori Saki and POW! Outta this world delights to the senses!

Lots of good reviews for this place. Didn’t work out for us. Poor sushi and sad spring rolls. I’ll go back to Asahi on hwy 70.

Good lunch place to take the grandparentals… quiet, quick, not too pricey. The shrimp and salmon lunch boxes were both teriyaki’d to perfection, and were served with a california roll, miso soup, salad, and rice. My sashimi was totally overpriced for the quality of the fish(then again, we are in Tennessee), but the lunch boxes were a cute, filling option that both gram and gramp seemed to enjoy. «Except for all that rice… what am I going to do with all that rice? I’d definitely eat that last.» — Gramma

As I’ve heard many say… Nashville lacks good sushi places. Fujiyama was decent but not over the top. The prices per roll were comparable to other places I have tried. One Unilocaler mentioned the sushi rice was sweet, and I did notice that. It wasn’t too distracting though. I also got udon noodle soup that was loaded with noodles, mushroom, and vegetables. It was ok. I appreciated the good service, but considering my husband and I were the only customers in the restaurant… it was to be expected. The décor is nice, and it seems like the restaurant is really trying to get its name out there, but I have still yet to be wowed by Nashville’s sushi. My journey continues.

My daughter and I are in Nashville for the weekend and sushi is our thing. We’ve been checking out Unilocal for sushi advice and found Fujiyama. It was an early dinner, so there were only a few other tables seated. My daughter had the Rainbow Roll and I had the Tiger Roll. Beautiful presentation for both dishes.(We put in the pic of the Rainbow Roll.) I thought the Tiger roll was very good. My daughter didn’t really care for her Rainbow Roll though. We switched plates halfway through. Her fare was lighter than mine and I liked it, but she later told me that there was a flavor in the rice that she immediately didn’t like. The Tiger Roll has less rice than the Rainbow Roll, so if I hadn’t had half of her dish, I might have thought I just didn’t have enough to taste it, but I enjoyed both the Tiger Roll and the Rainbow Roll. I don’t think this is a good or bad, I believe it’s up to the diner. The staff is genuinely friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting. The whole experience was very pleasant and I know we’ll stop in next time we’re in Nashville.

I feel bad that I can not give Fujiyama more than 3 stars because I used to LOVE this place. I used to come so often and crave coming here, thinking it was the best sushi in Nashville. Then, I had a bad experience. How does that happen? Why did their quality go WAY down? I always ordered the California roll dinner, which came with 3 rolls, with huge pieces of sushi and a soup or salad. It was very filling since there was so much. I always thought that was a good thing since usually when I eat sushi, I am hungry 10 minutes later. Last time I visited Fujiyama, I ordered a Philadelphia roll and California. Yikes, the sushi was kind of warm. Warmer than I prefer raw fish to be, which kind of freaked me out a little bit. The taste didn’t seem to be quite right. Whenever I have a bad experience with sushi, even after all the awesome ones, it scares me to go back. It didn’t make me sick or anything, but it just wasn’t good. I feel terrible to say that I probably won’t be returning any time soon, since there are so many better sushi places that Nashville has to offer. But since this is one of the closest to my house, I may give them another chance.

Let’s be honest: sushi in Nashville isn’t very good… however Fujiyama’s sushi selection is pretty darn good. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant has cool tatami rooms for larger groups, and the sushi presentation is beautiful! I’ve been to other more ‘upscale’ sushi restaurants in Nashville, and found them to be overpriced and REALLY Americanized(I even got hard rice on a few rolls at Virago. eew). I’ve traveled to Japan and have lived on the West Coast, so I’m pretty picky about where I eat my Japanese food — especially sushi!

I live near Fujiyama, so by default I drop by once in a while. Fujiyama has the BEST sushi presentation in Nashville. Dragon rolls with green fan tails and carved lemon dragon heads. Splashes and dots of colorful sauces. Multi-colored tobiko and masago accents. Note that you only get these works of art on special roles in the $ 10 range. GREAT vegetable soup. Tired of Miso? Try this. i could have a nice meal with a double order of this soup, just by itself — well ok, not quite alone: I always add a health dose of Tagarashi. Good(not great) Udon. What happened to the good old days when Udon came in a GENEROUS iron kettle? Everyone has switched to medium-sized bowls. Sushi. What can I say? It is good sushi, but not great sushi. I would call it average for Nashville. The rice is often too soft. The fish is always fresh, but has never«wowed» me. Sometimes rolls come with eel sauce without warning. I think they have started putting some tempura crunch in their spicy tuna mix. A practice that I never liked. Maybe it would be better if they added the crunch when they make the roll, but when they mix it in with the chopped fish and spicy mayo in advance, the crunch is gone making the tuna mix pasty. It seems more like a filler than a compliment. I prefer spicy tuna to be just good tuna and spicy mayo. Eel. They love eel. I would guess that 50% of their«special» roles include eel. If you are an eel lover, you are going to be in heaven. Me, I like eel, but it seems a bit too pervasive on the menu. Overall, the décor and service are quite good, but with the very average sushi, a three star experience is about the best that you can expect.

I would have never known about this place if it was not for Unilocal.I went here after reading so many positive things on Unilocal. The average rating on Unilocal is 4 stars. Well, I was disappointed. I went here right after Christmas and was disappointed at the quality of sushi at this place. I had Alaska roll in which the quantity of salmon was hardly detectable but that is not my major concern. My biggest problem with all the sushi was the rice. There was this weird taste in the rice. Now, my question is how hard it is to get the rice in sushi right. Well, actually, I have heard that it is actually very difficult. That is right, getting the rice done right is more difficult than getting the fish right. I had tuna, salmon and mackerel nigiri and while the pieces were pretty generous, the quality was not very impressive. But this was right after Christmas when the restaurant was closed for two days. Maybe it has something to do with it. While the quality of sushi here is not to my standards, the prices are high for what they have to offer. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is because the place was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was out and about in the area and saw this place up on the hill. It was either sushi or the taco bell/pizza hut place. Well I decided to go with my gut and that was to eat healthy. Who said raw wasn’t good for you? lol I was a little skeptical because the place was empty but the atmosphere was very cozy. The staff was friendly and attentive as well! They had me at hello! Very good sushi!!! So pretty I contemplated on if I should eat it! lol I ordered a volcano roll and eel with avacado and cream cheese. Talk about it was fresh and flavorful! The eel sauce was different and had a unique taste unlike any other eel sauce I have ever tried. Planning to go back tomorrow! :)

I am definitely a fan of Fujiyama. It may not be the best of the best in town but the food is very good and they are consistent. I love their tonkatsu(which is always very tender) and their tempura chicken(its like the best chicken strip you’ve ever had covered in crunchy panko crumbs). I can’t really comment on the sushi since I’m not a sushi eater, but the chef definitely likes to have fun with the presentation of the dishes. My husband thinks the sushi is delicious and always comes back for the spicy dragon rolls. They are a little on the overpriced side but its not too bad(minus one star). The décor is very minimal but the servers are always friendly and the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend eating here if you’re in the area.

I’m used to being able to write down my choices and hand it to the sushi chef or waiter. Fujiyama doesn’t seem to be set up to allow for this and It makes ordering more awkward trying to remember all the different numbers. The sushi itself was good and the service was fine. I’m happy to have another good sushi place to visit.
