Paige Prather Smiles

Best dentist I’ve ever been to. I never wait for appointments– just show up, check in, and you’re taken back. The whole staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and they take the time to explain everything they’re doing, the science behind it, and answer questions. I trust they don’t recommend anything I don’t need, and they’ve even some things at no charge as follow ups to try and root out a specific problem (that was not even bothering me). They explain price and your options and will work with you on a way to get the treatment you need. I’ve recommended several friends and coworkers here and they all love it too.

I know that a lot of times, reviews can sound fake but I like to think that when a business or someone deserves credit, you should take the time to do so.
I am one to really care for my dental health. With that being said, I have had a hard time finding a dentist who can compare to my aunt who is a dentist and who took care of my teeth for years. When I moved to Nashville, I met with a lot of dentists who in the end were not a good fit for me. Luckily, I ran across Dr. Prather, who not only is an amazing professional but also, an amazing human being. You genuinely feel that she cares about you and your health. Also, she finds people like her to work with her. Her staff is an extension of her amazing care and knowledge.
I no longer work close to her office but still make the drive to Green Hills to continue seeing her.

Dr. Prather and her entire staff are fantastic. I appreciate how they are always able to accommodate my needs even when unexpected things, such as a filling falling out in the office happen.
I see Chelsea as my hygienist, and she is wonderful. Chelsea is very patient, knowledgeable and up to date on recent research and updates. I especially appreciate the focus on preventative dental care, instead of waiting for a serious expensive problem.
I am so glad to have found a great dentist and team that I can trust!

I would normally not write reviews — but I guess this is called for. I have been a patient of Dr. Prather for almost 2 years now (due to the convenience of her clinic’s location from my place of work). I have no doubt about Dr. Prather’s expertise and that the clinic itself has up-​to-​date facilities. The place looks nice and they offer wine and treats while you are waiting. But like the other commenters, I felt overly charged and have been burdened beyond what is necessary to have a good dental service.
What compelled me to look for another provider is the clinic’s manipulative practices and unwillingness to work with me to properly straighten out my account (despite the amount of money $$$ that we brought in). Last year, we were billed several times for the same treatments. The clinic’s response was because my insurance companies would not pay so they had to resend it over and over again. Apparently, our primary health provider paid but was also billed several times for the same treatments, which made it all the more confusing. Because we were advised by the insurance company that the treatments were paid, and still we are receiving the same bills, we were not sure which ones we really owe and how much. In the middle of settling the billing brouhaha, we were sent to collections!!! I sat down in the dental office to figure this out and paid them as they requested. From Paige herself, she said that they would normally overcharge clients because insurance companies would sometimes not cover certain procedures even though the insurance plan says it’s a covered treatment. After receiving payment, the clinic will credit back to the clients what they paid above the total cost of treatment. I never received any credit back.
I came back for some soreness in my gum recently, fearing that I might be a subject for root canal. The clinic would not prescribe me any antibiotic unless I reserve a schedule for the treatment by paying them half of my root canal fee in advance (two weeks before the schedule) which was $ 547. A week later, I received a bill from them for $ 61. I explained I have 2 insurance companies, one is primary and the other one is for dental, which would cover all the costs of the visit. Then again, the reason why they billed me was because the insurance company has not paid yet. Lindsey, the Finance Person, explained that they only bill 1 insurance company. Because it is «costly» and «time-​consuming for [them] to bill another insurance company» they stopped doing the practice. «The patient can do it all on her own,» so she says. What I owe them is only $ 41 because the primary insurance provider would only pay $ 20, but since they are yet to receive payment, they billed me the entire thing. I need to call my other insurance company so they can pay the remaining to the clinic… Essentially, I was told by the staff to do the work they are being paid for… What happened to my credits?
With the rates that the clinic charges for different treatments, I would expect a certain level of courtesy to work with me on my dental plan especially if we have brought good business in. Don’t get me wrong, staff is extremely nice when you are bringing business in, and Paige is really good at what she does. I would have a different review then if the clinic was open to running an extra mile and give me the right feeling of choosing them as a provider. I am extremely offended when the Finance Person herself told me that I am «more than welcome to choose a different dental provider.»
Why sure! I went for a consultation with a different dentist then (who has been in business for 30 years!). My new dental provider gave me antibiotic prescription right away for my root canal, will only bill me $ 50 for my dental work initially, and bill me later once they receive all the payments from my insurance companies. Best part is, the entire thing would cost less than half of what Prather’s clinic would bill me for.
After my session with the new dentist, and the verbal slap I got, I realized all the manipulative practices the clinic did — I felt they were just interested about how much dental work can be done, make as much sales off me by making me buy different dental knick-​knacks (mouthwash, waterpik, bleaching thing, etc.) and charge me at maximum every time I visit. Well the good part is that they offer several financing options… But if you have good dental insurance, find the clinic that will work with you and your plan, not stress you out, and would not send you to collections while you are working with them on their errors!
This review pertains to the clinic in general and not about Paige herself or her family. She is a very sweet, caring and nice person, and so is her husband. I have no doubt about her capabilities as a dental professional, I just hope that the clinic is really true about treating the patients right.

Before seeing Dr. Prather I was horrified to go to the dentist due to many bad experiences. However, Dr. Prather and her team have gone way out of their way to make me feel very comfortable and have helped change my perception of going to the dentist. Dr. Prather and her team always do an amazing job of explaining everything in a way that I can understand, which makes me feel like we have a great plan for my current and future health. Without the help of Dr. Prather and her team, I would have continued to jeopardize my health and not go to the dentist so I’m VERY thankful to them for helping me make this HUGE change in my life! I recommend Dr. Prather to everyone I know because her and her team are the real deal and they will continue to make a positive impact on our community!

From cleanings and a filling, to an extraction. Paige Prather Smiles has been on point. Noticeably my most pleasant dental experiences. The whole team is great, you’re in good hands.

I went to Dr. Prather for a couple of years, but eventually stopped because of a growing feeling that my wife and I were being overcharged in a variety of ways.
During a general cleaning, I requested that Dr. Prather look at my molars, as I was feeling a recurrent pain there. The inspection involved her putting on magnifying eyeglasses, looking at my teeth for what could not have been more than 1 minute, absolute tops, and then telling me that it was probably pressure from my wisdom teeth. This added an extra $ 60 to my charge for the day. During a cavity filling, in mid-​procedure, Dr. Prather told me she was going to be putting medicine on my tooth, to which I said «okay,» and that, too, added another $ 60 to my visit. Had the medicine, its benefits and its financial cost, been discussed with me before the filling, this would not have been a problem, but it felt a bit manipulative the way it played out.
To be fair, the facilities are impeccable and inspire confidence. The staff is perfectly friendly, and I have never had reason to think that they or Dr. Prather are at all unknowledgeable or unprofessional. And yet I grew to be quite offended at the way my family, who gave Dr. Prather fairly regular business, were repeatedly nickeled and dimed and treated as piggy banks to be shaken empty at almost every opportunity.

Horrible dental work. I made the mistake of having two old fillings replaced with white composite and Dr. Prather not only ruined my bite, but also caused me to need two root canals. I hadn’t had a single problem with my teeth for years and once Dr. Prather got in there, I had nothing but problems for months. My bite, which was always perfect, now doesn’t hit on my right side, thus throwing off all the muscles in my mouth and causing major jaw pain. I wish I’d never ever gone to see Dr. Paige Prather — he office is nice but her quality of work is poor. She needs far more training than she’s received. Do not go to this dentist. She is terrible.

Please, please, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to Dr. Prather. I never write reviews for places, but I feel so strongly against this place I had to create a Unilocal account just to leave this review. I gave Dr. Prather way too many opportunities to fix my teeth and she failed each time. I am now at a new dentist office in Nashville and am having to get all of the fillings (5 to be exact) Dr. Prather did redone. My new dentist (who had no idea which dentist I went to before) made several comments about how concerned he was about the state of my fillings and the job that was done on them. He was absolutely shocked at the poor job Dr. Prather did. Mind you, the fillings are only 1 year old. I recall being very much in pain the whole time Dr. Prather was working on my teeth and being in severe pain from the fillings for several months after. Don’t let the location, amenities, or sweet dental hygienists fool you. Not to mention, I was pressured to purchase their expensive tooth brushes, «special» mouthwash and toothpaste, and mouthguard from them every time I went!

Dr. Paige Prather has been my dentist since I moved to Nashville a little over three years ago and I have no regrets! She has always been very thorough in explaining everything to me. It shows that she takes great pride in her work and uses the most up to date «everything» to give the best care possible. I have switched from silver to non silver fillings and had well needed crowns put on. Dr. Paige Prather and the staff did great work and made the process smooth. She called to check in on me even! First time a dentist has ever done that.
Despite what the previous reviewer mentioned about being pushy, etc.- I have never experienced that. Period. I find Dr. Paige Prather and the staff to be very professional, genuine, kind, and passionate about what they do. Yes, crowns, other dental work, and some of the products they sell in office might seem pricey initially, but it is a small price to pay when you invest in your HEALTH early– saving you much more money in the future.
I am self-​employed, thus, I have to take care of all my own insurance. They offer various financing options to work with everyone’s needs. I would suggest Paige Prather Smiles to anyone looking for personalized and quality dental care!!!

I don’t recommend this place!
I went to Signature Smiles for a routine check up after not going to the dentist for a few years. In the course of the exam, they recommended I buy a waterpik and gingivitis treatment from them, get 2 cavities filled, get a crown, and get my wisdom teeth out. They also pressured me to do this under sedation. I was overwhelmed by all this because I was having no teeth pain and hadn’t expected this. I left and didn’t do any treatment.
A few months later (Jan ’14) my wisdom teeth were bothering me so I went in to see if I could get them out. When I went in, the dentist saw me for about 2 minutes, where she told me that I would still need all the treatments from before, and made me feel terrified that if I didnt do it soon, my teeth would all have to be pulled. When I expressed my concern about the price (over 2300) and told her I wanted to wait until I had better insurance, she assured me that insurance wouldn’t really make a difference, and waiting would be very risky. She then sent me to talk to the financial planner to see how to set up a payment plan. The financial planner talked very quickly and again pressured me in to getting all of the treatments. I told them I had to think about it and went home.
Not feeling comfortable with the whole situation, I decided to look up reviews of the dentist. While many were positive, there were just as many that validated my fears. These reviews basically said «the dentist recommended treatments I didn’t need, were pushy, charged too much, were not trustworthy». Feeling a bit nervous about spending so much money so quickly (they wanted me to come in that same week to get everything done at once) I went for a second opinion at a different dentist. The second dentist told me that I had no cavities and did not need a crown. He said that maybe in 5 – 10 years I would need a crown, but there was no need now. He did say I needed my wisdom teeth out, but instead of insisting I do the procedure at his office, recommended an oral surgeon. I came to the conclusion that at Signature Smiles they were just trying to scam me for as much money as they could, and were taking advantage of the fact that I was in pain and distress. Perhaps the second dentist just had a different opinion, but I certainly wont go back to signature smiles.

I’ve been going to Dr. Prather for about three years now. You may remember her as Dr. Paige Boone and her old location was on Church Street.
The new location off Richard Jones; beside Gold Skin Care is extremely nice. The amenities while you are waiting, the service and the in-​house creation of your crowns is an added bonus. They offer several Ala Cart services such as in-​house bleaching, cancer screening and fluoride treatments for a reasonable price.
All of the appointments can be booked and confirmed on-​line and your financial portion; i.e. what your insurance won’t cover is discussed and an entire treatment plan laid out including payment options should you be inclined.
They are very prompt to greet you and treat you; no sitting in a room waiting for hours. And speaking of waiting; you get your own television to watch while you are being treated and you control the remote!

If you’re not going to a dentist like Signature Smiles then you really don’t know what you’re missing! Here are some of my favorite things about them:
1– The office. It doesn’t look or feel like you’re going to the doctor. It’s more like visiting a friend’s house with a coffee bar, TVs and warm colors on the walls.
2– Availability. When I first went to Signature Smiles I was in serious pain. My wisdom teeth were coming in and I had an infection. Even though I was a new patient they realized I needed help and fit me in fr the very next day. I was so appreciative!
3– The best equipment. I had been visiting my family dentist my whole life. I had no idea how «old school» his practice was until I went to SS. I love the TV’s over the dentist chairs and Dr. Prather uses all of the latest dentistry tools and practices to make your dental work comfortable and fast.
4– Kindness. When I found out I had to have my wisdom teeth removed I was nervous. I had never been put under for ANYTHING and it worried me. I couldn’t decide if I wanted an IV or the gas so I called the office. Amanda sat on the phone with me and explained the differences in each option. She specifically asked me what my fears were and helped me to feel at ease about the choice I made. Her advice was great and I had a wonderful experience having my teeth removed.
The entire staff is so sweet and they really make an effort to get to know their patients. When I had my baby they all signed a card and sent it to my house– how sweet is that?! They are kind and professional. They go the extra mile for their patients because they understand that going to the dentist is not exactly something people like to do! I’m really happy to have found them and I recommend them all the time. They really are the best in Nashville!
