Manager

Jen as a rider: Apparently I’ve been obsessed with horses since I was born, and I used to beg for pony rides on a regular basis. I started showing in 4-​H, progressed to equitation and jumpers in high school and rode on the IHSA team in college where I also discovered the joys of eventing! After graduating I learned how to sit while working for a dressage trainer and now am a committed low-​level eventer in the ever-​elusive quest to put together three solid phases.

My daughter went in to buy the cheapest half chaps she could find, but came out $ 250 later with good quality boots, half chaps and riding pants, solely because of the wide selection of items and superb helpfulness of the staff. The salesperson was very friendly and spent a lot of time measuring, searching for items and helping my beginner rider find the right items for her level and budget. We will go back for anything horse.

This place is an equestrian paradise!
The first floor has a nice assortment of riding gear, apparel, tack, horse cookies, etc. If you’re not sure what sizes you need, and you’re in the area, a stop into this shop is a lovely way to get everything you need. The staff was nice, and seemed like they’d be extremely helpful in that situation as well.
I stopped in to by some horse cookies that I still haven’t managed to mail to one of the many horse rescues I follow on Facebook. I also needed some riding gloves, for the lessons I haven’t managed to take yet, so I didn’t need a lot of help and instead, just browsed. It’s not a big store, but they have a lot of cool stuff.
The second floor is home to the blankets, doggie gear, brushes and grooming stuff, AND, best of all, the clearance section!
I’m one of those people who can spend hours in a sale section. On the bright side, I tend to leave it at least as tidy as I found it! ;-)
They had a tremendous selection of boots, a few racks of clothes and just generally, a billion bucks worth of bargains! I’d check upstairs first if there’s anything you need, including tack consignment that makes me dream about the day when I will have an equine BFF to outfit with gently used gear!

This is your place for all things equestrian and then some. Browse dozens of saddles, harnesses, horse blankets, riding boots, show helmets, curry combs, brushes, hoof picks, veterinary supplements and more.
The store is large and spans two grand floors. There is ample room to display everything to it’s best advantage. Look around to your heart’s content.
Even if you’re not a horse person you just might want some great boots or perhaps you just like to rock the English rider look. I am thrilled that they sell my all time favorite DuBarry boots which I would never be without and aren’t always easy to find.
The black field and dress boots are gorgeous whether or not you are going to wear them to ride. They look beautiful with skirts or over slim-​fitting trousers. The selection here is terrific.
Prices are competitive and the staff is welcoming and helpful. Great to have this store in the area.

SmartPak should be used as a case study for excellent customer service. Their staff is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and all four times I’ve been in the store more than eager to go out of their way to assist not just me, but every customer I’ve seen in the store. as a retail consultant, I ache store manager and owner on the «field trips quote to this shop to see an example of excellent small store customer service.

OMG a company that will call you to see how your horse is doing on her supplements? that’s amazing customer service. The call went on and we talked of my horse needs and i reviewed my standing order and added a couple more things id been waiting to do but just didn’t seem to get it together to make happen. That phone call made me feel like Smartpak cared about me as a customer and that’s rare in today’s world. I’m a huge fan, Smartpak won me over!

We were looking to buy quite a bit of stuff for my daughter, who just joined an equestrian team, and needed more formal gear. Their stock was very limited, and there was ZERO customer service — we spent half an hour looking around, trying things on on our own, and no one offered to help. This place can’t hold a candle to Dover Saddlery, where they have a lot of sizes and styles in stock, and will spend as much time as it takes to find something that fits (and is in your price range.)

This dog (and horse???) supply store is kind of like the Lilly Pulizter of pet stores. The collars and leashes are pink and/​or green and/​or polka-​dotted, and some of their dog beds probably cost more than my own mattress. My mom even got a pair of preppy navy flipflops with white horses on them.
I did score Woofie’s bed here, for a moderately reasonable 50 or 60 dollars, and it is super plush and nice. Too bad he would rather tear up the couch or sleep on my bed… but, I digress.
The staff was friendly and helpful as I attempted to stock up on pet supplies before adopting my lovable bundle of fur, but the selection wasn’t quite what I was looking for. I don’t recall them selling any treats, either.
I know zero about horses, but they do also sell saddles and other equestrian accoutrements.
