We had a great experience. Clean rooms, nice staff, excellent location. Would highly recommend!
However we didn’t have any issues that required attention from the staff as previous reviewers did so i can’t speak on the customer service.

Rooms are accessed through outdoor corridor and have large glass pane window so you hear everything outside, including traffic, trains and jets. Rooms were small, especially for double queen. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Room was clean and had standard amenities including a refrigerator.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire for my friend’s bachelorette party, which was in August 2015. I was really excited because it’s in a good part of town, and we got 2 rooms for about $ 225 per night per room.
I don’t want to generalize about the staff because some of them were very nice, but overall, I was very unimpressed with the staff and the lies that they told:
1. Lying about checking IDs and allowing part of our party to check in without proper identification
2. Lying that the only part of the hotel being closed was the gym
First red flag: check in. 4 of the girls arrived before I did, and not only did the staff allow them to check in before I got there (even though my name was the only one on the reservation), they allowed them to check in under someone else’s name. When I asked if they checked any of their IDs, they said yes, but my friends told me that they only requested a credit card. The staff checked them in under «Miller» and claimed that Expedia spelled my name wrong. Two things wrong with that: 1. my last name isn’t Miller and 2. I reserved the room through Hotwire. The 4 girls who checked in had to leave the room because it wasn’t ours and were moved to another room under my name. When I confronted the staff about the mistake, they acted like I had done something wrong.
Second red flag: construction. On the website, it said that there would be construction at the hotel but that it should be finished by July 2015. When I called a week before my reservation, the front desk told me that the only thing closed was the gym, which was a bummer but decided we’d probably be too busy anyway; however, when we got to the hotel, we found out that the bar was also closed along with the business center.
About the hotel:
— Cramped rooms: When I looked at the pictures online, it appeared that they were very spacious, which was great because we had 4 girls staying in each room, but upon arrival, they were very tight and it was difficult to find space to put everyone’s luggage.
— Not a hotel, a motel: The pictures never indicated that this was a motel, and the name «Capitol Hotel» doesn’t indicate that either.
— Loud bathroom fan: Unfortunately, you can’t turn on the bathroom light without turning on the fan, which is so loud that you can’t hear people talking in the room. It sounds like someone constantly has a hair dryer on.
— Redeeming quality! Breakfast was great and was free.

Upon arrival we were informed that our rooms would not be adjoining – even though I had made this request months earlier.
Then, we were not provided any housekeeping service during our stay. The staff insisted that someone in the room signed off that we did not want service, but I asked every person in our room and they assured me that was not the case. I relayed this to the staff and the general manager in an email later but was told I was mistaken. I feel like this would be one of those instances where the customer is right?
The air conditioner was not on when we arrived in the rooms – usually, that wouldn’t be a big deal but it was 92 in Nashville that weekend and it took several hours for the rooms to cool off. Not to mention the rooms were musty and smelled.
Thankfully, we weren’t in Nashville to spend a lot of time in the rooms, but we still paid good money to stay there and would have hoped for much nicer accommodations. I don’t like to provide negative reviews if the issues were resolved or at least acknowledged when I was there but the staff had zero response when the issues were called to their attention.
*The pictures on the website show renovations – which is true – but, they are still a bit misleading. Kind of half-​ass renovations with A LOT of work left to do.

Let’s start with the staff– I believe they hired some of the most incompetent employees known to man. We had to switch out the reservation to another card and name and the staff acted like it was the most difficult request to complete. Upon the arrival of each of our guests it was a nightmare. All the rooms were suppose to be under the name it was switched to with each guest listed in the rooms. They would tell guests that they didn’t have the hosts name or that person wasn’t on the list. It was frustrating beyond belief.
Beyond the incompetence of the hotel staff, the hotel is clearly an old hotel recently cheaply updated. The rooms aren’t bad but you can clearly see where corners were cut. The rooms I went it all had a faint lingering smell to them.
I would never recommend this nightmare to anybody. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere nicer.

I stayed here for a conference while in Nashville. Its pretty centrally located with not too bad of a walk to Broadway, Music City Center, or the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. There are parking charges of around $ 16 per day that we were not informed of before and are automatically added to your bill upon arrival and not included in the original bill provided. The hotel is still under construction with what looks like some good improvements, so some of the pictures posted are a little misleading currently. The rooms are decent; however ours had a good number of ants which was frustrating. The continental breakfast is really good and the staff working the breakfast are wonderful and very friendly. Overall, the price saved us a lot of money when traveling to Nashville. If you are willing to deal with construction and a few ants for a cheaper price this hotel works. If not, I would recommend spending a little more and staying elsewhere.

I was staying for a conference downtown and a few months prior was looking online. I saw some of this not great reviews, but from the pictures really thought, how bad could this really be? The photos are 100% doctored. If you are thinking what I thought, please read this. I can handle a little dirt, some challenging desk people, and even a nasty complimentary breakfast. Despite all of that, for $ 230 per night, when I excitedly entered into this so called ‘hotel’ a couple nights ago for my first visit to Nashville, I have to say that I walked in the lobby and became really worried. Okay, they are ‘under construction’ i told myself. I ignored that inner voice, and squeezed my way into the clunky, small and very smelly elevator up to the 2^nd floor. I walked down the hall and my concerns grew. It took 10 tries and some serious physical force to open the door to my room. When I did, I panicked. I almost started to cry. I do not cry, I have never been that person. I have slept on floors and many uncomfortable situations. This was the worst ‘hotel’ room i have seen in my entire life. I have stated in hostels around the world. I would equate this room a dilapidated and run down hostel with private rooms. The main reason I know the nice looking photos are doctored is because there is minimal lighting in the room and bathroom. Let’s just say i basically had to shower in the dark. So immediately as I walked in the room I panicked and began a 2 hour search for an actual hotel. Unfortunately there was absolutely nothing available downtown, west end or even by the airport. I started to tell myself it wasn’t so bad and went to grab the remote to distract myself. The remote is in this cardboard holder which advertises ‘clean remote’, indicating that they use these special remotes because they are so easy to truly clean and disinfect. I love this! And then I touched the cardboard thing and quickly realized it was covered in a sticky substance. On the bottom there were coffee stains and worn off areas from overuse. The remote was also sticky and buttons worn off, even broken. I’m posting a picture so you can see what i mean. The other thing you can’t see in the photos is the smell. The horrible horrible smell. Old, dirty, and very terrible smells. There was a very outdated cheap alarm clock as well as telephone both covered in dust, clearly years old. The chain lock for the door was covered in rust. Cabinets did not open or close properly and while you really can’t tell from the photos were very cheap. Someone else made a comment about the horrible workmanship with this place, that person was right on. Paint was old, and didn’t actually match the lines of the room. There were holes in the walls, so sloppy. Maybe because there were no lights in the room? The windows are the cheapest and thinnest I’ve ever seen. really scary b/​c they go all the way to the floor and you feel very exposed to any sketchy person who has wandered in the outdoor hallway from the street. The drapes do not close all the way, even if you dare to touch the drapes! Speaking of touching things, the bed. So I had no choice, for two nights I covered myself head to to in my clothes including a hooded sweatshirt and laid the cheap, small and rough bath towels on the bed and over the pillows to find a spot where I could lay down without concern of contracting a disease or bed bug or something. There were visible dark pillings all over the fitted sheet. On the way down from the room I first passed by an old and dirty shower chair just sitting in the hallway next to the trash can. Then I decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator, whoa, filthy nasty and tiny stairs. The bottom lead to an employee area, where usually the door was a jar and you quickly noticed how filthy and disorganized the employee room was. Even worse then everything else. Visible pieces of dirt and trash lining the floor. Again, odd smells all over the place. If you are looking for a hostel like experience, at a hotel rate, this is the spot. I seriously cannot imagine anyone who can afford a $ 200 per night hotel remotely feeling like this was an okay experience. I seriously question any review here that is above a star. Another rater indicated that the health and building safety department (s) should shut this place down. I agree and am shocked they have not. Do not book this place, you have been warned, and I have been scarred for life.

I don’t typically write a review unless what I’ve experienced was awful. And this was nothing short. Upon walking in, the front desk area was a mess and half torn apart due to what seemed to be a renovation. I got my key and headed up to my room through an elevator that was old and dingy. I made it to my floor, and realized the rooms were outside access, which told me enough already. I got to my room and found out that it was occupied by another person, a couple, who I walked in on having sex. Immediately I went back down to the desk and turned my keys in and got a full refund and instead I am staying at the 5 star Hermitage Hotel. Night and day difference.
The feeling of shamefullness amongst those who have also stayed there rang so ever true even though I didn’t stay much longer than 10 minutes. It’s embarrassing that I even was on the property.

Not the greatest hotel I’ve stayed in, but certainly not the worst. Good location for the price if you want to be in the downtown area.
The room was clean but smelled faintly of cigarettes in spite of it being a nonsmoking room. One thing that drove me nuts was the bathroom fan. It was insanely loud and I couldn’t hear anything while inside the bathroom.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our request for early arrival and late check out.
BUT I’d advise you to look at your bill closely before you leave! They charged me for parking although I didn’t have a car. The woman at front desk apologized and removed it from my bill, stating the computer automatically adds it to everyone’s bill; I call BS on that, but was too hungover to argue.

I had to cancel my room due to work after I already checked in and Stacy and team were so helpful! Cannot wait to come back and stay!

This is the Capital Hotel now. The room is nice and a short walk to all the action on 2^nd Ave & Broadway

This place is a dump. How anyone can give this hotel more stars is unbelievable. This hotel smells horrible. The décor hasn’t been updated since it was built. I found little black bugs crawling on the curtains. I used bathrooms in dive bars that were cleaner and more well put together. The towel rack was nailed to the wall, the shower curtain looked like it was also from the 1970’s. Ok forget writing anymore. Don’t stay here, the place is a dump. Save your money.

It’s in a confusing location but is in close proximity (about 2 – 3 minutes) from Broadway street & both convention centers
They neglected to mention that I would have to pay $ 17 a day for «valet» aka a guy to park the car 3 feet from the hotel lobby
Nashville in general gets you on the parking everywhere you go, might be better off taking cabs and shuttles
The hotel is older, but it appears that they are trying to make some remodeling attempts
Inside the rooms appear lot better then the rest of the place. Right size and decently clean.
Some repairs needed in the shower (shower head) but still functional
All in all it was just ok, probably won’t stay here again but if you’re on a budget and don’t care if the place looks a lil rough, then give it a try.
Free WiFi is a plus

So, we decided to spend the night in Nashville while traveling from the Smoky mountains to Graceland before heading home. I looked at a lot of hotels in the area but wanted one close to Broadway. Since we’ve never been here and don’t really know the area this seemed convenient.
The first thing that struck me was the mandatory valet parking. Okay, I have no problem with valet parking, actually prefer it, but they took our car and literately drove it 20 feet. That almost seems worth the $ 16.00 mandatory valet fee.
Second was the condition of the hotel. Old and creepy is what comes to mind. The elevator moves at the blazing speed of an elderly snail and creeks as if it is in pain.
Finally, outdoor room entrances with a small balcony that overlooks the busy and noisy street below. Between the car horns, people yelling on the street and the all night party that was going on a few rooms over from us, any chance of sleep here was a no-​go.
Room was okay and the staff pretty friendly, that earned the extra star but for the money, it was not worth it. Loved Nashville and will come back, just not staying here.

This is a horrible hotel. After returning from a night of dinner and drinks, our friends discovered a random and highly intoxicated man passed out in their bed. The hotel likely gave him a master key which allowed him to access any room. The hotel’s response to this incident was completely unprofessional and lacked empathy. The general manager wanted to charge our friends a night’s stay for the room despite this incident. Essentially, he cares more about making money than the safety of guests. The hotel was also dirty with construction equipment (not in use) throughout the place. Do not stay here if you care about your safety, peace of mind, and enjoyment.

Don’t do it !!! Trust me there’s better place’s for the same price. plus there were, bugs, it was old, and they were unfriendly. Just look at the pic’s

Anyone posting positive reviews, such as Benjamin B, was as he said — probably drunk! In the case of a drunken stupor, this place is great…
If you do not plan on being intoxicated as a way of overcoming a poorly run hotel… read on…
We were greeted with rotting garbage left outside our room entry door from a previous person, the room itself had construction debris on the floors and beds. I called for a vacuum so I could take care of it myself (earlier, the front desk person told me there were no maintenance or other staff available to help after hours)…vacuum never came, I removed the rotting garbage to a hallway and it leaked all over my shoes. Only one elevator to fight over with other guests and you cannot use the stairs unless you can stomach the urine smell, laundry out of order, would not let you see a room prior to charging you… I know why now!
We travel A LOT and this is the first time EVER in 20 years that I have felt compelled to leave a review. Thankfully we did not stay more than a night… it would have ruined the trip.
The front desk would not allow a late checkout either, I believe because they were short staffed.
Wi-​fii did not work at all. No reception to the rooms beyond the 2^nd floor.

Pretty happy with this hotel. Our first valet guy was great! Made good suggestions and took care of us quickly. Ever other time the valet situation waa confusing and slow. All other staff was friendly.
Nice breakfast area, clean rooms. $ 17 extra per day to park.
GREAT location. Walked all over downtown and back a few times. Also spent a lot of time in the nearby capitol. Bought on expedia and saved about $ 100.

OK– First off… the rooms are nice– recently renovated– comfy beds-.
My main quarrel with this BW is the open hallways– (and the mandatory 16.00 a day for valet parking). The BW sits up on the hill close to the capitol– not too far from Broadway but not as close as we would have liked. WE both agreed that if the room had not been so nice the hotel definitely would have been sketchy. The breakfast was adequate but the breakfast room is … well… depressing and crowded. We both wished we had spent more and stayed closer to Broadway… Will not stay here again because places with open air hallways are not to my liking.

I’m here to tell you that the lowies are undeserved, this place killed it for me. It’s a 3min downhill jaunt to Broadway and downtown (and by the time you walk back up the hill you’re probably drunk, at least I was, so you don’t even notice it).
My bed was a giant soft king that enveloped me like an affectionate giant and didn’t let go until I begged that I had to get to the airport. The pillows — 4 small square-​ish ones — are slightly weird if you’re used to normal oblong ones, but there’s enough of them that you can manufacture a satisfactory solution.
The bathroom was spotless, so too was the carpet, and my room looked out onto Capitol Hill where the sunset swept in and bathed everything in molten light like some kind of Renaissance painting of yore. All I needed was a pleasingly plump woman and a man with a tiny penis reclining on the bed to complete the picture.
Oh, oh, and on Sunday night they had this amazing black woman in the lobby on a keyboard organ singing gospel hymns. That was probably my favourite part, now that I think of it.
