The Frist Clinic

So I really like Dr Fakrhudden in gastroenterology. But the support staff is horrible and an office is only as good as the weakest link. I had GI testing done toward the end of last year and in trying to get samples while still in office for my procedure (to save a 45 min trip back to their office another day) it was a game of no one knew anything and everyone was too lazy to do anything to fix it. When I called a MONTH later to talk to the nurse Amanda about said samples I left her a voicemail. A day went by, then two, then a week with no response. Finally I had to call her back to talk about the samples and this issues which is unacceptable to me. So I filed a complaint with HCA. I got a nice little typed note stated I was wrong and that she had called me the next day and I didn’t answer. So I checked my call log thinking I may have missed something. Nope! The only calls to their office were the two outgoing ones I made a week apart and neither on the day she supposedly called. I’m so so so tired of HCA facilities trying to place blame for staff mess ups back on to the patients. Unfortunately, I will no longer see this doctor, whom I actually liked a lot due to this. Taking time off work to drive downtown and pick up samples that were supposed to be delivered to me before I even left the premises is not something everyone (like me!) can do. Plus when you actually do get a nurse on the phone to talk about your health concerns you tell all they want is to get you off the phone ASAP. No real compassion. I’m done with this place.

Worst experience with a medical office ever!!!

I went to endocrinology.
Dr. Carlson and his NP, Mrs. Engh, are nice enough.
My first visit I was given a prescription that was not called in to the pharmacy for four weeks. My calls to check were not returned. Only when they called to verify my follow up visit was I able to point to a person the error of their ways.
My second visit was with Mrs. Engh. I was given a 30-​day prescription but 2.5 day supply of injection needles. No return calls to tell me what to do about that! Furthermore, Mrs. Engh and her nurse each gave me different instructions on taking the med.
Unfortunately, I have encountered similar at my primary-​care physician, also a Tri-​Star practice.
Wait times are very reasonable and people are nice enough, but there seems to be a real disconnect on follow through.

We came to the Frist Clinic because a friend raved about their great doctor there. That doctor was not accepting new patients — we ended up with Dr A. Beck — I would not recommend this office to anyone and we will be switching. They have an attitude that is very unhelpful in her office — and the care is mediocre to begin with. They seem to be convinced how great they are but the reality is not always great service and exceptional doctors. Be careful which doc you get. The system seems like a good set up otherwise.

We love just about everything about The Frist Clinic except maybe the fact that we need to go to them — no one loves feeling bad and being sick. The staff from the front desk to the doctors are friendly, polite, and courteous. We love that we have a doctor as well as nurse practioners that work under him that make it easy to get when you get sick. But it runs like well oiled machinery. With our doctor and his staff we never seem to wait more than a few minutes before being called back. I usually don’t even have time to get past the first few pages of a magazine. There is free valet parking as well as a coffee shop in the atrium or even the dining up on the 3^rd floor I believe.

My entire family (3 generations) has seen Dr. McKechnie @ The Frist Clinic since our previous doctor retired approx 10 – 15 years ago. I highly recommend him (and Frist Clinic in general). The nurses are always very helpful when you have to call for advice and/​or medication — often preventing the need for an appointment.
