I was very pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! I was even more thrilled with the atmosphere and staff. Every table has an outlet, also. Just perfect!

I love Nomzilla! I find the diversity of the recipes absolutely unique and delicious! I fell in love with the Thai Kara-Age appetizer! Service is always very friendly~ Definitely check it out! Very cool Asian fusion place in town! I’m a regular now, haha!

Went for the sushi. Will come back for the bola bola(Philippino meatballs). The cocktails were the most exceptional part of the place. The bartender(I think her name was Sarah) was super friendly and knowledgable about the menu(s). Would highly recommend.

Excellent modern sushi. Several rolls that I’ve never encountered and very fresh sushi. I highly recommend and I’ll be back next time I’m in the opreyland area.

Definitely one of my new favorite sushi restaurants in Nashville. Immediately when you walk in, you realize they have a great atmosphere. Classy with a touch of hard core. The food was delicious and served promptly– and at a decent price I might add. I loved that they had a variety of Japanese and Korean tastes. If you like Kimchi, definitely try the kimchi Bloody Mary. The best part of the experience came from our waiter, Tim. He answered all of our questions and steered us in the right direction. He was always good about checking in and was a great conversationalist. At the end of the meal Chris, the MIT, came out and greeted himself and ensured our visit was a pleasant one. Overall, we will be back and will strongest recommend. I look forward to our next visit.

About the«et cetera» –there are plenty of offerings on the menu. Both the Caramelized Pork Congee and Bola Bola were outstanding! I ordered via the OrderUp app, so we can’t really speak to ambience, etc. I will definitely be ordering again soon though. like, probably tomorrow! It was just That good.

I’d say it was okay at best. The gyoza was somehow dry on the inside, and the roll the server recommended really wasn’t good. The ingredients were fine, but it was just a bad combination. Felt like they were trying too hard to think of a themed roll and not actually thinking of the flavors together. That being said, our dragon roll was really good. Also, if you want truly spicy edamame, this is your spot!

Came here tonight for date night. Ordered the gyoza for an appetizer, its was good. Also got the Bakers Twin Roll, crunchy shrimp and Nash-Vegas Roll-my new personal favorite. For dessert we had the brownie with green tea ice cream and it was delish! Service was great, we were greeted and seated immediately when we arrived. We got there around 5:45pm on a Friday night. Atmosphere was pretty cool with intimate lighting. Def will visit again. Nom Nom!

This was a pretty gnarly meal. Judging by my lunch today I’d say this place takes little to no pride in the food they serve. It wouldn’t be controversial to say that food really tends to benefit from the person preparing it caring about what they are making. There are some foods in this world that can be phoned in and it’ll be ok. A hotdog for instance. One needn’t put a lot of love into cooking a hotdog for the hotdog to be satisfying food. But sushi is not like a hotdog. With sushi, the line between mediocre and gross is pretty thin. Hats off to these guys for finding that line and straddling it. The fish was not fresh at all, it was cut and presented poorly; even the sushi rice tasted bad. I don’t generally come to Unilocal to write bad reviews, but I really thought this meal warranted it. On the plus side, the people working seemed friendly. It’d be great to have a good local sushi place, and it shouldn’t be that hard. Hire an actual sushi chef, get decent, fresh fish, and take some pride in your work.

I found good food, small portions, and a bit of a strange ambiance. I wouldn’t go out of my way

Gyoza = 2 Drinks = 5 Soup/Salad = 4.5 Twins Roll = 4.5 Corona Roll = 3 Service = 5 Atmosphere = 4.5 Area = 3 Overall = 4 Definitely give it a try! A nice upgrade for the Old Villa place location.

It’s hard to give a solid rating for this place since I had tea, soup and a salad. The soup — typical Miso with good flavor albeit luke warm. The salad — fresh, delicious ginger dressing with sesame seeds. The tea — from High Garden and served in a beautiful tea pot. My husband’s sushi looked fantastic. Our waitress was prompt and helpful. We will back to try drinks and more sushi later!

My girlfriend and I went here to switch things up from our usual Koi trip. So I personally am going to compare. I’ll start with the positive, the sushi was awesome we had the dancing ell roll(which was the special $ 5 roll that night), crunchy shrimp roll and the Nash-Vegas roll. I would go back again but not often due to a couple of personal negatives. The first turn off is the selection of sushi, I wish there was a little bit more. Koi to some has too much, but I feel Nomzilla does not have enough. The second turn off is the price point. I can get most of those rolls at Koi for a lower price and they have more selection. I feel the quality is equal but that is only my opinion. Koi and battered and fried both have crunchy shrimp rolls for much less. I don’t mind paying more at all, if the quality is superior to other places. It was still really great sushi, but why go here when I can get the same stuff for less. ** I’d like to add I eat at koi sometimes twice a week so I am obviously a koi fan but I do like to give new places a try. I would go back again but would not go here often.

The food here is not terrible. And if all you want out of a restaurant is «not terrible» then you’ll most likely not hate this restaurant. On the other hand, if you believe(as I do) that ambience and service are as important as the food… well, keep reading. First a caveat: This restaurant is new. And that’s what everyone kept reminding us — from the host who(hopefully) has a day job he’s better at – to the bartender who was(thankfully) actually good at her job. Service was… strange. The food took a long time to come out(45 minutes from the time we ordered to eating) but the really strange parts didn’t have anything to do with food. We walked in and the host told us it would be 40 minutes for a table. So we asked if we could sit at the bar. He said the bar had the same wait. We said we would go ahead and wait. He asked if we’d like to wait at the bar. Um… okay? He handed us a drink menu & waved us across the room toward the bar. We asked if he’d like to take our names for the wait list. He asked us if we’d like to eat at the(completely empty) bar. Wait? Isn’t that what we asked for in the first place? Weird. So yeah, we ate at the bar. The bizarre host then came up to us later — before we even got all our food — and asked us if we’d like to go ahead and pay. Weird times 100. We informed him that we’re not in the habit of paying for food we haven’t yet received, in a restaurant we’re not ready to leave, to a person who was not our server. Did I say it was weird? I meant what the WHAT? Speaking of weird… a completely different waitress came up to us(at the bar) 30 minutes after we’d sat down and ordered(from the bartender, as is the custom) and asked us if we were ready to order. Um… no? For her part the bartender also seemed totally shocked by the behavior of the wait staff, which was sort of comforting if nothing else. And speaking of weird again… there is a complete branding disconnect between the name & signage of this restaurant and the way it looks inside. Fun, wacky name & sign versus a sleek, white(ish) interior. Nothing wrong with either vibe, just in no way do they belong together. Weird. Just weird. But in spite of the crazy wait staff — would it kill the owner to dress them in all black so there’s some kind of consistency in wardrobe? One server was wearing shorts for the love of god. In spite of all the general weirdness, the food was not terrible. I suppose if you’ve never had sushi in a city like LA or Miami then you’ll probably like this place. It’s definitely on par with the sushi place in Battered & Fried, which is to say it’s not terrible. And it wasn’t crazy expensive. We paid about $ 90 for 5 rolls and 2 glasses of wine. And it’s convenient. We’ll do almost anything not to have to leave East Nashville if we don’t have to. So for all those reasons I hope this place works through their service issues and becomes a lasting part of the neighborhood. We probably won’t bother again, but I hope you do.

First off this was my second visit, first at lunch. I’ll admit the food hasn’t wowed me but I haven’t tried but 4 or 5 menu items. It’s decent, but pricey. Attention to detail is my issue here. We were sat in a corner booth of an empty dining room. She’s staring at a wall and me at more booths. The beer was served in a water glass. The music, oh the music. It was 90’s hits ranging from punk to hip hop. We heard«two princes» followed by «insane in the membrane» followed by some Mariah Carey. Yikes. Half of our plates and bowls had chips all over the edges. It was freezing. The décor isn’t fun like you would assume from the branding. It’s white walls and white chairs and a white bar and white tables. Then my girlfriend noticed what she was staring at. This particular wall wasn’t white, it was some sort of mural of a blown up image of a head. Stick with me. It’s what I assume is the owners head, who was in the restaurant at the time. He has tattoos on top of his shaved dome, and it’s ten feet tall on the wall with phrases like«I am the master of my own fate» or some nonsense like that. Tiny hair follicles blown up 500 times right in our faces. Who’s hungry! The image was almost as unappetizing as the ego that’s behind it.

Very cool spot and we were welcomed immediately when entering into the restaurant. Out server William was great and very attentive to our questions. We enjoyed several rolls unique to us one was Quackmire and one was the hottest I have ever had! The salmon appetizer was fresh and presented nicely. The with had a lemongrass cocktail that is now her summertime drink. I would have given 5 stars but just a little too much rice for me. The other thing with all the effort placed in making this a great spot would be real pickled ginger that is not pink. Minor details to otherwise great meal! Thanks again to William and the culinary staff for a great night out!

I’m writing this review to counteract the woman that was sitting next to us here. She complained about her dish before she ate it. Yeah, don’t ask. However, we loved this place. The sushi is good and it’s not too expensive. The building is nice to. The service is amazing. We broke a glass and the server was very cool about it. All the rolls were good. My favorite was the Red Eye.

The sushi was delicious! Loved the Über Cali roll and the Corona roll. But… The waitress could have waited till we were finished with our meal, or even close to finished, before she brought us our bill. We all had sushi in our mouths and full glasses of wine when she brought her iPad thingy for us all to swipe our cards. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the manager and were greeted with excuses rather than apologies. They have some serious work to do on customer service before they become a Nashville mainstay.

Yummy Yummy Nom Nom Nom. Seriously the food here is delicious. The miso is on par with the best I have had. The Panko Salmon roll was yummy. The Charasi was really good with the pickled bits of stuff. The crab and yellowtail was on par with best I have ate. The salmon, shrimp and tuna were better than average. My son had the pork congee and omg it was really really good. The slight drawback is the price. It is cheap at all but you get what you pay for in this instance. For example it has two ten jack prices but it was better.

Possibly the best sushi I have ever had. The food and décor are both amazing. I’ll be back very soon!
