Planned Parenthood

The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that I sat there for 9 hours the day I was having a procedure. Everyone in the waiting room could hear the nurses behind the doors laughing and telling jokes while we were all waiting for our names to be called. Being that some people come here for some pretty serious things, you would think they would be a little more professional. This isn’t a drive through so I didn’t expect to be in and out, but 9 hours is a long time.

It is pretty bad when you go in for an abortion and the worst part of your day is the customer service. Everyone and everything about this place is bad. They are rude, they lie, they cannot schedule an appointment and be on time. Waiting over 6 hours for an appointment that was scheduled for 10 am… just mean.
Looking back I should have just used a hanger. Would have been easier and less traumatizing.

I have never been at a planned parenthood before but they had a yearly free pap test and I had no insurance and tried them. they aren’t overly friendly but I think its due to trying to keep confidentiality for each person. treatment was good and even though I had a fear of a pap test they made me feel comfortable (as possible) during it and I felt safe inside and outside of the location which isn’t the best area to be in. highly satisfied and would use again if I was in a situation and needed them

Conveniently located. Not hidden like some Planned parenthood locations so this is easy to find. The people are friendly. This is a great service to the community especially the uninsured who can’t afford expensive healthcare, young adults, women and families.
Definitely consider volunteering your time here and/​or using their services. Everyone should get a yearly HIV test. It’s free here. It’s not an issue of sexual orientation, race or whatever misconception there is out there. HIV can affect any individual who is not in a committed relationship who doesnt always uses condoms and even then, there is still some risk. The only way to be completely risk free is to not have sex but that’s impossible so be responsible and know your status! They also give free condoms. They do testing for std’s and they do counseling for options of adoption versus aborting a fetus. They also help people from getting in those situations (unwanted pregnancy) by prescribing birth control pills and also morning after pills for those who had a one time thing without a condom or rape victims… They offer counseling for sexual health and health in general and they offer breast screenings.
And preventing unwanted pregnancy is hugely a women’s rights issue but also involves all of the community (men and children) because a female having a child too early in life can prevent her from finishing high school or college and affects the quality of her life as well as her child’s for the rest of her life. Its a huge major event that will change her life forever and can be the deciding factor whether she will prosper or struggle. Also, older mothers are more inclined to emphasize on health and education for their children. And their child is more likely to be healthier and better adjusted. I’m not necessarily advocating for abortion or birth control, but more about the importance of knowing your choices, whether it be birth control, morning after pill, abortion, adoption, etc. And Planned Parenthood can educate people on choices and the issues while respecting all view points and individuals. I’ve found them to be caring members of the community who want all individuals to thrive.
I will say though, that if you do have insurance, it’s not necessarily more advantageous to come here since they bill you as specialists (gynecologist). Free HIV testing is obviously as good as it gets though. It’s a walk in thing and they’re pretty quick about it. Plus, if you ever need the morning after pill, it’s actually cheaper at planned parenthood than a pharmacy.
Lastly, note that Planned Parenthood serves not just women, but men too.

I’ve avoided writing this review for a two reasons:
1) Does everyone and their mother need to know where I get probed once a year? Fair warning, if you don’t want to know, don’t read any further.
2) The way we approach health care in this country is entirely screwed. I may preach a little bit in this review.
I don’t have health insurance and I have no interest in paying for it either through the government taxing me or by buying private insurance. I don’t rely on western medicine to treat most every day issues, as I’ve found numerous home and herbal remedies to treat almost everything I’ve had issues with more successfully and without nasty side effects, or resulting diseases and infections from a gross over use of antibiotics. I practice prevention not after the fact care. I’ll see a chiropractor or get a massage before I resort to painkillers, that sort of prevention is what I mean. But I’m not suggesting all can be cured at home, or even diagnosed properly. I certainly can’t stitch myself up or preform surgeries! SO there are some places I need a doctor, just not for the common cold or yeast infection.
I’ve come twice to Planned Parenthood for my annual exam and for my Pap Test. I have no issues of reservations telling doctors or nurses that I’m in the office for an exam, not for their treatment or advice on how to treat it. I’m not going to take their antibiotics or fungal medications and if they could just let me know what they see or don’t, I’d appreciate it. It’s amazing what happens when you present your case this way, they tend to talk to you like a human being and not some disease waiting to be conquered. You have control over your own body and doctors don’t always know best, but they tend to respect the folks who are very aware and connected with their bodies and knowledgeable about what’s going on with themselves.
The service at this planned parenthood is fast and efficient, everything is clean and everyone is very friendly. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or pressured here. AND JUST TO BE CLEAR I whole heatedly support what planned parenthood represents and stands for. It’s why I go to their clinic. I appreciate that they exist and can help those who are in sometimes scary scenarios for a reasonable fee. It’s easy to set up appointments confidentially and there is a ton of support waiting to be had at Planned Parenthood. Parking at this location is a breeze also.
